‘Big Bang’ Co-Stars Mayim Bialik & Melissa Rauch Get Major Salary Bumps As Show Faces License Fee & More Cast Negotiations

By NELLIE ANDREEVA | Wednesday September 18, 2013 @ 12:34pm PDTTags: CBSMayim BialikMelissa RauchThe Big Bang TheoryWarner Bros. TV

EXCLUSIVE: The newest additions to the cast of CBS‘ hit comedyThe Big Bang Theoryhave scored nice salary bumps. I’ve learned thatMayim Bialik and Melissa Rauch — regulars on Big Bang since fall 2010 having started off as guest starring-turned-recurring players on the popular comedy — have both renegotiated their current salaries, which have been in the $20,000-$30,000 range per episode. No one is commenting but I hear the duo will be making about double that, in the neighborhood of $60,000, this coming season, with their pay steadily increasing every year to reach close to $100,000 an episode by the end of their contracts. As a result of the renegotiation, I hear Bialik and Rauch also have added a year to their current deals.

It is going to be a big season behind-the-scenes atBig Bang, which, six years into its run, is firing on all cylinders. Over the next eight months, Big Bangfaces license fee negotiations as the series is currently renewed by CBS through this season, as well as contract negotiations with the entire original cast, whose deals also are all up at the end of this season. With the series doing so well and eying a potential strong showing at the Emmys this weekend, none of these is going to be easy. Like the salary renegotiations in 2010, leads Johnny Galecki, Jim Parsons and Kaley Cuoco are expected to negotiate in one group and Simon Helberg and Kunal Nayyar in another. Observers expect Galecki, Parsons and Cuoco, currently at $350,000 an episode, to land north of $500,000 when it’s all said and done.

Big Bang is coming off its highest-rated season ever with a string of series highs. It is a mega hit for two networks, CBS and TBS, which airs it in off-network syndication, and a golden goose for producer Warner Bros TV.

No offense to the author, but I hardly consider them getting a "Major" increase when they were already so under-paid compared to the other actors on the show.   It is sort of disheartening to hear they are still way underpaid.

I agree with you stardust. When you see that the main trio is earning 350,000 per ep, It's just justice to increase Mayim and Melissa's salary, given their growing contribution to the show. And even with that, there remains a big difference.

When I first read this article I thought that the figures made no sense and they must have gotten it wrong, because the whole talk about renewals and years didn't add up to me. But since it seems to be accurate, this whole salary thing is really disheartening. That's why I hate money, makes even the happiest of workplaces incredibly ruthless and unfair. I'd like to know who is involved in deciding who gets what, because it would be incredibly depressing to think that Chuck believes this is all M&M are worth. Either that or they have terrible negotiators. I find it appalling that there is such a pay-gap not necessarily between M&M and the main 3, that is fair enough, but between them and Simon and Kunal. I mean, I'm sorry but I would argue that Mayim in particular has stolen the thunder of Simon and Kunal as far as popularity goes, not to mention she's the only one with multiple Emmy noms that isn't Jim. How can they be so unappreciated?

She looks beautiful.  Love the dress.  It is so becoming on her and so feminine.   She really is stunning.  I saw the THR woman call her stunning as well.   ;)

Here she is receiving her certificate from the Academy for her 2013 Nomination:

From Glamour:

Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy nominee Mayim Bialik, wearing a matching coral Tadashi Shoji dress with Nicole Miller shoes, said she'll be celebrating at the Evening Before Party the night before the Emmys. "It's really great because there's no carpet and no dress code, so I can just hang out with the cast and celebrate together without the pressure of the red carpet.”

Bialik also spilled some upcoming Big Bang scoop. "Simon Helberg and I have scenes alone for the first time this coming season and we sing together. It’s hysterical. I’ve never done karaoke and Simon kept teasing me about that." What'd they sing? None other than Neil Diamond!

Still waiting to see how this starts - Most likely in Sheldons apartment -

Actress Mayim Bialik's wish is finally coming true as her character Amy and Howard (Simon Helberg) are doing some scenes together, away from their noisy group.  "I finally get to have some scenes with the Wolowitz character," Mayim Bialik says, as quoted by E! Online. "We've never had scenes alone, and it involves singing and it's awesome."

Mayim now has double reasons to celebrate as she has got herself a huge pay hike, as well. Deadline.com reports that Mayim and Melissa Rauch, who plays Bernadette in the hit sitcom, have successfully renegotiated their current pay -- $20,000 to $30,000. Both the actresses are likely to take home almost double of what they are currently earning - nearly $60,000 per episode.

My expectations for her win were such a rollercoaster since she was nominated. At first I didn't think she'd get nominated, then I didn't think she'd win, then for some reason I became so hopeful she would win that it was a big let down last night.

But, going back to the reasons I originally thought she wouldn't win, I can see that she didn't exactly have the best or most material this year compared to S4 and 5. I actually thought she deserved an Emmy for S4 already and the tiara scene from last year was so iconic she was definitely robbed. But as much as I know Fish Guts was probably the only ep where she featured so prominently, I also think it was a tricky one to submit. The spanking, as much as they love it, has been a controversial scene with critics and, IMO, it might have played against her with the voters. All it takes is to have a few voters finding it offensive and there you have it. It's one thing to put forth something daring but this is kind of the equivalent of Jim submitting Egg Salad, in a way: outrageous but kind of controversial. Jim did SUCH a great job picking his episode. And it should shut up all the people who say he doesn't win anymore since Mayim joined the cast, since 2 of his 3 Emmys were for Shamy episodes and the only year he didn't win out of the three Mayim's been in was when he submitted a non-Shamy ep.

I personally thought she should have gone with Spoiler. She did such a great job in the scene where she blows up at Sheldon. There's not enough of her in Love Spell, and I think the show submitted Love Spell for the Best Comedy nom already. But then again, it was tricky. She just didn't have as strong an Amy-centric episode this year as she did in previous seasons. Most of the ones where she had a lot of scenes were for the benefit of Sheldon's development, rather than Amy's. Fingers crossed for S7!
