Superlovelexi
BEST VALENTINES DAY EPISODE EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! <3 <3 So many wonderful funny cute adorable things happened. I loved how Sheldon actually knew what Amy's favorite color was and that she loved monkeys which well I mean everyone SHOULD love monkeys right! lol. I love how he couldn't care less about dropping 2Gs on presents for her and sent Alex out to get really nice gifts then in end gave her something totally free and she loved it even more because it came from his heart. SQUEE!!! Even though I would have loved it if he kissed her too, the hug was still really funny so I'll take what I can get for now. There's still plenty of time. Amy is best girlfriend on show hands down so much nicer and more considerate than Penny IMPO. She actually knew Sheldon didn't really like going out and having to pretend like he enjoying it, so she did the right thing and stayed home with him to eat Pizza and watch Star Wars-Trek lol. That was so thoughtful and what he did for her was thoughtful even though at end it was already driving her nuts kind of like how she thought relationship agreement was romantic at first until he start bugging her nonstop lol. But, she still went to go see about his non brain tumor and his fake Asian bump so that says a lot about how much she loves him. He better never let her go cause he's never going find a better girlfriend that's for sure. I was also super happy that we got to see Dale again! I was just watching the episode of SEason five where STuart takes Amy out on a date and Dale is manning the store earlier today not knowing that he was going to be in this one so that made me jump off couch happy. He just had one scene back then and one scene this time, but I hope we get to see more of Dale cause I think he's adorable and sort of funny in the weirdest way lol. I also thought Raj's new love interest looked like she could be Dale's sister. She was very awkward and shy in a cute way I really liked that about her. I like the cute Bee shirt she was wearing I wonder if that was a nod to the Bazinga bee that got named after the phrase from the show. Either way it was so great to see Raj talking to a girl and asking her out to coffee. It reminded me so much of when SHAMY first started at a coffee shop with Sheldon offering to buy Amy a beverage and NOW LOOk AT THEM!! I know Raj's situation might not go so smoothly like SHAMY did, but I do want see him happy too someday. I lol'd at the LATER LOSERS!! though. Also, did anyone notice other two nerd girls at the comic book store listening to Raj's speech, the guys weren't freaking out to see them there like when Amy, Bernadette and Penny came to store all together. STuart should have been trying flirt with one of them. One was sitting next to Lonely Larry and one was standing up talking to nerd guys. If they were at the lonely people party must mean they are single too, so yeah I hope they find someone for Stuart too eventually. I got say the micro gift Howard was going to give Bernadette was also super thoughtful present and I wish he actually got to give it to her, but its thought that counts I guess and DOING THE DAMN LAUNDRY!! lol. I don't mind it when Howard and Bernie fight cause they always make up in the cutest ways and they are married so I seriously don't ever really see them breaking up for good like we have to worry about with other non married ones. They just fight like old married couple and then make up so it works. But MY GOD!! Penny was being such a BITCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I mean really I consider my self a Lenny shipper sort of, but man do they make it hard sometimes!! I get that she had bad break ups and relationships before and of course we all know about her commitment issues, but you know what SO FREAK WHAT! Doesn't give her the right to treat Leonard like dirt. All he tried to do was be Romance Ninja and have a nice night out with his favorite girl and another couple. It wasn't his fault that her ex cheated, she had no right to take it out on him. If she didn't want go out she could have done what Amy did and said baby lets just spend a quiet night in just two of us and make out on couch, but no she has to make night all about her past BS!! and ruin Valentine's day for Leonard too. See this is why I SHIP SHAMY so much more than Lenny now and always will. Sheldon didn't want go out either, but he was even willing to practice a fake smile just to make Amy happy and Amy was willing to give up on her night just to make him happy so that he would smile for real. His real smiles were so beautiful by the way they made me want cry. Jim Parsons is terrific actor I mean I just love him more and more he knocked it out of park tonight and so did Mayim. I'm tired of writers make Penny act like some wannabe Rachel from friends or really just any lame girlfriend from any 90s sitcom that constantly find ways to sabotage her own happiness and fine if she's not ready to get married. I'm glad Leonard said he wont propose anymore writers better make him stick to it cause I'm tired of seeing him getting gutted like he did tonight. He should be able to be romantic with his girlfriend and not be made to feel like CRAP because of it. Penny is so lucky he loves her so much because honestly if Alex had been around at end of night I almost would have wanted Leonard to dump Penny for good and go be with Alex. Penny saved herself only a little bit by at least acknowledging that she'd been a total BITCH, but she still should have apologized and she should have apologized for calling Leonard and jerk last week just because he wanted to move in with her. She acts like she doesn't want hurt his feelings, but she still does it all the time because she is SELFISH and IMMATURE and well A BITCH!! Everyone else at least tried to make day special for other people even SHELDON tried!! Penny didn't even get Leonard any gift or even mention trying to do anything special for him at all. She just well I just don't know but it makes me not like her as much as I want to but yeah besides her the episode was STELLAR and loved everything else about it!! SO GOOD JOB!! koops
