Jim Parsons

You know what? As Howard would say to Raj in Lunar Excitation: That's it. I'm out. (i need to find that gif and insert it here - note to self) Its someone else's turn to have a go. Good luck and god speed.

For what?  To have an ongoing argument?  I'm not trying to argue, just to state that a lot of the hair-pulling and gnashing of teeth that is going here is a little bit of an overreaction.

Loved this quote from Forbes....

Jim Parsons vehicle An Act Of God was again the highest grossing play on Broadway, and finally broke the $1 million threshold, proving the Big Bang star has bona fide pull on the Great White Way.

I think that this is fantastic. Not only has the attendance been great but they have been able to keep the average ticket price high.  This is close to an expected max gross.  Hope it leads to more Broadway appearances.

Phanta, honestly it would be considered legally stalking as well.  I know because my daughter had a one time incident that was very similar to what this woman did and the authorities (in California, no less) considered it stalking.   So whether you choose to believe it is your issue...but it is stalking.  Some of us know from experience.   And yes...it only takes a situation like that to leave a lasting impression and discomfort.   You may be naive about it and I apologize for the blunt education you are getting on it here...but sadly it is what it is and it has been given a label and authorities would consider that stalking.

I am sure he will get more offers now.  What he achieved in this play is quite a coup.   Only 25% of plays, in their first year, reach the level that they can pay off debts incurred when putting on the play.  He achieved his in 10 weeks time.  That is nearly unheard of.   So yes...he is definitely one that will likely be pursued by producers/directors of future summer plays given his great track record so far.   Kudos to he and Joe Mantello because Joe deserves some credit here as well.   It also speaks well of his star-power...that he drew his fan base to come see him perform.   That is awesome!

We all want to know more about these celebrities or let's face it we would not bee on here. But going to their private residence is wrong  period. Acting is their profession and a certain amount of "fame" goes along with their  success. It I no way gives anyone the right to intrude on their privacy. Would you go to your doctors or dentists home waiting outside to see them? That would be crossing a line.  He was kind enough to invite us into part of his life via Instagram. Obviously something happened with that also. The juvenile begging and insults would turn anyone off.

In this day and age I don't blame him if he was frightened by something along those lines.

Sad For or all of us

Hard to believe that there are only 7 shows left because it seemed like the summer went pretty quickly all in all.  But I must admit, I am excited about them all returning to Table Read on the 5th.   I really am looking forward to the new season.

it seems Todd and his sister- maybe, because i couldn't quite recognize her in the short vid of outside the theater- were there tonight. and what i could see (even though, Todd was seated in the car), is that working out is reeeeeally working out for Mr. Spiewak too :icon_twisted::icon_twisted: LOL

Aww Jim's so lovely!!!!!!!!!!!!!! um, there are a couple of videos in the jim parsons tag on instagram that show him signing playbills ^^ but what i find so endearing is that in one of them he comes out of that black gate and makes a little jump and says 'hiiiii!' to the fans there, it was so lovely! and then it seems a person handed him some Home merchandise and he said 'hooome' and signed it. I'm giggling right now because of how awesomely cute this guy is!

I thought the same thing...in one of the videos when, he quite frankly, bounces out of the stage door, the people who exit behind him look like Julie and Todd,  Then the video when he gets in the car I think it is Julie and Todd in the back seat.  There was a sighting of his mom this weekend, so maybe his family is in town for the plays final days?

He does bounce out the door and also when he jogs back to the car on occasions.  Is anyone attending in the last week?

On another note the finale is showing tonight here in NZ so I will be up to date just before I get to read the first taping report from season 9 :icon_razz:

haha i guess no shamy shipper is staying spoiler free for the first episode LOL i know i'll be reading it ten times and more if necessary hahaha

I know a few people on Tumblr that are "attempting" to go spoiler free (key word "attempting").

I myself could never go spoiler free, not even if my life depended on it. Spoiler free people essentially have an extra six weeks of hiatus...I would literally go insane.

I'm going to try.

it'll be easy on one front because I'll be in LA and I'll be too busy to check social media while I'm there.

It'll be hard because I'll be with a group of Shippers that'll want to discuss E1 to the ends of the earth...

You know we'll be respectful of anyone wanting to be spoiler free.  And at least you won't be alone, Dana will also be going spoiler free so that will give you a trip buddy who's also in your corner :)

Kuddos to you guys trying the spoiler free route, especially with the way that finale went down!

I give you major props for trying to be spoiler free.  I know I can't do it.  But, I promise to keep mum and not spill anything (good thing I'm not a drinker).

I'm sure they will show us Ep 1, kind of scared, but all will be fine and they usually play out different when finalized rather than reading the taping report.

