Network "Upfronts" take place this coming week.

The Upfronts are an opportunity for networks to sell ad time to advertisers at scheduled events during mid May every year.  They present their upcoming lineups, push their hit shows and give a peek into what's in development.

The CBS event will take place on Wednesday, May 15 at Carnegie Hall, the day before TBBT finale airs and the cast appears on Colbert.

Just a heads up.

TV Insider Podcast: A Farewell 'Big Bang Theory' Roundtable — Plus, Matt Roush's Tribute

Quote

Our whole universe was in a hot dense state...

Can you believe we're less than a week away from the series finale of The Big Bang Theory and one of the best sitcom theme songs ever (thanks, Barenaked Ladies!)? We can debate the theme song worthiness another time but after 12 fabulous, top-rated hilarious seasons, the series that brought nerd culture into the cool zone is wrapping up on May 16, followed by a retrospective special with stars Johnny Galecki (Leonard) and Kaley Cuoco (Penny) hosting.

We couldn't let the show go out without one final bazinga so for the latest TV Insider Podcast episode, our Jim Halterman grabbed time with television freelance journalists Scott Huver (People, Vulture, Variety) and Jean Bentley (The Hollywood Reporter, Rotten Tomatoes, IGN.com) to talk the high points of the series, how breakout character Sheldon Cooper (Jim Parsons) became endearing more than annoying, and whether we'll want to see the show come back in some form in this wave or reboots and revivals.

‘The Big Bang Theory,’ Stephen Colbert and More: 5 Things We Learned at CBS’ Upfront

<snip>

“The Big Bang Theory” cast is getting emotional over their show’s end: After a sizzle reel featuring highlights from the sitcom’s lengthy run, the cast and executive producer Chuck Lorre hit the stage — and struggled to hide their emotion. Lorre reminded the audience that “Big Bang” almost didn’t happen after a disappointing first pass.

“Thirteen years ago we made a pilot, and around this time 13 years ago, [former CBS Entertainment president] Nina Tassler called me and said, ‘It’s not very good. Would you consider doing it again?’ To which I said, ‘Yes, thank you.’ And here we are.

“We realize how lucky we are,” he added to the audience of media buyers. “All you guys, I guess you buy advertising. It’s mostly drugs, I noticed. Regardless, thank you.”