haha I'm going to be the one crashing this enthusiasm. Apologies in advance. I thought it was rather underwhelming (watched it only once and rewatched some bits though, so I might change my mind). The two scenes I liked were the last Lenny scene and the Shamy scene, but other than that I thought there was something off in this episode. Sheldon was really weirdly characterized in the scenes with Alex, I can't quite put my finger on it. The way they had Penny ruin the evening at the restaurant also seemed a bit forced and some of the stuff they said to each other there was.. ouch. I was disappointed with Dale, I was looking forward to him returning but there was nothing funny there. And I didn't find the H/B story that compelling, although they are cute, as always. But, I LOVED that they finally had Penny say out loud that she has a commitment issue. To me, it was the counterpart to Sheldon's declaration in 6x14. They are now both acknowledging they have issues and they are very aware of it. I agree that they made it sound like Leonard will wait forever, but hey... he loves her. I said many times that one of my main dream scenarios would be for Penny to propose to Leonard and now that it sounds like this is what's going to happen I'm extremely satisfied. Amy was top notch. She truly is an amazing girlfriend. I just wish the writers would loosen Sheldon up a little. I loved his gift, I know some are saying he was being his selfish self but I think you're missing the point. I also had the same reaction when I read the taping report but he's essentially telling her she's the one person he wants by his side if something bad happens to him, that means a lot. Also, the way he presented it as it was a gift he had thought about and come up with taking into account what it means to her and to him shows great growth, imo. And her reaction should be enough to explain how much that is meant to mean. The only thing I'm starting to get aggravated by is that the writers are really trying to keep him too rigid. The world is not going to come crashing down if you let him return a hug at least once a year and have him enjoy it. eta: HOLY CRAP did Amy kind of sat in his spot??? eta2: The tag is hilarious. LOL. Moonbase
All in all pretty average. The shining star for me was Howard, he had some good lines. When he was on the phone to Bernadette "okay okay OKAY okay" and the pain in the ass card. Love it. Then their argument at dinner, was the first time I've ever found this couple funny. The comic book store stuff was dull. The best moment for me was the few seconds when Raj meets the girl. I've been saying for ages if they have to give him someone… please make her a nerd, because we don't have a nerd girl on the show. So cool. As for Penny and Leonard. What are they doing? Why would she care about some guy from over 6 years ago? And yet again her excuse is 'commitment issues'. Boy they are really flogging a dead horse here. And Sheldon is so annoying this season. I don't find him funny anymore, he's changed too much. I rarely laugh at anything he says. He was my favourite character, but these days he just makes me cringe. Giving Amy the emergency contact letter was sort of touching (for him) and Amy was happy enough but the hug bothered me. Three years ago Sheldon hugged Penny, TWICE. With his arms right round and she was just a friend. Now he can't even give Amy a little tap or something? Lame.

I made the exact same point about the hug twice in two different threads, but, in my opinion, it's the complete opposite reason why they don't have him return the hug. They do not want to change him. But I agree, lame.
BlackWhiteRose
I loved the episode. Penny is human end of story. And I`m, just sick and tired of the fact to see that some people compare her with a character from a 90s comedeyseries. Penny is Penny and she´s very unique. TBBT is a unique show and not a 2.0 show of this 90s comedyseries..... Sorry but thats really my true opinion. Back to the episode: Shamy was so sweet! It was nice to see Alex again. And all that money that Sheldon gave her OMG that was much :D I liked Penny & Leonard. I`ll always ship them and that they sometimes have a fight makes them humans. Pennys reaction at the restaurant was human. She was so shocked and surprised to see her exboyfriend proposing to the girl who was the girl that he cheated on Penny. Of course Leonard wasn`t happy about Pennys behaviour but they talked about it and made up. Loved his Romance Ninja *LOL* And it was great to see Stuart again. Raj was so funny with his " Later Loosers!" I cracked up *LOL* Oh and Bernie and Howard are a sweet couple! Haha Bernies comment to Howard that the X Box is there where he wouldn`t look for it :D loved it! Really a nice Valentines day episode.

