Leonard And Penny Season 7 *spoiler* Discussion Thread

Both words can mean the act or state of being joined. Geeeee, I can't think of anything that would fit in the show at this point in time, can anyone else?

I hope that's sarcasm, haha.

Were you crying or laughing while Sheldon was dealing with failures multiple times in the show??

I was lol, but with Sheldon it was from a physics perspective he had a few failed attempts, but you never felt sorry for him on a real human level because he's a genius. With Penny though you can relate to her character more, because she is probably the most relatable character, she is surrounded by geniuses who are very succesfull in their choosen field, where as she has been acting or trying to act anyway for seven years, something she's susposed to be good at, and has gone no where. tbh even by Season 2 she started to be aware of this in The Barbarian Sublimation that her plans of becoming a huge movie star were not going to plan, she was really isolated then. So I get the feeling people feel sorry for Penny, it must be hard being around such incredibly smart, succesfull people. Penny is one of the main characters in the show, when people say or accuse people of liking Penny failing at her dreams, the root core of the points come from feeling some people beleive Penny's only role in the show is to be the object of Leonards desires and happiness, she has always offered more then that, and I am not saying your doing this I am just offering another perspective.

Can we please, please stop this bickering? I thought a shipper thread was suppose to be about discussion of the ship. This is Lenny. There is no Sheldon here. :girlsigh:

Penny and Leonard are going to be fine. This hiatus in her working life will not be permanent and will lead to new story opportunities. She is not failing, she is just going into a new stage of her life and realizing that her old way of doing things wasn't working and that she has to recalibrate.

And if she can't pay the bills and has to move back to Nebraska there is no show so something will come up. BUT I can't see there is any shame in Leonard helping her through her rough patches because she would do the same for him. However it hasn't come to that. AND whatever way they resolve this it should primarily be funny, not necessarily factual.

OR she leaves Leonard for some tall good looking well off fellow. But what are the odds.

edit. :)

Or some silly guy from south of the equator that brings gifts to those that live north of the equator, although his wife may object.

Hey, Roxanne posted about the Lenny scene in Locomotive Manipulation that everyone was so concerned about. She interpreted it as just their typical banter.

That is good to hear, sometimes the way the actors play it makes the whole scene different than it reads. Johnny and Kaley are really good in scenes together.

Wow, yesterday was a little intense on the forum, I avoided posting anything because of the very strong feelings being expressed.

Yeah Johnny and Kaley have amazing chemistry, I remember an interview with them only recently, they very affectionate with each other haha. Its true what's on script can translate differently onto screen, and thats partly due to Johnny and Kaley's relationship. I think people stress for no good reason, not sure why everyone has to justify who they ship in a show, or these characters are getting more storylines then this relationship, does it really matter end of a day its a comedy and it is a sitcom, they are in the buisness of telling stories, and some times some of those stories are going to be full of drama, but the focus IMO should be the response to the actual comedy not your primary concern being the cannon relationships in the show, because far as I can tell they are all on the right track and well happen naturally.

Yes, I saw it too (*gloats*). They are out of honeymoon mode and acting like a couple that feels comfortable making the odd snark. Unfortunately, to make it funny some of the snark is in public. But that might actually take the sting out of it. I reiterate that they are living in their mis-matched relationship and finding that they have their differences still. This is as it ever was. But nothing about L/P in the TLM struck me as alarming, rather they are being bolder expressing themselves to each other.

(Note. I still haven't seen the proposal episode and the one before (or after) because I was travelling. Maybe they played really badly.)

Again, the difference between seeing the episode and having it described to you. On a side note, are you planning to wear a 'I saw a taping of the big bang theory live.' sign/t-shirt? Or do you just plan to end every post with it? In the same vein as Cato the elder ending every speech with 'Carthage must be destroyed!'? (LOL)

Is it me or did Penny seem more like Kaley in the first few seasons and now she seems like a different person. I was looking at some of the old episodes and Penny also seemed to smile more before and was more perky.

If only they had the t-shirt... but I was thinking about a tattoo. Lucky JEJ and Sheldon didn't get one during the hi jinks in the episode I... :)

its not you. She has a more adult demeanor now. I could say life has beaten her down a bit. She has had something of a hard life, living on the constant edge of hope. :)

that is a great way of putting it. When we saw her in the pilot, even thought she had just left the boyriend who was a problem, she was sweet, perky and just adorable.

I had commented at some point earlier that she just has seemed older but maybe not wiser.

It does seem like life has beaten her down, good observation. Even the episode, last season, where she talked of having a passion seemed a little forced by Penny. I liked her when she got excited about a part on NCIS, it reminded me of old Penny, so I guess I would like her to have some success, now that she left TCF, so we can see that excitement again.

.

If Sheldon had gotten a tattoo he could have compared himself to Popeye and wore his sailor hat more often. Or he would have refused, not wanting to be mistaken for a gang member. Then there's the whole Shamy aspect of Sheldon getting a tattoo... Better not to go there.

They both seemed so innocent when they kissed, before that first real date, when Leonard mentioned Schrodinger's Cat.  Now she does seem beaten down by life.  Some one said before, maybe she could get crazy acting jobs, so both her acting career gives her more satisfaction, plus we can laugh at what she has to do.  I don't think they really need to show her acting, she could come home and tell her friends the crazy things she had to do.  I would like to see her and Loenard more happy together.

I agree that things have been rough to a point and that she does come across as older but not wiser.  It is true that she has lived on the edge of hoping that she will get her "big break".  However, she also does not appear to want to face the realities of life and what she is trying to do.  For one, by her on admission on more than one occasion she never did her job at TCF well.  She seems to have seen it as really beneath her which is a major character problem.  If she cannot do that job well and put a lot of effort into it.  Second, even though she has taken a few class at the community college she has never given any serious thought to what else she would want to do.  From the episode in season 2 when Leonard confronted Kurt over his not paying Penny back for bailing him out of jail, we learned that she went to California with the idea that she would become a movie or tv star in 6-months. That is not realistic for most people.  Third, she does not seem to want to hear the practical statements that Leonard has offered in that what she is trying to is extremely hard and odds of her becoming a "great actress" are very slim.  Last, though I understand her disappointment in having her scene on NCIS cut, she has really scene it in a professional way.  She assume only one thing, that it was cut because "she did a bad job".  She does not know that.  It could of been cut for another reason that had nothing to do with her.  She fails to hear the positives that Leonard has pointed out in that she did get a part on NCIS, even though it was a very small part it was a part.  Thus, there was no reason for her to panic and quit her only means of support and then assume that anyone who does not agree with her fully does not support her.

I say this because I really hope that they will let Penny not just age, but begin mature and become wiser.
