No the chat did not happen.   Sadly we didn't get notification of her cancelation formally ahead of time either.  We have not heard back from Mayim, her people, or Gold Derby about a new date or time yet.  As soon as I get a new date, I will let you know.

Check out Mayim's Interview about Shamy and the finale.    Favorite  two quotes:

Do you have a favorite Amy/Sheldon moment?

Our first cuddle was special. When he said “I love you” was special. Jim and I get to find a lot of those moments together, even if they’re not scripted. That’s the neat thing about working with someone like him.

What’s been the biggest challenge of playing Amy?

Not trying to be a female version of Jim Parsons. Everybody loves Jim Parsons, and we don’t need another Jim Parsons. He’s perfect the way he is. So my challenge has been how to give my character different flavors, so she’s not just imitating him.

I admire that while writers intended to make her just female version of Jim she understood better that show really doesn't need one and made Amy her own. I think that's the main reason she stayed for so long and is now received by majority of viewers very positively.

I'm not Jewish, but I like re-reading Mayim's blog posts about tzniut. I may not agree with her on some points (about pants, bikinis) but she has good points that I follow myself (no cleavage baring, no mini skirts).

Mayim Bialik, PhD
Actress and Activist
Background

Mayim Hoya Bialik currently stars as Amy Farrah Fowler in the CBS hit comedy “The Big Bang Theory,” for which she received Emmy nominations in 2012 and 2013 in the Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series Category. In 2014, she received her first SAG Award nomination, also for her role on the show, in the Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Comedy Series category.

Bialik was born in San Diego, California, to first-generation Jewish-American parents who are documentary filmmakers and teachers. Her early acting roles include playing the young Bette Midler character in "Beaches" and the quirky Blossom Russo character on the NBC television sitcom “Blossom.” More recently she’s had recurring roles on the ABC Family show "Secret Life of the American Teenager” and the Fox Network show “’Til Death.”

Bialik earned a BS in Neuroscience and Hebrew and Jewish Studies, as well as a PhD in Neuroscience, from UCLA. She serves as the spokesperson for Texas Instruments, inspiring young women to engage in STEM careers, and she has worked with such brands and organizations as DeVry University, Gillette (Man of Steel Campaign), and Old Navy. She has authored two books, one on attachment parenting titled Beyond the Sling and the other a vegan family cookbook titled Mayim’s Vegan Table.

Bialik is a board member of several Jewish philanthropic organizations and supports a variety of charitable organizations, including the Gift of Life Foundation and People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA).

Pretty much what she does in most of her talks...but gave a brief family history then focused on her own educational history, shared that she got back into show business for health insurance and how she now uses her education and actress status to education on STEM and encourage more girls and young women to get involved in the sciences and that she also writes, etc.

She did reveal that she had to get back immediately following her talk and could not be available for photos or signatures.

She introduced winners of some awards and then she was out the door.

She literally talked probably about 40 min and then about 20 min was for the awards and she was gone immediately after.

Cats and Mayim Bialik?!?!?! Hoo!!!

Dogs and Jim Parsons?!?!?! Hoo!!!

Seriously, her lecture sounds awesome. I would like to hear that. I hope it will be uploaded to YouTube. Oh, and Jack Brayer interviewing Li'l Bub spells F-U-N.

An Evening with Mayim Bialik at RIMAC arena

See the neuroscientist and actress live on May 27th, 2015 from 6:00pm - 7:30pm

Mayim Bialik is best known for her lead role as Blossom Russo in the early-1990s NBC television sitcom “Blossom” and now appears regularly on the #1 comedy in America, CBS’ “The Big Bang Theory” playing neurobiologist Amy Farrah Fowler, a role for which she has received one Screen Actors Guild nomination and two Emmy nominations. Mayim has also earned her Ph.D from UCLA in neuroscience. We believe that Mayim embodies our college's focus on the intersection of culture, art, and technology. Sixth College will be renamed for the day, every May 27th as Mayim Bialik College!
