I keep thinking that the writers are giving us hints that Penny and Leonard aren't going to last much longer.....Hello Priya.

What's your freaking problem with Priya?! Any of your posts are about Leonard and Priya or Leonard and Penny breaking up. If you are that crazy, okay... but please don't try to ruin it for everyone with your nonsense.

There's absolutely NOTHING wrong with Leonard and Penny right now! They don't have to touch each other all the time, there are no 'hints' for a breakup, there's just nothing!

You need to let go of your obsession with Priya. She was massively unpopular and unfunny, the writers knew to write her off as quick as humanly possible. They were miserable together, far more disengaged than you think Leonard and Penny are, who are the happiest of the couples on the show.

Yeah, and a drunken parasitic Penny constantly getting wasted, mooching off of people, and taking advantage of her friends is just so darn funny.  As I said, there have been signs by the writers the last 3 or 4 episodes that indicate that things aren't all that rosy between Leonard and Penny.  Have a problem with Priya?  Okay then, "Hello Alex"!

 

The ratings of the at this point IMO are because of Shamy more than Lenny. I don't totally buy her being that upset. what did she actually do about it?After Priya and Leonard broke up she did nothing. if she had really wanted him back she should of asked him out. She certainly is not shy. Instead she waited for Leonard to ask. That's why some of us think she should propose. it's time for her to step up to the plate. Bail or break up she ended the relationship. Buying a car writing a check for rent either way she's still dependent on Leonard. I don't like that either.

If Penny moved in with Leonard and Sheldon, that is what you would pretty much have, except for gender reversal and that the woman is really having a relationship with one of the guys.  The situations they could get into would be similar though.

I'm not sure the situations would be the same. The basis of a lot of the humor were the situations where Jack's heterosexuality had to be hidden from their landlord, otherwise they would kick him out. Something that doesn't apply for TBBT. I find that the idea that the landlord would accept Jack as being gay, while not accepting a guy living in a separate bedroom, and treating the other areas as common, to be interesting, considering the recent attempts at legislation here in the US.

Oh yay, another clown who thinks Penny's an alcoholic.

 

It's funny you have such an issue with Penny, yet propose Alex as a viable alternative. A willing cheater who eagerly pursued a man in an established relationship.

I do not know where anyone gets the idea that there are problems with Leonard and Penny.  I see the relationship moving forward but I do not see any major problems.  If anything, I see the show moving in a direction to prepare the audience for some changes, like Leonard and Penny moving in together.  In this latest episode, L/P came across as very domestic especially when buying the table.  Penny seemed very domestic because if you watch her facial expressions, she is the one that chose that table like she was getting it for the two of them.  If there is any growing discontent it is with Leonard and Sheldon.  More and more Leonard is being portrayed as growing tired of Sheldon.  In this latest episode this was highlighted with Lenny's discussion with Penny while shopping for the table. 

 

As for Penny being an alcoholic, I do not think that she is an alcoholic.  I do think that they do show her drinking a lot at times and it seems to be what she turns to when she stressed or having problem.  However, I do not see that she is an alcoholic yet.

 

Last, I do not see this constant desire for some to bring back a minor character like Alex who, IMO, only purpose in the show is over and really no longer fits in the story.

I think they are rock solid too. Id like to see them having more fun but I suppose Penny is not feeling so lighthearted right now, as she is under a great deal of pressure. Id hazard a guess, on reflection, that is why she cant muster the energy to battle the petty giant baby. She has bigger problems. Go Leonard and Penny.

I guess sometimes I cannot help getting this little itty bitty nagging feeling that things could go wrong.  Not pessimistic, just realistic that stuff happens.  But I do think that they are in a nice place right now.

I was a little concerned during the first half of the season, most (not all) of the episodes had them acting in a way not representative of how they should be acting at that point in their relationship.  I was really disappointed they wasted the North Sea trip, except for the last season final episode, I didn't understand why they even sent him away.  The episodes this year (2014) have showed them strong though, Penny didn't overreact to Leonard when she changed her job situation, even though he was really out of his element in his responses.  The last episode was good and the episode before, except for banter that got a little too critical, wasn't bad either, so I don't see them in trouble right now.  I guess I don't like how they have become the old married couple, they should be having more fun together and I can't understand  the writers not exploiting the potential humor in them doing boyfriend/girlfriend things together, sort of like the table shopping.  They could have really made the table shopping thing funny, if Penny did one of her sex in public places things with Leonard, like she did with Mike.  Anyway next episode sounds that it could be really good, so it seems the writers are making them stronger now from the beginning of the season, I just wonder why they put them in that place in the first place.

The magic formula that Steve Molaro is using so successfully will keep the couples together and happy for the long term. When Molaro took over as the show runner at the end of season 5, he said that he would use short story arcs and this seemed to translated to having conflicts in the relationships that are resolved within an episode or two. At the start of this season Molaro said the emphasize would be on fun within the episode plots that dealt with the gang's jobs and hobbies.

 

The end result is that long range relationship issues are a losing proposition now. The ratings have sky rocketed with Molaro's approach, up over three million since season 5. He keeps the customers happy (and protecting future syndication episodes) by having stable relationships that are ever building from one milestone to another (Lenny I love you, Shamy kiss) and keeps the tension in the viewers by slowing down, or stopping the rate of change. All those people out there following the relationships should not fear a break-up since that would reset all that prep work to zero and piss off a huge segment of the fan base. Instead they can keep them panting for the next 'ship milestone.

 

It has been freaking brilliant.

Bernadette and Leonard are going to "test" the medication to see if it really works. Bernadette then divorces Howard. But then before that happens the actress that plays Alex is going to come back (after she leaves NCIS since no one has ever heard of the show anyways) and steals Leonard from Penny.

Stop trying to make Alex happen, it's not going to happen! If they wanted her they would have kept her on, but I can safely assure you she's a distant memory to everyone except you. Probably ran off to find some other involved guy to cheat with.
