A variation on "Things I'd like to see in the show..."

Anyone interested in prognosticating on this season's big finish please put your reputation on the line and make your prediction for the finale. Anti-speculation might be fun too.

We have had dinner, snow, remorse nookie & weird science, melodrama and low earth orbit.

My money is on therapy for Raj and a trip to the tropics for the UV sensitive Leonard. Maybe alone. Definitely no babies for the Shamy. Unfortunately for some, Bernadette does not die, either.

What have you got?

Gosh, it's hard to make predictions about season finales, it's a lot easier with the series finale, imo. 

 

If I have to try and guess:

 

1) Therapy for Raj. Or something along those lines. I agree. My guess is that Lucy will be gone before the finale. But not necessarily permanently. I think she'll be the kick in the pants he needs to do something about his issues.

2) Lenny are the hardest ones to predict for me. They are stable and happy now, they've settled the whole marriage thing, and I do NOT think Penny will propose just yet, nor will they move in together. So, if I have to guess, I'd say maybe a holiday to consolidate the relationship? Maybe Leonard gets some big grant or Penny gets a relatively decent acting job and they go off somewhere to celebrate.

3) Shamy season finales usually set the tone for the following year. Given this year's tone and Sheldon's progress I am guessing either something physical (but not sexual) OR Sheldon letting some sort of cat out of the bag. There's a lot Amy doesn't realize is going on under the surface and I think it's going to come out in the finale. The other option I'd like (rather than predict) is have Amy go off for the summer to work on something, given that her project with the monkeys seems over.

4) H/B I think will be left alone this year. I don't think they'll have a major storyline in the season finale unless it is somehow connected to Raj. There will be no Howardette babies. If they do have a storyline it might be a pregnancy scare.

Howdette has a baby and as per their agreement Howard has to stay home to care for it.

Bernie's pregnancy sets off Amy and she gives Sheldon an ultimatum: she wants sex or they break up!

Penny gets a roll on a series.

Leonard makes a major discovery, making Sheldon jealous. 

As much as Raj needs therapy, he still doesn't get it and instead decides to help Howard take care of the baby.

Penny lands a role for the next season of Walking Dead

 

Leonard gets laid off from Cal-tech, takes shifts at the cheesecake factory

 

Bernadette job offers her a promotion, on the east coast, making Howie and Bernie the first to contemplate leaving Pasadena.

Lucy breaks up with Raj and he hits rock bottom, maybe by moving in with Mrs. Wolowitz.  The gang stages an intervention, which is unsuccessful at first.  In the meantime, the intervention is a catalyst for several other things to happen:

 

Penny realizes she has enjoyed being a guidance counselor for the guys for several years and decides to go back to school to become a guidance counselor. 

 

Leonard decides he only became a scientist because of his mommy issues, and he quits the university to pursue his dream of becoming a cellist.  (This will be reversed in season 7.)

 

Howard, after taking care of Raj for a while, gets anxious to have a child.  Bernadette still isn't ready, and she and Howard will have to deal with that in season 7.

 

Sheldon and Amy each start to think about his hang-up with physical contact.  Amy, not knowing he has been working on it, loses faith that he will ever get past it and decides to break up with him.  At the same time, Sheldon realizes it's time to push himself to the next level.  Amy goes to break up with Sheldon but before she does, he gets up the nerve to kiss her.

Shesh! The season finale is only 7 episodes away so not much is going to happen that soon.

 

It will probably be focused on one of the couples, maybe if Lucy and Raj work out it will be them. Or maybe all the couples together somehow. They may even do a cliff hanger episode for a change...

I think Lucy will be around for the remainder of the season. A hint on whether she sticks around after that will be if she joins the ladies group. I think Penny and Leonard may get engaged, but not married by the end of this season or early next season. I think incremental changes for the Shamy unless  Howdette gets pregnant, then Amy will want faster change (see previous post) She still has about three and a half years on her four year plan. I still don't see Raj getting therapy, unless something major happens.

All of the season finales so far have been about relationships, although season 5's wasn't as obvious:

Season 1 - Leonard and Penny go on a date, and also Sheldon argues with the Chinese restaurant owner

Season 2 - They go to the Arctic, which is a nice scientific thing to do when looking for magnetic monopoles, but it brought out Penny's true feelings about Leonard.

Season 3 - Sheldon meets Amy.

Season 4 - Raj sleeps with Penny

Season 5 - Howard goes to space (not so relationship-centred, however everyone holds hands as well)

Season 6 - I'd guess it'll be something to do with Lenny and Shamy, as Howard and Bernadette have been the focus of much of Season 5. As much as I'm opposed to anything big happening with Shamy, it does seem like something's going to happen. Maybe a kiss which all parties agree to. Not sure. Perhaps something with Raj will happen to do with his mutism.

We only have about 7 episodes left of the season, so I think that the foundation for any major plot point to come has already been laid.

 

1. Raj and Lucy will be featured heavily. It may end badly or will solider on being both torturous and adorkable.

2. Sheldon and Amy will either kiss or Sheldon will hug her on his own steam.

3. Penny will find some acting work and will quit the Cheesecake factory.

 

But I like the idea of bringing the fathers into the fray. Make season 7 be the year they all have to deal with their Daddy issues. Would it be too much to ask the ghost of George Sr be portrayed by John Goodman?

I'm gonna politely decline, because "where are we going" would take us into next season and beyond. I think. I was aiming the limited speculatron view to this seasons full stop. I think it's harder. And I'm crowd sourcing reassurance that Mr Lorre won't stab Leonard and Penny in the heart again. It's kinda my thing.

Unless that was the Crusade tag? Then points. I have that on my iPad, so I might check.

True, but how will they spin them or what threads can they pull out to play with. No one saw the room mate transmogrification coming, but you can play it back as Raj/Penny revenge etc with roots in the past.

Can they pull off an uplifting version of that sort of tsunami. I'd like to see something extraordinary again, but in a good way. What plot points can you pick that would go there.

They have dropped in one new character so that's done.

Yes, and Lucy will important to the rest of the season. I am hoping she is even crazier than she looks requiring the group to perhaps rescue Raj.

 

I think the emotional pay off they've been building to involves Sheldon and Amy. It may be tied to their professional life, since they both are having work challenges this season. And Sheldon has to hug Amy first. I can live with out the kiss if we get the hug.

 

Penny either has to quit the Cheesecake Factory or burn the damn thing to the ground. If it comes to the last part, maybe Lucy could help.
