rickfromillinois
To a group of people well over the age of 21? Big deal. Raj would still be whispering into Howard's ear in order to communicate. The others made the decision to drink on their own free will, way too old to claim peer pressure. I sure as hell don't hang out with people who engage in casual sex (thanks for the assumption), but Penny does. Howard had more stories than Penny ever will, Raj had a few (Sailor Moon anyone?) and Leonard has had Leslie, Joyce, Priya (initially, Stephanie arguably began the same way), almost Alice, you get the point. They formed into relationships, but began with casual sex. I get that you hold them to a different standard because they're guys, but she's really no worse than them in that regard. Let's be honest, Penny has had more casual encounters then any of the guys, don't forget that little formula that Sheldon came up with. While we are being honest though, let's ask ourselves why? Is it because the guys are more moral or Penny less so? NO. It's because Penny COULD. If Penny had wanted to, she could bring home a different guy every night. She's beautiful, while although at least Raj and Howard would have gladly slept with a different women every night, they just couldn't find that many women interested in participating. I think that if you judge by how many times Penny could have but didn't, and how many times some of the guys wanted to but couldn't, Penny comes out ahead. SRAM
Yeah, if it wasn't a low budget film (I would assume something like Serial Apeist, I would assume a low budget), she would get $859 for a days work (almost as much as a week's work for low budget), or about 3000 for a week. Since she says she was getting more money at TCF, the low budget rate appears to be in effect for that film. It would be sort of funny and nice if she was just making enough money to keep living by herself doing stuff like this and maybe commericals. I think it would be interesting too if she started taking a few extras jobs just to keep her cash flow coming in. She would probably complain about not getting anywhere, but Leonard could remind her that she was supporting herself acting, when last year she was an waitress, wishing she was an actress. The formula has been disproved more than once (it didn't acknowledge the four years she was with Kurt), not that it was ever worth putting stock into. It was coming from a guy who thinks his relationship with Amy is progressing at a rapid pace and finds the idea of sex "ridiculous and offputing". Howard also mentioned paying girls to sleep with him, so I'm sure his number is higher than hers.
Nogravitasatall
Wheeeeee!!!!!! Back on the merry-go-round. I'd be more worried about her transition to companion and help mate, because do far as i can see her wilding days are over. She is well past the incubation period for anything serious to express itself. Now we have to worry about how fruitfully she can follow her dream... or is she doomed by the odds. And how much of this we will see, because of the change in focus we see. (yes I'm greedy for L/P to have the spotlight again - faint hope though it be)

3ku11
Theirs your finalie Penny gets a pregnency scare in tge finalie haha. While i agree Pennys encounters are more vast then the guys, their are alot more variables with Penny, she clearly has alot more social intillgence then the guys. Seeing she lived with Kurt for four years, clearly she had encountets because she could not because shes a drunk slut haha, she is no where near Charlie Harper status lol. Her dating life in terms of activity is average by anyones standard imo. Sheldons formula doesent take into account all the variables, have they been dating long etc. What does sheldon kno hes so socially awkward just ask Amy haha. Also take into account Sheldon's numbers on how many guys he saw leaving her apartment in the morning and her statement that her, Amy, and Bernadette would have to drive pretty far to find a bar where someone hasn't seen her naked. So what? I maintain that she is still as moral, if not more so, then some of the guys. At least in Raj's and Howard's case they would have slept with a different woman every night if given a chance. Penny could have if she wanted, but didn't. What's more important is what is Penny like now. Does anyone think that Penny would cheat on Leonard? I don't. SRAM
I like tonight when Stuart was telling Lenny how great they were together and Penny was just smiling and then telling him how sweet what he said was, there was no worried or relunctant Penny being shown. Also, I found it funny that they were posturing about who's job was more important and who would move for who, later when they are married, like it was a sure thing. Lenny seemed pretty stable tonight. Leonard did look better tonight, maybe it was that he got rid of the hoodie.

rickfromillinois
The only thing that I found disturbing about the episode, and it was minor, was that Leonard was starting to argue with Penny about moving to another city if they got married, when he was willing to move to India to be with Priya at one point. During my 20 years in the U.S. Army my wife moved with me to different places around the world. Once I retired, she went back to school and got her BS degree in computer science, and now I go where her job takes her. Couples often have to do things like that, and I don't think that either of us ever thought it was a big problem. Fortunately Stewart's speech but an end to that little point of discordance. It seems to me that both Leonard and Penny believe that someday they will be married, and happily so.

I sort of got the feeling they were pulling each others chain, instead of really being totally serious. I'll probably look at it closer when I rewatch the episode. I just thought is was cute they thought they would have to make some kind of decision like that in the future when they were married, and Penny didn't flinch when Stuart said they were perfect together. They were acting very married in this episode too.

They were acting very married in this episode too. Stuart was right that Leonard helps Penny think more about the world. In this case they obviously hadn't had "the talk" about their future, because that is part of the proposal problem, and hence unmentionable. They have self-censored on this topic, so until they get past it they are not going to be totally synchronised. I note she said no to three kids, not no to kids at all. That means she agrees to the idea of kids. I cant remember (embarrassingly) if Penny has heard Leonards mission statement about the smart and beautiful babies. And Leonard has had a wardrobe change that looks good. I'm looking forward to seeing Penny and him at each others work mixers at some time over the next three years. It would be nice if they leave together for London at the end of the season as a consequence of the north sea trip. Leonard gets an offer to speak at some Oxbridge thing and they take the train to Paris as a side trip, with or without proposal.

After all, he prevented them from getting together the first time when he fed her fears that she wasn't smart enough for Leonard. Hell, they would probably be married already, if it wasn't for Sheldon.

Did the TGB ever drop that one? Its got to come out sometime. I reread the thread and couldn't pick up on what Penny doesn't know. Could you remind me? The way they are writing Lenny now is as if the successful proposal is a foregone conclusion. It would actually be a plot twist if it was, in some ways, as they often misdirect us. Having said that, it is clear that the current diection of the show is highly successful with Leonard and Penny solidly together, so any bumps in the road should be minor. I suspect that Leonard's willingness to move to India for priya stemmed from several things. First, tenure wasn't on the horizon yet. So he could afford to be more mobile, and India could be a decent career option. Now, he'd be crazy to move, except to a tenure offer from another school. He's the best candidate now, with the Hawking collaboration, and Sheldon's snafu with the new stable superheavy element. Leonard's science was right, and Sheldon's math was wrong for a stupid mistake. This is the second time he's embarassed himself scientifically. Tenure is not in the picture for him at this time. Second, Leonard might have been interested in getting away from Penny. Clearly he's always preferred her, and as he couldn't have her, getting away would be a good thing to do. Furthermore, the moving business for Penny is actually moot. As a small time actress, she needs to be in LA, or New York. As a highly successful actress, it wouldn't matter. If she's doing TV, LA. If movies, it is on location anyway, so she just needs to be where the majority of casting takes place, i.e. LA. Once she's established, it doesn't matter where she lives. Julia Roberts lives in Taos NM, last I heard, and its not hurting her career. The top actors live wherever they damn well want. Penny could easily be tethered to Leonard's job, and it wouldn't make much difference.
