Yes, they apparently never used that as a comedic device to drive her off. If "I love you" triggered a melt down in bed imagine what a 23

yo Penny would have done if she thought the weird boy across the hall already planned to have impregnate her (its just a matter of emphasis LOL). Either oversight or a kindness from the creatives meant they didn't use this as a nucular (sic) option. It might be a post script now.

She probably doesn't have a problem with that, as long as it is only two.

Did she say "two"??? The writers were pretty vague  as to what she meant---just that she wasn't putting "this body" through   it three times...one, two or none????

That's because it meant to be taken as a joke, not be indicative of any future plans that may or may not involve children. But these two are the only couple on the show that I would deem capable of raising children in a stable and loving environment.

Well, any line that is designed to get a laugh can be a throwaway line. In general, if the line is different in tone, from the rest of the lines around it, and it is generally different, in tone, from other parts of the whole "book", then it's probably a throwaway line. There to get a laugh. It's quite obvious when you are doing scene study for a show.

In my current play, there is a line where one woman says, "...it's important to remember how much I like calamari." To which the other woman replies sarcastically, "whether or not you like cheese doesn't matter here." It's obvious that they both know what calamari is, and the one is trying to put her down, by implying the other doesn't know what calamari is.

Similar to Penny saying how wonderful, smart, sweet, Leonard is, and then says , and in the bedroom he really tries. When there is all sorts of other evidence that Penny (and all of his other lovers) have said good things about their experiences in bed with him. That line there was only to get the laugh.

Yeah it is hard to believe that Leonard is a dud in bed, when Sheldon keeps complaining about all the noise they make and Penny screaming "Oh My God" over and over. He had to buy noise canceling headphones and he still hears them sometimes when they are over at her apartment. He has complained about them many times during the show, hell they even broke the bed. So it sounds like they have a very healthy and wild sex life, so an comment, every so often, about Leonard's lack of sexual prowess, for a laugh, is definitely a 'throw away line'.

Now that Leonard and Penny are being written as if they are married, they go for the blah sex joke apparently not fearing that it would damage their relationship. Leonard even joked about his sexual performances just before giving Penny the car. and Penny just looked at him as if she thought the joke was annoying. If they were really having problems in the bedroom a couple would not be joking about it. They have Howard make the same kind of gags to Bernadette.

Being that this is a Chuck Lorre production, those jokes come with the territory.

Leonard got a red jacket. This is a deliberate move to bring the character to the fore in the mind of the audience, even if they are not giving him a lot more to do. His low impact earth tones were relegating him to the background. The punchy coat puts him in company with Detective Beckett and Deputy Chief Brenda Leigh Johnson, amongst others, who got coloured up to stand out from the mob.

Interesting observation. With Penny's job situation and Leonard's support of it, plus this information, maybe we are seeing some clues that something big is going to happen to Lenny soon.

Ever since we heard about Raj hosting Dinner Party Murder Mysteries, I was hoping we'd be treated to one. So very glad we got to see one in this past episode! Loved when all the 'murder suspects' were sitting glumly in the 'time machine'. The special effects (strobe light and swooshing sounds) made me laugh! And Leonard looked sensational sans hoodie! I hope TPTB continue with this look.

Sadly there is much in this... I can laugh at Sheldon, but I don't care about him at all. It's getting late for a change, despite the small things recently tossed to Leonard and Penny. Obviously I'm out of step with the mass market. But I'll hang on for more of what they dish out just to see what happens. My lingering impression is that its all about Sheldon, true or not. And i don't like him. Would not want to have a beer with him.

Maybe it will turn around...

Been awhile since we have seen activity on this thread. We do have a taping tonight. Any thoughts as to what may be in store for Dr. Hofstadter and his lady???

Since we know in the Proton episode, that they are still in the same place, just talking about bad proposal, we can guess nothing happens to Lenny till after they show that episode, but then there is not much of the season left.  I think this season is just a Lenny stalling season.

You know it was now been over a year since Leonard gave the proposal power to Penny, and she hasn't done any better than Leonard.  How long do the writers expect him to wait till it starts getting old between them to the fans?

IMO the proposal for Lenny is already getting old.  I agree that this year has been more of a Lenny stalling season.  The relationship is to the point that it is time to move to the next level and IMO that means engagement.  I think the audience is ready for some real movement n the relationship and not more dreamed up excuses for rejected proposals, and unexplained commitment issues.

The show could have Lenny become engaged without changing the living arrangements and they could have the engagement last a year or more.  Of course the writers can do what they want, but IMO the failed proposals are getting old.
