Jim Parsons

There were three comments about the show.  First, he said his contract expires at the end of the next season.  This is inline with what Melissa, Kunal, Kaley (who also mentioned Johnny's ending), have said.  So, it looks like there is not option on the contracts for an 11th year.

Second, there was also a comment which I interpreted to mean the cast want to be together when the show ends.

Finally, there was a comment about the show which had nothing to do with it ending, but more another instance of saying how close the cast is, but there were moments....  I was hoping to hear an expansion on that, but Dan took the next comment in another direction and never came back to it.

If there was to be a deal struck with the cast does the fact that there isn't an option year mean that any deal is likely to be say a multi year deal if agreed? Of course it's possible that Season 10 really is the last...

It's all gonna depend on how much the cast wants.  It may be that the first five will have to agree to a pay cut to make this a multi year deal (and this is the first chance for Melissa and Mayim to make the buck the others are making.  And there is how much CBS is willing to pay, and whether WB is willing to give more of the back end, and how many year there are going to be.  CBS wants the show, but it doesn't want to have to lose money on it.  For WB, it's how much CBS is willing to pay for the license, as the new episodes are basically nothing but profit in syndication.  Several of the cast and TPTB have mentioned it's tricky, CBS has mentioned it's wants the show. .  My guess is the tricky part is going to be the money the actors want.  There are a lot of moving parts and to try and get all those parts meshed together, to get a deal done, could be difficult.  It's going to be interesting to see if they can get things done.

Jim and Todd went to see Jessie Tyler Ferguson's "Fully Committed" on Broadway last night.  Ed O'Neill (Jessie's co-star on Modern Family) was also there.

Is it just me or did Jim look a bit buff  on the DP show? I know he works out, but his arms looked huge , well more than usual Lol.

It was a nice interview  although he was wearing tight pants so I was slightly distracted...:icon_biggrin:

The other week on the television they were showing a Season 1 or 2 episode but then later in the afternoon showed a Season 9 episode (think it was a day of Lenny episodes) and it was really noticeable how thin and gangly Jim was early in the show compared to now.

Lots of great bits in this interview - twice there were vulgarities screamed at him during AAOG, and how he reacted;  Telling a woman to quit taping him during AAOG and feeling bad afterwards at scaring her;  his shyness at meeting personalities like Kevin Costner;  he's not in therapy; he can't do improv or impersonations; Todd texting to say you might want to correct the record after Dan calls Todd Jim's "husband", a term which Jim seems to prefer to Partner, which he says has business connotations; the "sheldon laugh" at 19:24 which is all Jim;  and of course, the "foursome" which came up in last year's interview, when they talked about Jim getting all flustered when Dan's wife proposed it after the Patrick family saw AAOG last summer.   Jim told a funny story about reading the script for "Hidden Figures" and being slow on the uptake that his character was racist.  "That can't be what that means..."   Lots of back and forth about not taking the role of God home with him, whether he or Dan are ever mean, the Danettes teasing him when he says that the Dan Patrick Show will not go into reruns (we have Mr. Hollywood here), after "know what you are bringing to the party", a quote that he has mentioned before that he continues to live by.

Big fan of this intelligent, talented, and very likable actor.

BTW, if you listen to the podcast of the interview, you can hear the beginning when he takes the Instagram photo, for "the kids".

That part had me laughing so hard - the face he makes when imitating Todd's reaction. LMAO Oh Jim, you sweet innocent cinnamon roll...

Jim scored another great appearance on The Dan Patrick Show. I love how they jumped around from topic to topic but Dan should have realized he had GOLD when Jim was talking about how the cast has gotten along over nine years and was about to expand on their interactions but Dan moved away from that area, not with any apparent intent, it just flowed to another area. Shame on you Dan :superstition:. So great to see him looking so healthy, not just by putting on a few pounds but he looked less stressed than the past year.

It also looks like he wore the same shirt that he wore to the play the previous evening.

Yes, i noticed he wore the same shirt both days. My boyfriend has also done that a few times LOL ! repeating clothes,  no big deal , though it is funny when some celeb does it, but then,  Jim is just so unassuming and down to earth-it adds to his charm in a weird way ♥

I loved how he said he was putting up an Instagram photo for "the kids".  So modest compared to saying, for instance, I'm putting up a photo for my millions of fans. :icon_cheesygrin:

True.

His comment "The kids need to know where I am"...maybe me wonder, he seems adverse to reading comments....so does he get nudges from his "people" when he hasn't posted to IG in a while?

It sounds like he got a call for dinner and couldn't make it due to the play, so then arranged to come on the show anyway the next day.  He has said before that the Danettes have his personal phone number, and so he makes arrangements directly with them, but surely he would loop in his publicist for a public appearance like this.  Said publicist would probably then remind him to do an Instagram post, as you suggest.   BTW, in that earlier DP interview he said that if he makes arrangements directly with them, he would never send his publicist to cancel for him.  If that ever happened, it would mean something was seriously wrong, like he was in the hospital.  Instead, he would call them himself.
