I personally think both have their advantages and disadvantages. Cats don`t nibble on your shoes but they can stratch your couch so yeah. And cats do what they want you can`t tell them what to do but dogs are animals you can train better when you have the patience for it. And sure dogs miss you when you leave the house why would they not they love their owner/s. A dog can cost more than a cat but only if you own a big dog. And hairless cats are not my cup of tea they creep me out. I prefer cats with hair they´re cuter. So yeah I like both: cats and dogs. April Posted June 10, 2016 Posted June 10, 2016 I'm a cat person like her so YAY CATS! ;D I grew up with cats but I developed an allergy against them which makes me super sad cause I'd love to have a kitty living with me. Oh well... Anyway, I had to laugh so hard at her starting out with the poo though because that is also my #1 reason to prefer cats over dogs. If dogs are so great why can't they use a litter box?? LOL (I know some people try and even succeed at training their dogs to use a litter box but it's often really really difficult and not a 100% solution, meaning you still have to go outside with the dog daily.) As for training cats: they can be taught some rules and if you provide them with a good alternative scratching post they'll mostly leave your furniture alone. And when they (the neighbours) are on holiday they don`t let their two cats into their house only outside of it. Jonny Posted June 10, 2016 Posted June 10, 2016 Don't have a cat or dog but I've always had the impression that Mayim is correct in that dogs obviously need more attention and are more dependent on their owners than a cat is. I know there is a view that dogs genuinely love their owners but cats can display mixed behaviour and see themselves as the center of their universe with their owners serving them. I remember that video a while back of a young child being attacked by a dog outside his home and the family cat came to the rescue to see the dog off and they had some animal behaviorists who said the cat defended the child because they saw the child as their property. And now I kinda understand slightly the difference between her GROK videos and what she'll share on the youtube channel. And I'm so not a cat person. They freak me out. I just lost my dog 2.5 weeks ago and everyone wants me to get a cat. Ummm, no thanks. I've come across some cool cats, but none cool enough for me to want my own. I have helped to raise quite a few kittens in my life and they are really easy to handle because of their independence. Training them to use the litter box is usually not a big deal and apart from keeping them to scratch your sofa or jumping onto furniture where you don't want them to be they usually do not make much trouble. If you do right by them they'll be the most loyal, cuddly and sweet family members you can imagine. And since you mention the cat chases dog away incident: I've seen that a few times myself. My parents live in the countryside and sometimes you'd have straying dogs roaming around the village and when they got onto our homestead they'd occasionally be greeted by a very angry cat.
