No one is telling anyone to shut up.  It's just a matter of wondering at the futility of saying the same thing over and over that's completely pointless.  It's one thing to say something specific about a story line or a performance, but to sit there and say again and again that the show should go somewhere it's never gonna go just seems so pointless.

Like I said, Fruit Loop is free to state such opinions over and over, but one wonders what is supposed to be accomplished.  FL can hold his/her breath 'til his/her face turns blue, too, but it would be just as effective.

Once again, yes you ARE telling people to shut up. Not in those exact words but by telling them that what they post is fussing, harping, complaining, completely pointless, futile, ineffective and accomplishes nothing. You're trying to intimidate people into not criticizing the show. I have no idea what Fruit Loop's posting history is but I do know that you always say that people are free to state their opinions, but then you jump on them every time they do.

And does anything anyone says out here really "accomplish" anything? It's just an opinion forum. There are people who keep saying over and over and over how they love Sheldon and Amy's relationship but I don't recall you complaining about how completely pointless that is. That doesn't "accomplish" anything either.

See you in September. Maybe. :D

Phanta, I somewhat agree with djvang over here. I actually think your post was fine, and while I completely disagree with what FL is saying, I do think she has a right to post her opinion ad infinitium if it maybe (as long as she isn't spamming the thread which I don't believe she is) - Honestly, from my part, I just ignore such posts - but I don't think it is right to tell someone to move on, and discuss another topic just because you happen to disagree with that person.

In this episode, I never once got the feeling that Sheldon would be missing Leonard , only jealousy and selfishness seemed to motivate his actions.....And the good-bye in the airport scene , it probably is a reminder of how obsessed the writers are with Sheldon's character..... if we blinked our eye we could have missed seeing Leonard and Penny hugging....we could not even see them hugging for a single mississippi...

I agree. Leonard and Penny embrace, and they immediately cut to Sheldon bawling out the window. The worse one for me though was when Leonard and Penny go to kiss goodbye the first time, Sheldon, who clearly knows better, sticks his head in between them to demand attention. If Penny hadn't been quick, she would have kissed Sheldon. This scene in particular is a metaphor for Sheldon with regard to Leonard and Penny. At least this season they've been able to get some time away from him, and the relationship is healthier for it.

I really liked the episode, although Sheldon really took it over the edge a bit

But I agree that they are trying to stuff too much story lines in the 20 minutes. For this special episode you could use the excuse that it was the season finale but unfortunatly they did that quite often in this season.

I do not think there are too many charachters on the show, and I would not want to miss anyone of them. It's just a timing and writing thing.

Can't wait unitl S7 starts to see how this all goes on.

This episode would have been better if they'd left Sheldon at home. I get how they were tying up the the Lucy relationship and moving Raj on, I had no problem with that, but we didn't need Sheldon at the airport, it wasn't funny it was just annoying.

agree. He was like the spoiled little child on the backseat complaining    LOL

@SRAM I agree, the problem isn't the number of couples. With such a large cast, I sometimes feel like the show would benefit more if it did away with unnecessary sub-plots. That way, the main players in the story-in-question would have enough screen time and (some) episodes wouldn't feel so rushed. Twenty minutes sure goes by fast.

Agreed.  I actually think it makes sense to have an "A" plot and a "B" plot, but they need to work on how they write them.  If the "A" plot is an important one, the "B" plot needs to be something small.  One example is The Alien Parasite Hypothesis.  The secondary plot was just Howard and Raj arguing over who would be the sidekick if they were superheroes.  That sort of thing is not a major development.

Whatever your opinion is, all the fussing about it isn't going to change the way the show is.  "Creepy Howard" isn't coming back, the girls aren't going anywhere, and there won't be any regressions from the current developments.

Wishing for the past and complaining about the present isn't going to change anything, so why continue to harp on it?  I mean, what is the point?  Some people may agree with you, most of the fans of the show apparently don't agree, since there's still a huge audience, so while you're certainly free to keep stating your opinion, what you want is NEVER going to happen.

Just sayin'.

I realize the writer aren't going back. But the way everyone else on this board dreams about what they want to see, Why pick on me????

I liked the show the way it was. I am losing interest with the current story line.

Many of us were frustrated by Sheldon's presence in the car at the airport.  Man, I just wanted to smack the guy.  It definitely messed up the goodbye scene.  And many of us, I would anticipate, wanted Leonard and Penny an alone moment for what was clearly a big moment for both of them.

The overall tone of this episode was more dramatic than comedic, with Leonard's leaving and Lucy bailing on Raj (she's really, really got a huge social anxiety problem, which Raj isn't going to be able to fix).  I suspect the writers were concerned with allowing the episode to get too dramatic and tried to come up with a comedic counterbalance to the goodbye scene (kudos to Kaley on a really authentic ILY - Penny's most sincere, to my recollection).  I guess Sheldon's little boy antics in the back seat was their solution.  I wonder, in viewing the final edit of the episode, whether the cast and writers think it was a little too much.  We'll probably never know.   Notwithstanding, it was nice to see Penny offering the ILY first - it was time to take the burden off Leonard to kick start all the emotion (Penny's earlier declaration of being passionate about Leonard didn't quite get there, in my view, and her early episode hallway ILY wasn't exactly intentional).

