Why can't they just be friends?   In a way, it's what they have been all along with the exceptional, and obligatory physical contact.  No doubt they care for each other, but that is friendship.  Love, physicality, and intimacy shouldn't be forced.   If Sheldon wants to have her as more than that, and not just on paper, then he will prove it.   Otherwise, Amy is a great character in her own, and I would love to see her rocking out the neuroscience, perhaps even stirring a little competition with Sheldon.    Who knows what that would drive Sheldon to?

I like the quote, "Love is a friendship caught on fire."   If that is their endgame.

I say a Nobel for Amy!!!!         .....and one for Sheldon later. :imsohappy:

Agreed. I have a clear vision of Sheldon happily walking Amy down the aisle...to marry someone else.

Well when she tried to date someone else he flipped out so I wouldn't imagine him being so happy about her being with someone else. And on 7.23 he brags that she cannot be physical with another man so I am pretty sure he doesn't want other men around her. But if the writers decided to go down that route such as keeping Shamy as friends it could be interesting. I feel that they both have romantic feelings for each other though so they are not ever going to be just friends. These feelings may not be enough for them so that they would end up together and even though I truly believe they are endgame i guess the time will tell.

The angst is for all this so called change that is apparantky going to magically happen in other peoples views

Personally right now I can't see how going away will make him revaulate things and suddenly be OK with it all

They need to keep viewers interested for three more years. There will be lots more breakup & makeup drama but the final chapter is already written.  We KNOW they will all live happily after so I just don't understand all the emotional turmoil among the fanbase. Maybe it's just fun to ride the roller coaster and be in a dither all the time?

I guess sometimes the journey is more important than the destination. Or what you said idk.

Haven't read thread, so sorry if repeating (but have read taping report....you guys rule, thank you).

Disappointing, but not unexpected and totally in character, and in keeping with the writer's penchant for sending characters away for the Summer I suppose.

Excited to see Sheldon.03 when Season 8 starts. No-one here really seemed that enamoured with Sheldon.02 anyway so it can only get better; can't it?

Sheldon 'flipped" out three times. The first time he ended buying the cats and his mother straightened things out. The second time he got upset when Amy went to the movies with Stuart. He tried asking Penny out. The last time he hit Leonard after he had taken her to the reception. And that happened 2-3 years ago. I remembered Sheldon telling Penny ,and I'm paraphrasing, that he put a lot of effort for her to be part of his life. It seems that could be said for Amy. I cannot imagine him getting less jealous in the future over Amy and walking her down the aisle to marry another man.

Okay I just gave a lame example and you said all these. I am one ashamed Shamy Shipper

Joke aside I agree I can only imagine another love interest for Amy as a plot device to make Sheldon jealous. I don't know if I would like to see it again at least if they revisit that I hope the try a different approach.

If the writers take advantage of the finale, instead of doing what they did with Leonard's trip (nothing), Sheldon will learn on his summer vision quest that he misses his life in Pasadena and he especially misses Amy. Since he probably violated the relationship agreement by taking off like he did, Amy will move on, so when Sheldon comes back she will be dating and going out, so the first half of season 8, Sheldon will have to win her back. After he does he will change a little, he'll still be the same self absorbed ass to everyone but for Amy he will start being a real boyfriend. The new running funny thing will be that he still won't do anything he doesn't want to do unless Amy asks him to do it, of course with great powers come great responsibilities, so Amy won't abuse her new powers. Buy the end of season 8 Shamy will be cuddling on the couch when the gang comes to watch movies, to the complete shock of the gang.

Season 9 Lenny gets married and Shamy gets engaged. Then in Season 10 Shamy has their wedding which is ruined when Penny's water breaks and she goes into labor while she is Amy's matron of honor. The Shamy wedding is finished in the delivery room waiting area.

How's that?

I don't really care what happens with Sheldon and Amy, it never connected with me. They could return to being friends and I wouldn't blink. Amy could has been a much funnier and engaging character without him IMO. In fact I think they missed an opportunity but that's for another topic. And Sheldon needs a damn shake-up, he's lost his mojo. The writers need to get their thinking caps on and come up with something to entertain us for 3 more years and they know it.

Penny and Leonard getting engaged again, no surprises there, it's been coming for a while. Whether anyone cares about it now, is another matter. Was it worth the wait? Does anyone think she's the girl for him and he's the guy for her? I still can't figure out why they're with each other half the time. They seem to have settled into a routine.

Raj? I think they should have made him gay now. At first I hated the dreadful stereotypical jokes at his expense but it would have given him an edge.

Howard and Bernie, again does anyone care?

The show is still very much a threeway, Sheldon, Penny and Leonard. With Howard and Amy coming in next.

The outline you proposed is unlikely to keep the show going for 3 years. Unless the stories get a lot thinner.

Ironic that Sheldon is running away because he hates change and hes expected to change while he's away

I don't buy it

It is not so much that he has to change while he is away, but being away will give him time to accept the changes that are occuring, because THEY ARE occuring, whether he likes it or not.

Completely agree Cecilia, as a Shamy shipper I know they are practically endgame, just as Lenny and Howardette, and Raj and Howard (;)) that's not my concern, but I do care much more about the way the relationship is developed, I don't care if they end up together if for that to happen I have to endure watching years of Sheldon being a complete and utter ass to her while she only sighs, roll her eyes and gets hurt and exasperated in a consistent basis.

And as a first and foremost Amy fan, I want her to be treated as an individual character again, she is amazing, funny and there are a lot of comedy possibilities if she is treated properly by the writers, not just as Sheldon's prop and the much less lucky half of the couple.

Yes I think that is what they they do.

But should we be able to predict his story so easily? A great story is meant to surprise us. We should not know the ending ahead of time.
