jimnashv Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013 Howdy, We're planning a trip to the West coast later this year and thought it would be fun to make it a theme vacation that includes real attractions, venues or places visited or mentioned by the cast during the show. So far we have the La Brea tarpits, Disneyland, looking into the Napa Valley wine train (I realize Napa is way north) and a few other places. We've already done the WB Studio tour. Not really interested in Las Vegas. What other places can you remember mentioned in the show to add to our week of BBT themed fun! Looking forward to all your suggestions... walnutcowboy Posted February 14, 2013 Posted February 14, 2013 There is KNOTTS BERRY FARM Griffith Park and its Observatory Mt. Wilson Cir and Video Rd, It is NEAR Batmans Cave (from the 60's TV show) It's at 2960 Canyon Drive. It's called Bronson Caves, Huntington Library/Gardens. Descanso Gardens, Chinatown, LA Zoo, Olvera Street with Union Station across the street, Just to name a few. Hope this helped, If you need further info on the above, let me know, I've been to all of them.
jimnashv Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 Thanks for the recommendations! Thinking about prioritizing specifically mentioned attractions / locations from the show. I guess this makes it a trivia question as well. Anyway, what we've heard mentioned so far are: Carnies in studio city Travel town Hollywood carnies Santa Monica Pier Ferris wheel Long beach murder mystery (on the QM2 I think) NAIA valley wine train Hometown buffet Let me know what you think. Thanks again and hope to get out there this year.
walnutcowboy Posted February 16, 2013 Posted February 16, 2013 Travel town is the part of Griffith Park that has the(parked) trains. At the other end of the park is a mini train ride(for everyone) and pony rides for the kids.. Santa Monica Pier (Ferris Wheel and other rides) is cool Hollywood Blvd. On weekend nights to see the crazies. Hometown Buffet's are all over (but come hungry).

jimnashv Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 Ha - does Cheesecake Factory do a Factory tour? THAT would be awesome!
walnutcowboy Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 I heard on a rerun them mention The Arboretum (Of La County). It has birds, plants, buildings you've seen in MANY movies. I spent some of my childhood there. It's Not as exciting as The Cheesecake Factory but it's a cool place to kick back and enjoy quiet surroundings for an afternoon. walnutcowboy Posted April 2, 2013 Posted April 2, 2013 Don't forget the Chevron Gas Station on E. Colorado Blvd. and S. Hill St.* Which is SUPPOSED to be on the corner of the Guys Apartment. As seen in the episode when Leonard (in his bathrobe) is caught by Sheldon coming back into the apartment after a night with Penny. * I believe its the ONLY Chevron Station on Colorado Blvd. in Pasadena. walnutcowboy Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 (edited) It's several hours away. If you are coming SOON to So. Cal., try the ORIGINAL RENAISSANCE (PLEASURE) FAIRE. It's only about 20+- min. East of Pasadena. It ends May 19th. And it's only on weekends. GOGGLE it to be sure. Edited May 13, 2013 by walnutcowboy

jimnashv Posted May 3, 2013 Posted May 3, 2013 Ummm.....Think I'll pass based on the criteria that the attractions need to be on the West coast.
