Golden Globes: What the Nominees Are Saying

Simon Helberg: Best supporting actor, film for 'Florence Foster Jenkins'

"Oh man, it’s so embarrassing,” says Helberg of being in a compromising position when he found out about his nomination. “I was on the toilet. I knew they were announcing it this morning but I didn’t know at what time and I got very nervous so I went over to the ol' toilet and I started gets all of these texts. So, it was humbling.” Meryl Streep and Hugh Grant also received nominations for their roles in feature about a New York socialite turned opera singer.

Helberg is best known for his role on the long-running CBS sitcom The Big Bang Theory. “I have been lucky enough to be doing a show for ten years where I play the same character so it’s nice to step outside of that. It’s rewarding for me when people come up and say ‘I didn’t even recognize you in this. I forgot you were that guy on TV.’”

I for one really hope he gets it. I just finished watching the movie and Simon is absolutely wonderful. He is both funny and touching, and fills his role with humanity. An incredible performance to say the least. Not to mention his piano playing is spot on. Wonderful job. Well done, Simon!

Well unfortunately Simon diddnt win. But still an honour to be nominated.

The competition in his category was pretty tough, it was an honor to be nominated.  He can now always be referred to as "Golden Globe nominee, Simon Helberg.

Absolutely loved Simon's interview. He seems like such a nice guy. Also he was absolutely brilliant in FFJ. It was refreshing to see him in a character that was so different from Howard. Simon mentions, in the interview, about both him and Jim having hit movies at the same time. Jim is good in Hidden Figures but for me at least I couldn't help but think it was Sheldon playing another role.
