10 Sundance Breakout Stars Led by Melissa Rauch, Julia Garner and the ‘Knock Knock’ Girls

.....The 2015 edition of the frosty festival is no different, with no shortage of young stars poised to launch their careers in Park City and make a name for themselves in Hollywood. TheWrap talked to buyers and sellers alike before whittling down this list of 10 young actors with strong buzz heading into the festival.

Melissa Rauch, “The Bronze” – Rauch could wind up being the breakout star of the festival with her foul-mouthed turn as an Olympic gymnast in “The Bronze,” which hopes to repeat the success of last year’s Opening Night selection “Whiplash.” Best known for playing Bernadette on CBS’s “The Big Bang Theory,” Rauch forger her own path to Sundance stardom by writing and executive producing “The Bronze,” which is a Duplass brothers production.

The Power Couples of Sundance 2015

Winston and Melissa Rauch, The Bronze

The first day of the Sundance Film Festival is a big one for Winston and Melissa Rauch. Their film, The Bronze, which they co-wrote and in which Melissa stars, premieres as the day-one film of the festival—in the same spot where eventual best-picture nominee Whiplash premiered last year.

The Sundance Springboard: 11 Potential Breakthrough Actors

The comedy is one of the most buzzed-about titles in this year's lineup, with Rauch leading the pack as a talent to watch. Here's hoping she's deserving of gold and not bronze for her potentially star-making performance.

In contrast to the good reviews that The Bronze seems to be getting, the mouth-breathing juvenile frat boys at Ain't It Cool News have taken a somewhat negative view of the film, saying essentially that it wasted its potential (though they didn't outright hate it, surprisingly). Honestly, the only reason I still visit AICN is to see what kind of scoops they get on future film and television projects; the writing is pureile nonsense, the comment sections are filled with knuckle-dragging idiots, and they! never! met! an! exclamation! point! they! didn't! like!

Melissa's film sold at Sundance

From Variety:  http://variety.com/2015/film/news/sundance-relativity-in-final-negotiations-for-the-bronze-1201413970/

Sundance: Relativity Buys "The Bronze" for $3 Million

Relativity has nabbed the bawdy comedy “The Bronze” for $3 million, sources confirm to Variety.

The film features a foul-mouthed former Olympic gymnast, played by “Big Bang Theory” star Melissa Rauch, that’s very much in the tradition of “Big Santa.” There had been some back and forth about the number of screens the picture will roll out on when it debuts in theaters, but those issues were resolved on Saturday afternoon.

Variety first reported that Relativity had made an initial offer on the film. The sum was originally at about $2 million but climbed as talks progressed.

By the way...there is full Sundance Coverage under the TV/Movies area of Chit/Chat where the article above was already included.   Make sure to check there for daily Sundance news.

By the way, the top performer at Sundance last year got a deal for $3.5Mil.   The average prices are under  $1Mil...so this is a huge deal for Melissa!  It is very exciting for her. Our article gives a good comparison and how good this deal is for her.
