I just drop by to let latest news about Mayim Emmy nom

Look this quote:

“Working Against Her: Human? Ick! Bring on the funny! The tendency is to think that "Big Bang Theory" fans mostly love the nerdsploitation, so when anything becomes more "real" than "cartoonish," they become uncomfortable.”

I have a hard time agreeing with the commenter here.   Good grief, no one can remain cartoonish all the time and stay a believable character.  I agree they normalized her a bit too much last year, but I don't think it takes away from her strength as an actress.   What bothers me more is that she had very little to work with other than epidsodes 6.10 and 6.23, neither of which they submitted.  In the episodes they submitted, she basically had a line or two and that was it so it is going to be difficult for her to get a nom purely because the show submitted material that didn't highlight ALL the actors well.   The girls were barely in one of the episodes they submitted (Egg Salad) other than the scene with Sheldon's Council of Ladies and that was a short scene and each girl had basically only a single line.  So how does that help the girls get a nomination?  Likewise the Closet Configuration, while it was a bit better, was basically all Sheldon and Howard focus.   So again, not much help for the girls.   Very frustrating for all the women on the show.

I actually think the commenter is saying what we are saying. That it's good she's being developed at 360 degrees rather than being kept cartoonish but that they fear that TBBT do not appreciate that, and so that could work against her this year (as in, the people voting might not care much about her more "dramatic" performances but they just want more tiaras).

In any case, I don't think she has as good of a chance to win this year, unfortunately. Like you said, she's had some moments of brilliance but for the most part she wasn't given much to work with and a lot of the second half of the season was just playing punching-bag to Sheldon. I think most other actresses would have done much worse with what she was given, to be honest. I am still shocked at how much I liked that blow-out scene in 6x15 given that I was dreading it from the taping report because I thought it would be too mean and depressing. She nailed that one in so many ways. I don't know that many others might have made a scene that could have been so painful so incredibly hilarious.

I see that as a negative that you'd give at a job interview that's actually really a positive  :icon_lol: Honestly I think Mayim does a really great job at humanizing her character while still keeping the humor.

Agree with you Koops...not many could have done so much with so little she had to work with.   Likewise she nailed every scene.  I just hope that somehow she still will get a nom.  Once she gets the nom, she can submit work that really highlights her talent.

Thanks for the article post.  While she sounds like her summer is relaxing, it seems she has been busy and traveling a lot of it for STEM, which I was surprised she didn't mention.   I am glad she is spending time with the boys.  Sounds like she can't wait to see where they take Shamy.

I think that they  not fully used her talent, she always gives 100% from herself to play Amy best, and had so little work. She shows Amy as a woman of character who knows what she wants, thus she has become more human and less cartoony, has become more reliable and therefore we can more or less identify with her character. They should give a chance to her, that her talent was fully shown,  an example is  how brilliantly she played this season, I can not choose a specific episode, because she played brilliantly in all the scenes and especially with Jim.