We'll have different views of how well the show is developing, or not, and how the writers could have improved the episodes.  I am of the camp that likes seeing the characters grow, and I look forward to what Season 7 (and beyond) may hold.  There is always a risk in change, and some wish it was still just about 4 nerds who don't fit in.  But there's a risk in not changing, in trying to keep the characters in the same circumstances.  Some change in the characters is interesting too, although that's a delicate balance.  We don't want Sheldon to change a lot, because we'd lose the essence of his character.  The longer the show runs and the more successful it becomes, I suspect the harder it will be for the writers to maintain the right, if not perfect, balance.  We'll see how they do.

Sheldon in the backseat of the car didn't bother me too much... I felt the writers were showing how Sheldon's brain was dealing with Leonard leaving.  He went bat crap crazy over something not important in order to deny what was really happening (in his usual immature way.  But, I understand that many felt Leonard and Penny should have had their moment and I agree, since the shamy had their moment in the last episode.

I like this approach to Sheldons behaviour!

I think that you have made some good points here, especially about Penny's ILY.  I liked that she said it first and the way that it was said it really shows a lot of development in Penny's character as well as the entire L/P storyline.

I like the way that the creators and writers are allowing the characters to grow and mature as the years progress.  I think this is one of the reasons that the show has grown in its popularity.  It is a sitcom which means it is not meant to be a drama, it is suppose to be funny.  However, the story and some of the drama that is there brings people back week after week.  I know the L/P storyline is what caught my attention, and from the inputs of others there are others drawn to the Shamy story.  I am really curious to see the size the audience when they finally do marry off L/P.

I like this take, and I think it's possible that's what they were going for. It ties in nicely with earlier Sheldon reactions like when he started fixating on trains to get his mind off Amy going out with Leonard. His thoughts have a way of shifting to some old familiar OCD/childish trait when something unfamiliar, confusing or a little threatening happens. Leonard's going away for a while, leaving him alone in the apartment, may quite well have that quality for him.

I thought from what we got to see in the show...it was the exact opposite in both the scenarios

This episode he clearly was bothered more about the police officer than Leonard leaving in the airport scene.

In the episode where Leonard and Amy went to wedding , he did not start to fixate on trains to get his mind off Amy going out with Leonard , Amy did not want to take him to the wedding because he behaved like a child last time they went ...and Sheldon was clearly happy to play with the trains than going out with Amy. and was clearly happy enough to let Leonard go with her....so he was not those things to keep his mind off of anything....

My guess is that L/P won't get married until the very end of the series, maybe in the last three episodes.

Totally agree about the development.  To keep people coming back week after week, they have to push the boundaries, which is a part of character development.  It's also what makes for excitement, those "can you believe he did THAT?" moments.  Just off the top of my head, this season we had sober Raj talking to women, Penny finally saying ILY to Leonard, Howard confronting his father's abandonment, and Sheldon getting sexual with Amy.  Those are some of the most exciting things that happened all season because they were breakthroughs for their respective characters.

Lucy is GONE.  Thank The Lord!!!

Don't be too sure, just yet. She broke up with him, that doesn't mean she's gone. Both Amy and Bernadette terminated their relationship with Sheldon and Howard, respectively, and they are still around. From published accounts, Kate is well liked by the cast and production crew, and Raj still has feeling for her. Listen carefully to what Raj is saying over the credits. I wouldn't be sure until they find someone for Raj.

My guess would be sooner than that, as there are a lot of people who would want to see the "Smart and beautiful" babies. If they wait until the last three episodes, we'll never see the kids.

...and can you imagine Sheldon's reaction to them, when they do appear? Picture an Uncle Sheldon. Could be hilarious. Or not.

Oh, it would be hilarious. Sheldon is all about schedules and organization. Kids destroy schedules and force parents out of their organization.

I'm sure they would love to have Lucy back but they had to write her out at least for now, because of the pilot that IFC has green-lighted for Kate Micucci called "Garfunkel and Oates".

She maybe unavailable for next season.

In the episode with Leonard/Amy and trains, I think it was pretty clear that Sheldon was unconsciously diverting himself from his subliminal jealousy by fixating (even more than usual) on one of his childish hobbies. This was evidenced by his 'she's not for you' lash-out at Leonard at the end. He did it at the slightest imaginary provocation, so obviously it didn't come out of the blue, those misgivings had been there in his mind all along. We got further evidence of this behavior in Flaming Spittoon, where he started obsessing on the card game and dressing up as a cowboy to distract himself from his jealousy about Amy going out with Stuart (again, this became clear later in the episode).

On the other hand, in this episode (re Sheldon distracting himself from his insecurity about Leonard's going away) we got no such evidence directly in canon. So it's just conjecture based on an earlier observed personality trait. I agree that it may not be the same in this case.

I never got the impression that Sheldon was concerned about Leonard going to the wedding with Amy. Sheldon said 'haha, you have to go to a weeedding!'. It was only the groin comment he reacted too.