I respectfully disagree with you Stewie....    Being nosy and gossipy and intrusive was not part of what any actor signs up to "accept" as their fate.   Many never even expected to succeed to a great level.   When they do, it always astonishes them, but they thought they would remain anonymous actors doing local and regional work.   Not everyone expects to be a "famous star".   Jim was perfectly content just doing local and regional stage and likely would have been happy just working Broadway where his fame would have been limited and the intrusive lifestyle would never have come to him.

Saying that a person has to learn to "deal with it" is ridiculous.   That just says our society is perfectly content being people who have no morals and no values.   I refuse to accept that.   While I agree there has been a big decline in values and morals, I still say that a person ALWAYS has a choice as to whether to do something they know is going to make someone else extremely uncomfortable or not.  They have a choice as to whether to camp out and try to snap compromising pictures or even innocent photos by trespassing or loitering or not.   When you loiter and trespass that crosses the line.  When you feel you are owed a right to know about every detail of a person's life just because they entertain you and you enjoy their performances, that is crossing the line.  That is sick behavior and obsession beyond normalcy.   It is beyond idolizing even.   It is sick and I refuse to believe that the vast majority of fans condone that kind of behavior.

Sure there are sickos out there who will violate common decency...but I would prefer to think those are fewer rather than greater.

Working for the media is fine, but then stick to news, not gossip and anything that intrudes on their lives.   Actors are more than willing to give media their due time with interviews, photo opportunities, etc. through proper channels.   They don't sign on though for the guy hiding in the bushes, or the person loitering across the street from their home or apartment, or some that have done things even far worse.   I realize everyone has a job to do and my advice is to find a job that doesn't have you have to compromise yourself in a way that you have to resort to such behavior.  There are plenty of news media organizations out there for the entertainment business that would NEVER cross such lines.

Bottom line is everyone in society, whether they be a political figure, a royal, or a celebrity because of sports, acting or music, should be given privacy times and times to not have to deal with intrusive paps/media and fans.

I agree that Jim probably did not expect the fame when he signed up for TBBT, but as I've said, I don't think this is about TBBT. This intrusion has come about as a result of Jim appearing in a stage play, something he has actively chosen to do, rather than a show which he didn't realise would be such a big success. The stage show is huge and Jim knew full well that it would be and that there would most likely be vast swathes of fans congregating outside to get signatures and photos and all the rest of it, and there were always going to be a couple of creepy fans who followed him home. He knew about that yet he still signed on.

I don't think it's ridiculous to say that Jim has to learn to deal with fame. Fame often comes with success and all popular actors have to deal with it in some form. If what people are doing is against the law and shockingly intrusive then of course nobody should have to 'deal' with that- but there are relevant legal structures in place to make sure that the people committing the crimes are brought to justice and punished in a condign manner.

I am not part of the 'tabloid' media that pursue gossip stories and rumours about celebs- I actually work in sports journalism, although the same applies that sports stars shouldn't be stalked or their private lives intruded on. As a general rule, I find that sports journalists as a whole are more respectful than news journalists anyway when it comes to these kinds of stories, but that may be because we sports journalists have more regular press conferences and more actual news to report on than the news journalists who are out to FIND a story rather than report on a story.

One more thing- and this doesn't really relate to stardustmelody's post in particular but quite a few other posts. If Jim felt that he was 'being stalked' or 'harassed' or the fan was in any other way intruding on his privacy, do you not think that Jim or one of Jim's representatives would have taken appropriate action? If this person was stalking, then the video of them meeting Jim is online and could be used as evidence in a criminal trial if that were the case. If it were stalking, which some members on here claim, it would be very easy to secure a conviction with such evidence and for Jim to have a restraining order put against this woman. Having a restraining order taken out against the fan would also have the added advantage of discouraging other fans from loitering outside his apartment on in any other way harassing him, as they would fear the same treatment. So the one restraining order would rid Jim of this intrusive fan and also act as a deterrent to other potentially intrusive fans.

I don't wish to comment on whether this woman was stalking Jim or not because I don't know enough about the law to do so, but I believe that it would not be a cast iron case in Jim's favour if it were to go to court so it may be unwise and potentially libellous to brand this woman a stalker when she may not be.

Well it isn't Jim's sister in the car and I don't even think it is Todd in the car, although it is harder to get a good look at him.  It appears to be a couple that Jim knows.   In the video you can see the man in back reach over to the woman and hold her hand and they smile at each other.  Not sure if Todd would do that, but maybe.

You can see him leaving the building behind Jim in the bottom photo.

This is a great pic--a cool snippet of insight into his pre-show moments.  I remember he said on ITAS that he does one last pee before he goes onstage. :)

It's fun to see the little items on his dressing table--the towels, the coffee cup (I'm guessing), what looks like an eyebrow brush or something like that.  Maybe some pills of some kind.

I can't quite make out what the little oval thing next to the mirror is--an ear? LOL!

Thanks for sharing!
