Jim's movie "Hidden Figures" hosted an event today at The Toronto International Film Festival.  Along with a Q&A with Taraji P. Henson, Octavia Spencer, Janelle Monae and Pharrell Williams, they showed 30 minutes of previously unseen footage.

At one point Henson lost her composure on stage..."It's overwhelming," said Henson, collecting herself after a series of scenes that showed her going toe to toe with NASA superiors played by Kevin Costner and Jim Parsons. "I’m a girl from the hood. I didn’t grow up with much, so all I had was dreams and hope. The reason why this is so overwhelming,” she said, tears coming once more, “is because when you come from a place where you have no dreams, no hope, and all you see is that people that look like you don’t belong or they have no place in society…" She trailed off. "If I had known about these women coming up, maybe I would have aspired to be a rocket scientist."

The event was followed with a live outdoor concert with Pharrell performing music from the movie's soundtrack.

From what I have read, the event was a huge success.

Rumor is that the film may have its world premier at The American Film Institute (AFI) Film Festival in Los Angeles in mid-November in order to be eligible for Critics Choice, Golden Globe and SAG Award nomination consideration.  Also, that the film will receive a limited release on 12/25/16 in order to meet Oscar nomination eligibility requirements.

I have only seen Jim on broadway for An Act of God. Did anyone happen see Sean this summer ?

I found a link comparing Jim and Sean's performances and broadway box office :

I have seen both Jim in New York last year and Sean in LA this spring. They were both wonderful of course but although the script was exactly the same it felt like it was an entirely different show, at least to me, and I think it was because of the different comedic timing and way of delivering lines. I think that the difference in money income may be because Jim has a bigger fan base that Sean has. Just my opinion though :)

I also read somewhere in an article discussing  AAoG's grosses that it is not very common in Broadway, apart for musicals,  to have two productions of a "new" play on two consecutive years, and that could have affected the income too. Anyway, in the article they also acknowledged that the main reason is the fact JP at the moment has a bigger popularity than SH.

For my...duh...connect the dots moment for today.  Reading an article in the LA Times about Hidden Figures which is directed by Theodore Melfi...

"Johnson's (Taraji P. Henson) first interactions with the high-level team in charge of putting John Glenn into space, in which she wins over a boss (Kevin Costner) and elicits jealousy from a small-minded colleague (Jim Parsons, also the star of Melfi's Intel commercials)."

Melfi directed Jim's Intel commercials...Jim gets a role in Melfi's movie project...work begets work.

what kind of dr is dr stephanie was she on big bang theory i cant rember

Second season.  She was a surgeon, Howard picked her up be telling her she could drive a car on Mars.  Leonard took her home, and they ended up dating for three episodes.  She even moved in with him.  Sara Rue, the actress who played her, has lost about 40 pounds.

Not sure but she recurs as a profiler on my other fave show Bones. Not fan of her character though.

JP was someone I always wanted to guest on that show.

Why u say it? did he said something in his interview today?? couldn't listen to it yet :(

No the interview was mostly about fantasy football., the part about the trash talking was pretty funny.  They also talked a bit about the Forbes salary news and about wanting Jim to come visit them in their CT studio.

If anyone is interested in listening...here's the link to the ESPN FF podcast.  Jim's part begins at about the 40:00 mark
