I removed the comment as Ibid deleted it. I'll keep the rest as information for others.

Ibid, I don't know if you are aware, but the ship threads are now for discussing the good things and celebrating the couples and the people in them. If you have something negative to say, that's fine, you just need to put it in the spoiler thread or in Shipping Wars.

Sorry, I did not know this. Is Shipping Wars new? I do like Lenny, I'm just tired of their writing now. I'll see if I can delete my post. Thanks.

Lenny weren't too bad this episode, maybe somewhat cute the way they were acting, they seemed to be just jesting with each other all night, just giving each other looks, but not getting mad at all. The only thing that I didn't like was Leonard having to explain he was kidding in the beginning, it just didn't seem to go with the rest of the episode, and there was a strong inference that Penny drinks too much again. I wonder where the writers are going with that, something serious, or is just a reoccurring quick joke.

I actually his explaining his drinking comment to Penny was caused by being in front of the whole group.

In episode 6.03 Penny tells Alex that her and Leonard: "We’ve kind of been involved in a five-year experiment." So even Penny considers it's been over 6 years now. Their in a extended holding pattern, I just hope the plane isn't starting to run out of gas. IMHO.

I always thought that was a very telling statement on Penny's part. She gets that they've really been bonded for most of the time she's known Leonard.

Funny, that episode is on right now on TBS.

My wife said they sounded like an old married couple, us. And really, they did. We bust on each other all the time in a kidding joking way.

I was trying to come up with a way to explain them and that is what they seem to me too. This was really the second good Valentines episode for Howard and Bernadette, they are the romantic ones. It was Sheldon's and Amy's first serious kiss, they are the ones that are newly in love. Penny and Leonard are the old married couple that don't get too excited about Valentines day and just spend the day together. What is a little sad is that they are too young to be that way.

I agree they are to young for the writers to be treating them as an old married couple.  Most of their milestones have been disasters and I just want something special for my couple that is my OTP.

How many times have we wished for Leonard and Penny to take a trip together or visited their families together.

It may seem that they are too young, but my wife and I were that way when we were dating also. Not only that, but they've been in some sort of relationship with each other, together, apart, dating others, friends, lovers the whole thing for more than six years (I count The Hamburger Postulate as the point where they really started), which brings with it some sort comfort level with each other. The other two couples have been in one continuously for just more than three years, even though Bernie and Howard are married.

You know what I think is missing in Lenny right now is excitement.  There seems to be no excitement with them lately.  The last few Lenny centric episodes were not exciting they were drama that left you sort of on edge.  We need something exciting to happen with them so we can feel some excitement again about our ship.

They also need to address this alcohol thing with Penny or drop it because it is getting less funny each time it is addressed.  Also, I am beginning to cringe everytime Leonard says I'm sorry to her, isn't love meaning you never have to say your sorry, or something like that.

I did however force myself to not worry about the ship too much this episode, so I did enjoy the banter between them, at least most of it.  Neither of them got mad and it was cute how they wanted to get out of the vet's quickly and get Thai food, together.

As much as I don't mind them acting like they're an old married couple, that's not exactly what I really want to see on a TV show - especially a comedy.  I'm grateful that they seem to be in a comfortable place but again it just feels like they have become a bit predictable.  Marriage proposals, drinking problems, insecurities ... and repeat...

It just doesn't feel right..

ETA:  SRAM, I think I just basically said the same thing you did above...

I think that the writers are trying to show how comfortable Lenny are together, and in doing so, as others have stated, it can come off as though they're an old married couple. It's a comfort thing, and it seems as if the writers are showing us this so that they can proceed with other story lines in the future (I hope). Are they "too comfortable," and just content with each other? I don't think so. My bf and I became what friends refer to as the "old married couple" once we rounded our 4 year, simply because of our candid honesty and (sometimes) harsh banter. But it works.

