Guest DroneInTheSun Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 (edited) there is nothing wrong with having a different opinion, actually no one in the Shamy thread agrees on everything at all but you wouldn't know since you never go over here there is something completely wrong in being an assbut about it, saying all over the forum that people who happen to enjoy the Shamy are hysterical women with mental health problems When that's all you ever do, you shouldn't complain when people get pissed off at you. .If you want to be an assbut, be an assbut. But don't you dare complain when people call you out on your shit, because most of us have no patience for double standards. hth Edited May 8, 2013 by Tripper Removed needless repetition. Guest DroneInTheSun Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 Wow, way to ignore the point. In what universe is reminding everyone that people are being entitled to their opinion as long as they don't treat others like shit for them is being "over the top", and since when is this something that is worthy of giving someone "a bad name"? I'd think it's actually common sense, but maybe that's just me. And can we please stop pretending saying "assbutt" or "shit" is the actual worst thing someone can say when I've seen ableist and misogynistic slurs all over the forum but of course no one ever cares because it's not a Shamy who is doing it. Double standars all over the place again and again. Do not love.

Tripper Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 Can we please get this thread back on track? Perhaps more than many other threads, episode threads have a very clear purpose and needn't get dragged down by the usual debates.

tmp Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 So here's how awesome this episode is. My mom, who never watches comedy shows, watched TBBT this week because I told her BN was on it. She liked it so much, she told me to let her know the next time he's a guest star and she'll watch it again.
vasu Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 So this episode is one of the bad ones that I have seen....terribly dull and boring Starting scene : Sheldon creepily fawns over Prof Proton.. He looks surprised and confused.... Middle scene : Sheldon creepily fawns over Prof Proton... He looks surprised and confused.... Ending scene : Sheldon creepily fawns over Prof Proton.. He looks surprised and confused.... The show REPEATS the same joke again and again and again............so can't blame the audience for doing the same

wayelrob Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 I apologize if this is a repeat, but like Penny I didn't know a potato could power a clock. It actually really cool and pretty easy! Here's a video: And I think it's time to recognize- if it can make enough power to run a clock, it could probably also power Professor Proton's pacemaker! Nice but that is not an LED clock, it's an LCD clock.
Lissie Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 Poor Sheldon, I was thinking that the worst is not having a father at all (Howard case) but now I can see that maybe to have a BAD FATHER as he had it is even worst

My fear is that PERHAPS one day only one will remain...and maybe not my favourite! Edited May 9, 2013 by Lissie

I kept watching and then fell off.... I still think casting a famous scientist who wasn't funny playing Prof Proton would have been much funnier than this old American comedian..because it was just creepy! Kutra Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 (edited) As Dr Proton asks Leonard, what do you two talk about? Our resident waitress once more proves that she really does not belong in the same social circle as Leonard and the others. She shd get somebody more to her speed like the ones she dated before Leonard but as her father says Leonard is her only hope not to end up living in a trailer. Pomita Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 Our resident waitress once more proves that she really does not belong in the same social circle as Leonard and the others. As I understand, the whole point of the show is the clash between these two different social circles, and how they eventually learn to accept and assimilate each other. djsurrey Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 I tend to agree with the people who think this episode was written around Bob. I use to watch his shows and this episode was very much like one of his shows, I didn't recognise it a first, but after it was pointed out, I can really see the similarities. Bob was always surrounded by crazies, so they probably made Penny super dumb and Sheldon super childish to support his comedy. Leonard just became the sounding board for his jokes. I don't think the writers really were trying to keep them too much strictly in character with Bob, they were just trying to support his act. I was reading the thread looking for peoples reaction to Penny being made out to be so dumb in this episode. Not typical at all. So while I was disapointed Penny looked so dumb I think SRAM hit the nail on the head. Adjustments were made to have Bob N. on the show. I don't think they would do this for most guest stars but this is Bob Newheart we are talking about and he has had a long carrear in comedy. The "what do you two talk about line" is vintage Newheart and I'd say they gave Penny the dumb lines to set that up. I used to watch The Bob Newhart Show 1972-1978 and Newhart 1982-1990 and yes there were always some rather dumb people around in those shows. Stephen Hawking Posted February 5, 2016 Posted February 5, 2016 For a physicist, Sheldon has a poor grasp of air pressure effects. He says the egg will be sucked into the bottle. In fact, the external air pressure will push the egg into the bottle.
Stephen Hawking Posted June 19, 2016 Posted June 19, 2016 Where can I get an Inkjet Printer like Howard and Bernadette, that prints a whole A4 sheet in a few seconds?
3ku11 Posted June 20, 2016 Posted June 20, 2016 Not sure why people were upset Penny came across dumb. When it comes to Science, she has always been the dumb blonde, she is the anti geek. I guess not so much now, that she married a geek haha. But point is for comedy purposes, and to make allievances for Bob Newhart. I guess they had to have those jokes. I have an HP Officejet 8620 that can print around 30 ppm in color draft mode. That's one ever two seconds. At the highest resolution, it can do a full page in about four seconds. It does copies, and scans and it does it all wirelessly.
