‘A Kid Like Jake’ star Jim Parsons on how young generations are creating a better future

In “A Kid Like Jake,” Jim Parsons departs from his famous “Big Bang Theory” role to play Greg Wheeler, the other half of a struggling couple grappling with the idea that their 4-year-old son is exhibiting gender-nonconforming behavior. As Greg struggles to understand what this might mean for his son’s future, his wife, Alex (Claire Danes), for the most part is adamant that it’s nothing more than innocent role play.

While the parents are encouraged to lean on Jake’s uniqueness to get him into a New York private school, the couple starts to re-examine their own roles in their son’s life. We recently spoke with Parsons, ahead of the film’s release on Friday.

That's their Shih Tzu, Rufus.  They've had him since he was a puppy.

(LOL...I think this is Jim's way of explaining all the Rufus IG stories, he must be bored out of his mind when he is not working, poor thing)

What amazes me is that some peopIe saying that intend it as a compliment, they don't even realize it most definiteIy is not!

A review of "A Kid Like Jake" from Awards Circuit

They thought that the story was a little to "gentle", but loved Claire and Jim...

"The highlight of the film is watching Claire Danes and Jim Parsons.  Both of them have rarely been better.  The former continues to show why she’s such an underrated actress, while the latter makes the case for more big screen roles.  Danes is the passionate one, while Parsons is the calm one.  As a parental unit, they work.  Both characters deserved to be explored more, but the actors do their part.  Parsons especially is surprisingly good.  Sheldon on “The Big Bang Theory,” this is not.
