BBTfan Posted June 4, 2013 Posted June 4, 2013 I have been waiting 3 YEARS for this day to come. The Red Wedding episode. Having read the books (started way back when book 2 came out), and having enjoyed the backlash and outrage at Ned's beheading (and Drogo's death, oh how the ladies hated that!) I just couldn't wait for the Red Wedding. And finally, it has come to pass.... 5:35 was pretty much how I was when I read it. The twitter feed! https://twitter.com/redweddingtears 20 Angriest responses: http://mashable.com/2013/06/03/red-wedding-game-of-thrones/ Welcome to the club, bitches! lol I read that scene some 15 odd years ago and just had to put the book down and go "Day-um." Berliner Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 I didn't read the books, so I was quite shocked. One of the best episodes so far.

BBTfan Posted June 14, 2013 Posted June 14, 2013 So everybody's favourite characters die? -Smart... Actually it is. It's called tension and these books have it. How many damn pages are in the WoT series and how many main characters die? Every time Rand, Matt or that third dude got in trouble (or pretty much any of the main/submain characters) I wasn't worried at all. No chance of death. With Martin, every time a character you give a crap about gets in trouble, you're #(*$ing praying that character doesn't die. Your prayers aren't always answered. If your particular fav character dies and you quit the series because of it, ah well! The series isn't about any one character (well, it MIGHT be but we won't find out till the end), it's about a Song of Fire and Ice. The flaw isn't in the story, it's in the reader. I think the killing of main characters in bloothbath had something to do with shakespeare. I think there is a literary expression for it too, but cannot recall it now. But yes, in most books main characters never die, which can get a bit boring as you know they will soldier on indefinitely.
BBTfan Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 Even better? He makes some of the characters you start off hating, likable. Awesome series (well, for the first 3 books at least).
Sherminator Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 A lot of crime series use the bloodbath method. By killing important members of crime families at the end of season, they keep the wiewers getting back.
BBTfan Posted June 21, 2013 Posted June 21, 2013 You do realize this is a book series, right? The script is already written? Or are you just making random observations.

Sherminator Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 Just got the season one bluray box! -brilliant pic quality, and good commentaries. on the negative side, the documentaries are very shallow, with people just commending each other. That70sGirl Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 Actually, at Comic-Con this year George R R Martin himself said just because he wrote it one way in the books, doesn't mean it will be that way on the show. I'm okay with this since he's the original author of the series. Makes it a little exciting. Almost like a choose your own adventure. I do have a question for those who have read the books. People who attended the panel got one book in our swag bag. How many books are there? Is it like one book per season? Or... ? How do you follow along with the series? People who attended the panel got one book in our swag bag. How many books are there? Is it like one book per season? Or... ? How do you follow along with the series? At the moment, there are either 5 or 7 books depending how you look at it. Allow me to explain. Books 3 and 5 are split into 2 parts so the 5 books become 7actual books. They are split because otherwise book 3 would be something like 1600 pages long. The 2 parts of book 3 happen with numerous characters simultaneously. So part 1 deals with lets say The Starks and part 2 deals with the Lannisters and Daenerys but as far as the timeline goes, it's all happening at the same time. The TV series kind of sticks to the books chronology but not totally. For example, book 3 part 2 has the death of a major character that hasn't been shown in the 3rd series of the show. George R R Martin's plan was for it to have 9 books in total (with I think book 9 split into 2 parts too). I read somewhere that he's told the guys who are writing/adapting the TV series his planned ending should he die before he gets round to writing it himself. I've just read this back and I think it makes sense!
DrWackaDoodle Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 I only got into GoT because of the references to it on TBBT but what an awesome show. That being said, the premiere felt rather lackluster. Of course they had a lot to cover and set up in an hour. I'd give it a 3.5 out of 5. How creepy are those rocks that were on Tywin Lannister's eyes? Nienna_Noone Posted May 14, 2015 Posted May 14, 2015 I have watch the four seasons and i'm waiting to see the next one. When i watched the first episode of the first season, i stopped after ten minutes. Too much dead people ! And the i started it again and i fell in love with the show. It's brilliant, the cast is great and you never know what's going to happened (when, like me, you haven't read the books). Now i'm starting to read the books to see the differences. Personnally my favorite family is the Stark, especially Arya but i like Tyrion Lannister's character. I've just finished to read the second book I usually prefer to read books after having seen the tv or movie adaptation so i can imagine the missing parts of the books ^^