Just watching them tonight go back and forth about the time they took to have sex, the gifts they got each other, and even the wine, shows the writers communicating that Penny and Leonard are at that point in their relationship where they can dish out constructive criticism and know that what they're saying will not cause a break up.

I do think TPTB could add some fresh humor in there though...from what I can tell, I will like their part in the next episode because they are teamed up together in their opinion about the table. Still wishing for something more though; I have been a Lenny fan for years, but as far as this season goes, I have been more excited about Shamy. Looking forward to some postitive Lenny comedy :)

I can barely think of a single sitcom that doesn't make jokes about drinking. How would they address it, planning an intervention and sending her to AA? Only the most naive people would ever think she was anything close to an alcoholic. SRAM, I know you don't have the privilege of being that naive, and neither do I. But I suggest not getting worked up about things.

The love means never saying your sorry is bull. It's rooted in complete selfishness. If Leonard is going to make comments like that he ought to apologize for them. I know from personal experience that when I've wronged someone I love or care about, the first thing I want to do is make amends.

I was quite happy with this episode on a couple of levels. First, Lenny seemed good with each other and comfortable, which many have noted. That reinforces the notion that their now six year experiment is working out. As to them not doing anything for Valentines, Penny doesn't like it, and theirs is a relationship of small gestures. The box from earlier in the season is the key relationship point. Big things for them don't work out.

I do love the Shamy kiss. I suspected that when they actually had a SIK, Sheldon might find the experience disturbing to his homeostasis. This could actually be the way to break the jam for Lenny. I wonder how far the writers plan to run with this. If Sheldon figures out what a girlfriend is really for, he may end out in Amy's apartment. Not too likely, but not impossible.

You're right and I'm not really worked up, I promised myself to not do that tonight and enjoy the episode, which I did. I just think they are pushing the alcohol thing too much and it doesn't seem that funny.

That's also been my feeling for some time, at least since the middle of season 6. The story lines and dialog that they give to Leonard and Penny now is for long standing couples.

As per the norm, the episode wasn't nearly as bad as the freaking out after the taping report.  I felt pretty at ease when Roxanne reported back after seeing the episode at the next taping that it was just their normal banter.

All is well at 2311 N. Los Robles Avenue, Pasadena, California, Apartments 4A & 4B! :)

Well that was lame and boring and dull and repetitive....

I just wish they stop showing Penny drinking so much...... and apart from that what  she seems to be getting is acting sarcastic most the the time....

And clearly by the way their characters are being written they are no longer the "main" couple of the show....(if they ever were in the past few seasons)

free half eaten box of chocolates....well Penny do you remember once your gifts used to be sweet or thoughtful or funny......birthday party kisses , blanket with sleeves , book on how to ride a motorcycle....

That is interesting, do you see a shift from Lenny being the main couple to Shamy? If that does happen then Mayim really got screwed on her last contract with TPTB. It would be a way to replace Leonard, by substituting Amy and it could allow Lenny to tie the knot. However they would fall more into the background, but not as far as Howard and Bernadette, since they would probably stay across the hall.

Maybe for you.

Except for her drinking after her part got cut, can you point to anytime she was shown drinking more than anyone else in the episode? And I remember well how much drunker Penny was than Sheldon in the "The Thanksgiving Decoupling"

and apart from that what  she seems to be getting is acting sarcastic most the the time….

It's not just her, it's both of them busting on each other jokingly. I do it with my wife, what's the problem?

Yeah, because out of the last four episodes they had the main storyline twice and Sheldon and Amy once. With the guys and girls separate in the other. Go to wikipedia, look up TBBT season 7 episodes and explain who is the main couple. And season six except for a handful of episodes was nothing but about Penny and Leonard. So I don't know where you got this idea from.

Yeah, because she has so much more money now to spend on those types of gifts…Oh, and it wasn't a book, it was motorcycle lessons.

If you dislike Penny so much, why even bother posting in a thread that is supposed to celebrate the couple? Why not complain about her in the Show section of the forum where others complain about things?
