OUC Speakers at Dr. Phillips Center Returns with BIG BANG THEORY's Mayim Bialik and More

Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts and OUC - The Reliable One announced today that actress, author and neuroscientist Mayim Bialikwill kick off the second year of the popular speaker series, "OUC Speakers at Dr. Phillips Center."

Best known for her critically acclaimed role as Amy Farrah Fowler on CBS' The Big Bang Theory, Bialik will explore seemingly dissimilar - yet altogether entertaining - topics such as the work of the brain and behavioral development; her life as an actress and scientist; and the special relationship that exists between The Big Bang Theory and its audience. Her speaking engagement will take place Saturday, April 14 in the Walt Disney Theater.

Tickets for "An Evening with Mayim Bialik" presented by the Dr. Phillips Center in association with UCF Celebrates the Arts start at $35; a limited number of tickets will also be available for $200 for a meet and greet with the actress. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, March 2.

MAYIM BIALIK IS HEADING TO ISRAEL TO TAKE PART IN ANTISEMITISM FORUM

TV star and Jewish activist Mayim Bialik will be heading to Israel next month. But she's not taking part in a new acting project - Bialik will be speaking at the Foreign Ministry's Global Forum for Combating Antisemitism.

In a video released on Monday, Bialik said she is looking forward to taking part in the Jerusalem confab, which will be held March 19-21.

"I'm very excited to be heading to Israel this March," she said. "I'll be speaking on hate speech on the web and in social media and I hope to see you there."

The ministry said Bialik will be taking part in a panel discussion on the discourse of hatred online.

Paley Fest is on Wednesday 3/21.  There is also a table read that day.  I assume she would be back for both.

Q&A: The Big Bang Theory’s Mayim Bialik Relaunches Her GrokNation Website With a Lifestyle Theme

Mayim Bialik has always wanted more out of her career than just acting. TV audiences know her as The Big Bang Theory’s Amy Farrah Fowler (who is engaged to Jim Parsons’ Sheldon Cooper in the show) or as the star of NBC ’90s sitcom Blossom; on top of that, she’s also a neuroscientist in real life, and she’s a passionate writer about topics like parenting and Judaism on her website GrokNation—which is about to get a big overhaul.

Partnering with new editor-in-chief Christina Kelly (who formerly oversaw Sassy and YM), Bialik is relaunching GrokNation on Thursday. The relaunch positions GrokNation as a lifestyle site that covers news, style, soul, culture and home, with an approach to create greater consciousness and improve the world.

Bialik spoke with Adweek about GrokNation’s relaunch, why being outspoken can make it tough for her to work with brands and what she’ll do after The Big Bang Theory ends its run.

Interesting article. I know Grok has been hinting at some kind of change coming, I hope it doesn’t change to a more “activist” type of site...

There's an article in an Israeli newspaper site that says Mayim got to Israel yesterday and will be participating in several events next week. Is this fake news? I mean, isn't she supposed to be in Paleyfest on Wednesday? It's a long flight, not like going to New York for a talk show...

She is in IsraeI right now, she has posted severaI IG stories and pics about her trip; I think she's scheduled for an event which ends on March 19th, so she shouId make it to the PaIeyfest

ETA I've checked and the event, a Forum about how  to combat antisemitism,  starts on March 19th, it ends on the 21st (not sure if Mayim wiII attend aII of it, though), and Mayim is invited at a gaIa dinner on the 20th; as a matter of fact  it's a busy schedule, but I guess she might Ieave soon after the gaIa and stiII make it to PaIeyfest
