And like, she actually thought oh I'll buy some rose petals light some candles have this music ready etc. "I finally found something to show you how much I love you." And a cheeky little surprise... one (of many, apparently!) pregnancy tests. Oo err. This episode was so perfect and adorable. And no I haven't re-watched this scene like ten times already. However, I have been noticing something this season and what I have noticed is between Penny & Leonard. Therefore, that is why I have put it in this thread. It may be just my interpretation but their kisses are not nearly as passionate as the secne requires. It's like a brother and sister kissing. Even when she showed the box of all the romantic gifts Leonard gave her through the years. The two just didn't match. I don't know if it's because they keep having their SO at the tapings or something else but from my point a view they are not portraying the proper feeling for the moment. This isn't the first time it's happened this season. I hope it's just my imagination because they are both wonderful actors and I wouldn't want to think that they are holding back because their SO are wTching. Hopefully I'm seeing something that isn't there but I have noticed it through the last few episodes. Just an observation I'm throwing out there. I think she is holding back on her kisses recently too. Her hugs have been very real and very passionate but some of the kisses, the ones that are suppose to be more passionate do seem a little held back. I hope the SO's are not the cause. I think they have been more intimate then passionate because of their relationship maturing, it's more refined now. Also the fact Leonard was gone for 3 months, not that Johnny was gone for that same amount of time haha, but just saying. Like I said Lenny in Season 3 were fine passion wise, and they were dating other people then, I don't think it has anything to do with their SO's why would it? They have been friend's for years, and they know it's just part of being an actor, their SO's are just going to have to suck it up lol if that's the case. I just think they are not kid's, they are still young but I think the writing of their relationship is changing, it's more an adult type relationship, so their's more intimacy between their kisses now, most of their scenes so far this season haven't been making out like they were first dating, but more depth, so it's more intimate, I guess the writer's feel they don't have to be eating each other's face's lol to proove passion it's gone past that now. Even if in real life that would have been a passionate kiss, showing a calmer, more intimate kiss and hug is more effective because it shows romance and love - if it was more, then we'd just see it as that and not the meaning behind it. Plus, people complain about 'it's all about the sex' and 'we don't get cute moments between Leonard and Penny' and 'why do they even love each other', etc so... here it is. It also reframes the original breakup and Leonard's war gaming in "The Recombination Hypothesis". She never really wanted it to end, even back then. The question is will the audience notice the deference in intamacy and will they care in the long run? After all how many of us really have watched and cared about their relationship to that degree? Well just watched the episode and haven't noticed the lack of kissing that you have noticed, I know they're young but it's the relationship tht's maturing not LEonard and Penny, when Penny kissed Leonard it felt as passionate as ever, just more re assured and intimate JMO. When it was more intense, the relationship in the show was actually not very good. That's why the season 3 breakup, painful as it was, actually was needed. Regarding real life for Johnny and Kaley, they may be holding back a little as the stuff they are being asked to do is very romantic and intimate. Given that they did have a relationship early in the show, the personal chemistry is there. They might be finding it hard not to get personally involved again. The kissing is the only thing that they are holding back though, as all other aspects of the acting are all in. Could Penny have been more open to Leonard tonight? Only kept the FIRST pregnancy test, wonder how many there have been. Hmmm... well. So, super-smart Leonard and sex-savvy Penny and apparently they are not a big proponent of "protection"? Penny makes it clear there have been multiple pregnancy tests while with Leonard. And this with a guy that, throughout their relationship, she wasn't sure if she was really committed to him. I said this earlier but one of the problems with the scene is it seemed rush almost hurried. Looking back a second time as much as I liked the Howard and the gang at the hospital IMO the song went a little too long. I was surprised by the lack of reaction regarding the need for even one pregnancy test by Leonard, much less that there were more than one. Regarding real life, I wonder if the reason Kaley is getting married is that she is pregnant. That will make for a wild story line later this season. Even though it was brief, I think that Leonard's facial expression said a 1,000 words. I didn't need more of a reaction. It was clear to me that Leonard had been unaware of any potential issues or problems, and that the idea he may have been a father (more than once!) nearly knocked him off his feet. He just asked "is that a pregnancy test" and she gave him an answer, clearly he didn't know she'd taken them. So perhaps this idea is more in Penny's head than it is in Leonard's. He didn't go on to ask "so lets talk about babies" because he probably knows that kind of conversation would probably be too much for her. But she was fine with telling him and admitting she's taken more than one, that's a fact and she probably freaked out about it before but she's okay with it at the moment. Maybe it's hinting at something for the future. Or it could be showing that this idea of commitment to Leonard with more roles than just 'girlfriend' is gradually becoming less of an issue for her and something she's willing to start considering in some way. Leonard on the other hand just looked like whoa wait hold up pregnancy test whut babies whut. Actually he looked more freaked out by the idea of it than Penny did. As for the 'real life' issue I'm pretty sure she said in an interview on like ET or something I can't remember that they weren't actually going to start wedding plans till next year. And pregnancy can be hidden. Quite a lot of people didn't know Jessica Capshaw was preggers for a good part of S8 Grey's Anatomy. It's all about the placement! But yeah. There are ways around those kinds of things if the show itself isn't ready for that move or it's not something they need in the story line. It's just so adorable that Penny tried her best and put so much effort into this. And that her romantic things come straight from her heart.
