Roseanne: Johnny Galecki's David Cowers Before Dan in New Promo

Looks like we’re about to get a better idea of where Roseanne‘s David has been all this time… provided he can withstand his father-in-law’s (well-deserved) scrutiny.

A new promo for the ABC revival’s next episode (Tuesday, 8/7c) heralds the return of Johnny Galecki’s character, who is (was?) married to Sara Gilbert’s Darlene but who hasn’t been seen since the Conners made their return to primetime. As the clip previews, the estranged dad shows up in “Darlene v. David,” but time and distance have done nothing to dull Dan’s disregard for his son-in-law.

“Darlene v. David” is the only episode of Roseanne‘s nine-installment revival in which The Big Bang Theory star Galecki will appear — thanks to scheduling conflicts — but said in January that he’d be game for another stint if the ABC comedy comes back for another season.

Roseanne has been renewed for another season. SO might see more of Johnny on the show. I wonder how hard or easy was it to transition from Leonard to David again.

Gives us a little bit of an insight as to the talent of the actors.......

I don’t think it is  luck that Johnny and John Goodman have had so much success.  Just the look between them in that scene  tells so much.

Of course, you need talent to make it but a lot of luck is part of it. There are thousands of talented actors in Hollywood who will never be widely known.

That sounds just like what Leonard told Penny back in Season 7!!!  ????

I was talking about coming out of the Roseanne success.  I was trying not to make it a dig at the other major actors on Roseanne.  But whatever, What I was trying not to explicitly say (but meant) is Johnny, John, (and also Laurie) are outstanding actors and The rest of the (legacy) cast is okay .

I am a very not emotional guy LOL. But kinda got choked up watching that montage then David at the window. The show ended in 1994 I Think it was when I was only 6 or 7. But been watching the reboot ova in NZ. We get it day of the states. And I have been really enjoying it. Refreshing too see a show partic currently about a middle class family, that does not shy away from the tough issues. And I guess knowing Johnnys history with the show. And to introduce or re-introduce David by Darlenes window, great way to bring David back into the fold. And of course Dans dislike for David.

Sarah Gilbert is such a good actor. Seeing Johnny as David makes it clearer that he's doing a certain tone as Leonard, which shows his talent 'cause it seems very natural, it's not over the top. Not sure if he's doing something with his voice here too, I don't know the character and that's a short snippet (the way he says "unusual" sounds a bit unusual though). I really feel the difference between Leonard and David, goes to show his talent.

Very excited to watch tonight! Love Sarah and Johnny together.

Roseanne's Sara Gilbert Talks David and Darlene's Big Reunion, Responds to That Trump-Themed Essay

Great article, and timely for me. I had just spoken to my sister who won't watch the show because of Roseanne's politics and my answer was pretty much what Sara said in this article. People are dealing with this issue in real life every day. I think they are doing a good job showing a family with members on opposites sides politically.

Sara Gilbert sounds off on tonight's episode, "Darlene v. David," and discusses the limited time-frame they had Johnny and where they may go with the story next season. SPOILER ALERT!

I know CBS will probably not allow this, but wouldn't it be cool if Kaley played Blue?

I watched the episode and found that, to me, JG is more identifiable as Leonard than David. I don't have any problem seeing Sarah Gilbert as Darlene. or Laurie Metcalf as Jackie, but JG has played Leonard for much longer than he did David. He's just Leonard to me.
