JonRS92
I take some issue with the claim of Penny being "bored" in the relationship. She says it is a different kind of love than she is used to. "A new, better, boring kind of love." I take this to mean a more mature type of love. Not "have mad, monkey sex every night and knock-down, drag out fights in between kind of love." A more supportive, adult relationship; just being comfortable together. Just my humble interpretation of the scene. Agreed. I have said that I believe she misinterpreted her relationship when she spoke of it. Sorry if I was unclear. I think she maybe thought she was bored but was misinterpreting her feelings. But you are spot on with your assessment of it and I just wish someone had been cognizant of it at the time she said it to set Penny straight. Maybe Amy would not have the experience to understand, but I would have thought that Bernie would have.
Nogravitasatall
What is "the circle of trust"?In my mind... They are or will be a pair. Or nucleus. Orbiting outside that nucleus are say kids, then kin, and some friends that move in or out, depending. But that inner nucleus stays tight. Kin does not come between. Unless something disruptive happens. Splitting the nucleus is destructive. Layer on that the power games that Penny and Leonard were playing... where Penny tilts the board or does what Kirk did in Kobayashi Maru scenario brings in an external force to split the pairing. And she had the documentation on how Leonard had suffered. Horrible. Just one way of picturing it. Robert De Niro had the circle of trust line in "Meet The Parents". Oh, please, it's not like Leonard was abused at home. No one called child protective services about it. All that happens is that he gets outed for the game he was playing. His mother isn't going to destroy him. In many ways it's not much different than when Penny called Sheldon's mother in Panty Pinata. He was hoisted by his own petard, I think, but Penny didn't betray him.Exactly like Sheldon. Who is not her lover and probable future husband. Helps my point. ArmyGirl
Exactly like Sheldon. Who is not her lover and probable future husband. Helps my point. Yep, there is a big difference in Penny's relationship with Leonard than what she has with Sheldon. It's apples and oranges being compared imo. Nogravitasatall
The opposite of "the square of suspicion" ? I do apologise for being so profoundly immature. But I swear it was funny in my head. Don't worry, it goes with the Leonard/Penny/Sheldon "triangle of implausibility". We can build a Euclidean set. Tensor
Ya know, it occurs to me that this season for Penny and Leonard could be very much like season five for Howard and Bernadette. It was almost a "issue of the week" for them. Whether it was kids, his mother, Howard becoming and astronaut, living arrangements, etc. They were always working through something. Season six "fixed" Penny, this season maybe they'll get "Lenny's" problems straightened out (although I thought they would fix Sheldon and Amy). Maybe they can fit it both in. phantagrae
Yep, there is a big difference in Penny's relationship with Leonard than what she has with Sheldon. It's apples and oranges being compared imo. But again, Beverly is Leonard's mother, and the author of the book, etc. She's not the devil incarnate. It's not like she's going to kill him over it. And if Leonard's behavior is as bad as some of you keep insisting, then why not let his mother scold him over it? You could kind of draw a parallel with Penny and her lies to her father about her relationship with Leonard. In the end she confessed, but she still got scolded by her father for her deception. And in the end, it's still not a drama.

I am sure this has been said but the more I think about all of this the more I am convinced it is much ado about nothing. I thought this yesterday when I read the taping report and I am even more convinced today. That last line of Leonard's or Penny's when Penny storms off and his mother is there on screen has the ring of one-liner, cue audience laughter to it. Besides, the last scene described doesn't sound as if anything really earthshaking has happened. In addition, I have been re-watching season 6 and you have Amy manipulating Sheldon and they actually played that as humorous. That is how this is going to play out. Nogravitasatall
I'm over it too. It will be horrifyingly funny of course. Onwards. Lets talk about slutty Leonard again.

Nogravitasatall
Absolutely. She also is a woman. Why has no one addressed that issue. And Howard's tight pants. Immodest. I have to fan myself each time I see him. They should do something about that too.

3ku11
Hey I'm jealous. Quick question, has Penny ever cried to Leonard. She cried in the ILY scene and when they broke up in the bowling scene, oh and when Penny broke up with that guy in the S1 finalie, ok techniquley her crying was not directly about Leonard, but the question was has Penny every cried to Leonard not about
Occam's Chainsaw
Also in "Middle Earth", and I think in "Bath Item", she might haves also been crying in the Pilot when she started talking about Kurt the first time.

Tensor
So Penny has cried a total number of 6 times in front of Leonard, Leonard a total of 100 times lol.Actually, I can't think of a time that Leonard cried IN FRONT of Penny, unless you count getting choked up when she said I love you. Even when she ran off at the bowling alley, he did not cry with Penny present(although Sheldon lets the cat out of the bag to Penny that he had been crying). He's been extremely upset and sad, but didn't cry.