But is was a nicely thought out present, one that shows once again that he knows exactly what Amy likes, he didn't need to visit her FB page. As for Penny it wasn't just a bf from 6 years ago, it was the guy that dumped her asking the girl that he dumped her for, to marry him, it would annoy you I think, but being a sitcom of course they had Penny going slightly over the top with her reaction.but then it was nice that Leonard called her out and she admitted her issues, finally they have L/P going the right direction. koops
Oh, I forgot to say that they totally oversold the proposal thing while they were promoting the episode. Leonard barely gets out of his chair before she tells him to get up. Which is totally fine, I thought it would have been horrible if Leonard had actually attempted to propose. Phalanxxx
Great episode all around. The Bitchy/Airheaded Penny was a little much, but apart from that really good. I'm starting to enjoy the addition of the married squabbles from H/B. It's been a part of sitcoms for decades, but it seems to now have a place here, one of the most unlikely shows to even HAVE a married couple. Melissa has been excellent all season, and Helberg is playing well off that in turn I also like seeing Alex get more frustrated with Sheldon as the season unfolds. She's been good and I hope they find a way to keep her around, but it will be interesting how they develop it. The entire Shamy night out/gift exchange segment was strange, awkward, and stiff throughout for everyone watching. But seeing as that's their relationship itself in a nutshell, I thought it was appropriate and romantic in its own fashion (I kinda teared up when Amy read the emergency contact with all the emotion of Meg Ryan). Though I figured the Penny Proposal would come up sooner or later, I didn't think Leonard would be the one to propose it (pun intended). Putting the commitment in Penny's hands is a very nice move. Almost a necessary one, but a good one nonetheless. Leonard's ninja parts showed that he a nerd no matter how well-adjusted he is. The last Ninja moment was probably my favorite scene of the night. I kinda spoiled the Raj speech scene for myself because I snuck a peek at a taping report a couple days ago (I got antsy, don't judge me) but it didn't really deter it much. Pretty much described my view on V-Day, including "Later Losers!!!" part.... Kate Micucci fit in really well, so I hope she sticks around for awhile. All in all, one of the stronger episodes of the season. even though BBT should almost be in a different category, being a sitcom, it's always hard to know what episodes they will refer back to alot during the season. I have a feeling this will be one used often over the next few weeks. Ummmmmmmm........ I think thats it for now....................

Moonbase
Alex was really good with Sheldon, almost as good as Penny, but more in an underling way. I hope they have her come back again, she is great as his assistant. I agree, I really warmed up to Alex in this episode. Kiru Breezy
Regarding the hug...Penny and Wil Wheaton are FRIENDS....Amy is his GF....hugs mean something entirely different. But the physical contact wasn't the point of this episode...it was all about the heart. It was a perfect 10.
BazingaFan
I loved the scenes with sheldon and alex, but I do agree they are making sheldon be more of an ass than usual this season at times... and sometimes it does seem to be a little bit too much. but, I've said it before, each season sheldon seems different from the last, not anything new, so this may just be a much more confident sheldon than before. anyone else notice it's the second time he's worn a regular suit and not the ugly plaid coat? He looked really nice.

Martin Pollard
One thing I noticed: Kevin Sussman is supposed to be a regular this season, so you'd expect his name to be in the opening credits like previous episodes, but it wasn't. He was in the closing credits. What's up with that? Are the producers pulling a Sarah Gilbert, chalking up his regular status as a failed experiment? I find it interesting that the writers pulled the scene with raj making inappropriate comments to him, hinting at a homosexual relationship, right before introducing his new love interest. Showing Stuart's reactions; it was almost like they were putting a close on that joke, before starting something new.
idrive65
Simon Helberg is so underrated! And how cute is he in real life, with shaggy hair instead of the Beatles bowl cut? How many ways can a person say "okay" and put a different meaning to each? He's great. At dinner in Penny's apartment, I liked Leonard's nonchalant shrug when Penny implyed that he's still uncool, as if to say, "Yeah, I'm king of the nerds, baby, deal with it!" I also liked Penny's reaction when Leonard said he would *never* propose to her again - "Are you breaking up with me?!" Would serve her right if he did, but we all know that won't happen. Raj's speech at the party was sweet, and I didn't like his "losers" comment. Sheldon was a selfish jerk for keeping that drawing. And I wonder how much of that $2000 Alex spent on a nice gift for herself.
