I did not find the episode to be very good.  I have not found anything funny in it and I have do not like the idea of Leonard showing that video to the others the ship.  I like Leonard most of the time, but their are times when he made out to be a jerk or just a total idiot.  He has been a jerk to Penny before in season 3 in the Physic Vortex.  I thought that he was a real arrogant _____ in that episode.  When he wrote her paper for her last year he was being stupid IMO.  I do not want to see them ruin the L/P relationship but I would not blame her if she dumbed him for showing the video.  She dumbed Mike in the season 1 finale for writing about their sex life in his blog.  Also, If I were Penny's father and found out about this Leonard may no longer be a "keeper". 

 

As for the rest of what I read, I did not find it to be very good at all.  The whole story is very bad in my opinion.  The writers really messed this one up especially for a season primere and after the finale from last year.

 

All I have to say is thanks writers you just add another anti-Leonard.  This is what I complaint about over and over about the writing love making Leonard the whipping boy.

 

I guess more and more will be wanting Penny to dump Leonard and turn her attention to perfect Sheldon.

Penny initiated the hug. Sheldon responded by trying to shake her hand, but she hugged him anyway. He seemed to warm up to the hug though. The touching moment for me was when he told her that she hurt his feelings.

 

Bernadette made the comment and then realized she made a mistake and apologized. It never went too far. Amy had a hard time forgiving her though...

 

I didn't find the end scene offensive and really didn't think of it that way. It was the very short clip they show at the end of an episode. I didn't think much of it. Leonard was very different in this episode though...Carefree and loving the North Sea!

 

I thought the episode was good, but missed the connection the entire cast has when they are all together.

The thing is Penny and Wyatt will probably never find out what Leonard did and and Leonard won't find out that Penny is telling all her secrets to Sheldon, instead of him, only we will know how bad things are.  Remember Penny never found out how Leonard got her money back from Kurt, even though it was a very brave moment for him to do that for her.  I just hope they cut the last scene, they have done that before.

Stupid like the Buffy early wake up, stupid like the photo Mollie mentioned. We have to find out his motives. THEN the lynching. Or not.

I do think they are making characters come up rather OOC though. Sheldon hugging, Leonard acting like a jock, Bernadette encouraging Amy to cheat.

 

I do like that Penny was shown missing Leonard. I don't think the hug is that big of a deal per se, if it weren't for the fact that, like I said, it speaks of terrible continuity and I don't see the point in getting S/P closer since, like you say, Leonard is back next episode and it will probably all be swept under the carpet.

 

I really like how they handled Amy from the sound of things. I was worried they'd have her want to hit on guys and Bernadette trying to stop her but I'm really glad she stood up for Sheldon. And I did find the whole phone conversation very intriguing. Don't bring HOME any BED bugs? Mmmm. Not suggesting anything in particular, but I found that intriguing. 

 

I think people should not take the A/B describing each other's man seriously. It was meant to be a joke because they were insulting each other's men before.

I am not necessarily upset about the ending part (tag?), but it will depend on how it goes.  It could be 1. he was showing them a part where you cannot see her breasts just to brag about how she is his girlfriend, or 2. he was watching it alone and people showed up, 3. the writers do not realize how this looks, or 4. they know but do not care.  I hope it is one or two or even three over four.  And since they are apparently back and happy next week, this will not become of anything.  It is even possible that Penny had told Leonard about it, even if she didn't know he had seen it, and it was just a 'big secret' for Sheldon.  This does not sound like an episode I will be looking to catch again in reruns, but I will have to see it before I can really decide how it comes across to me.  And it will come across different for everyone.

Ok so I've been reading this so... don't hate on my first post  

 

I don't see what the big deal is with Sheldon & Penny spending some time together, or the hug. They both miss Leonard and are bonding over that. He makes her a hot drink, like he does when he sees people are upset - that's very IC of him, he'll have seen her missing Leonard and he saw how they were in the car. They hug, but it doesn't say he hugs her or that he enjoys the hug, and maybe he needs the hug too because he misses his buddy. It's nice that they have each other. We don't see Shamy in this episode, but we might learn later that they've been getting closer. It's a hug, not erotic nose caressing. 

 

We don't know how much of the video Leonard showed. Yes, he shouldn't be showing it off, that's not cool. But it's a film, not a personal video. And Penny is the one who did the film even if she says it wasn't released. He misses his girlfriend, he wants to show her off, it seems on that boat he's having the life he never got. Not saying it's right for him to do that. But we don't know what he showed or why. They're fine in the next episode. I don't think she's going to be pissed off about it too much for too long if she finds out. 

 

Amy and Bernadette... they're just having some fun. I always make jokes like that when I go out with my besties. Bernadette knows Amy won't do anything, they're allowed to enjoy being hit on! 

 

Sheldon is showing his concern for Amy in his special way. They're fine. Penny misses Leonard and when he's back from his exciting trip of a lifetime, they're going to be fine. 

 

That's my view of it. I love Lenny, I love Shamy, I love Howadette. I love Raj and his newfound (bad) ability to speak to women. There's nothing in there that suggests anybody will be breaking up or cheating or making Shenny happen from a hug.

Well, I don't know about you but the more info Jennifer gave us (so kindly!) the better I feel I'm not mad at all so far. In fact, I'm ecstatic about the bar scene and how it seems to have played out. I'm so so proud of Amy, I thought they were going to turn her into a lustful woman who just wants to hit on men to have what Sheldon won't give her and instead she stood up for him and wouldn't let it go even after Bernadette backed off and realized she had been awful. That is really good to me. It's the second time someone tells Amy she should just go for someone who gives her what she wants and she is firmly against it. That all bodes well for Shamy.

So when does Leonard pay off his debt to Sheldon for saving his life?  Does that mean Leonard deserves all the crap he gets from Sheldon?  Having affection for someone shouldn't come at the expense of your dignity.  Guess I see friendship differently than most.

You need to lighten up Sheldon is the antagonist, Leonard prob puts up with the crap Sheldon deleivers to him, probably out of obligation. He agreed to the room mate agreement, and it is just easier when your living with someone as difficult as Sheldon just to go along with his rants, so he well basically shut up haha. Leonard doesen't receive any less or more greif from Sheldon as the rest do, Leonard has done alot for Sheldon he has arguably had a bigger influence then anyone has had on him when it comes to his social development and interactions. I agree that Sheldon takes Leonard for granted and should treat him better, but what are you going to do it is what is is.

Spent time, like playing D&D on his bed etc. Was Sheldon thinking that Amy can/will be in his bed after she comes back from their trip with Bernadette and therefore there is a chance she will bring bugs to his bed? How could those bugs enter to his bed otherwise? I don't know about how bed bugs transmit, but is it enough if they would touch each other's clothes? How could that happen? When they hug each other?

Assuming the writers knew they were getting a double slot before they filmed, for those upset with the openers contents, it may be that they are putting out later story arcs in the first one and will revert to type in the second to leave a sweet taste? Fingers crossed!
