Chucke Lorre is probably in town for them BUT it is impossible for Jim to be there. The actual presentation in 4pm .

Plus BBT hasn't had a presence at the upfront in years...they kinda don't have to now.

Would I freak if they did hell yea!

The little girl that had cancer that was an avid TBBT fan passed away.   See more and all the clips the cast sent her.

I spent all day thinking about commenting about this, because I cannot fathom the loss or either of my children....so here goes...

It was wonderful that the cast all responded.  But it had gotten to the point that they basically had to.  The people who were rallying around this child were so aggressive in their pursuit of messages from the cast that they were harassing anyone with any connection to the cast for a video message.  I finally started blocking people on Twitter, because I couldn't take it anymore.  We've seen it on IG, where people who want attention from cast members, will hassle the casts friends and professional contacts until their drawing...photo...whatever is "liked" by a particular cast member.  It sets a dangerous precedent....you did it for this child, why not mine, why not me.

Please understand, I watched my mother-in-law die over the course of a year from a brain tumor, I held my brothers hand, as he was near death waiting for a heart transplant and promising him anything if he would just hold on a little longer (BTW, he did get a heart), my sister-in-law was just diagnosed with lung cancer and has lesions on the brain.  When someone you love is facing death, you will promise them anything, but what responsibility will these actors or any other "celebrity" have in this digital age. What pressure will be put on them to respond and if they don't, risk being branded "heartless, cold or unfeeling". How do they choose who to reply to and who to ignore?

For me, it is worrisome.

I'm really sorry for the little girl, 14 years old... i'm really sorry, and i'm happy she got to see the messages from all the cast. But i have to agree with you, and thanks for putting into words what i've been thinking...

I agree...and have been concerned about this myself.  But it was sweet they did reply, although you are right...they were pretty much pressured into doing so.  I don't understand why people don't just write the proper channels and hope that they will get a response.   Most people have enough compassion that they would have brought this to the attention of the celebrities and talked about the pros and cons of participating.   But in this case, the folks involved in that organization were relentless.

I just am choosing to think that at least her family have the memories that the cast responded and will never forget their kindness.  So that is a good thing.   But you are right...where do you draw the line and how many sob stories will they get.  This was pretty easy to vet and prove to be a truely sick child...but I am sure there are plenty of pushy young fans out there that will use any trick in the book for attention.  And even if they are ill....how many and where to draw the line is a good question.

i admit I don't know all the details of the story but what I read online but it's more worrisome to me that some are more concerned about celebrity millionaires and proper channels than a dying (now dead) little girl. I know I would prefer the "hassles " of being a celebrity than having what happened to that little girl.

Sure, anyone would prefer it. But what happens when the celebrities are getting 100 (1,000; 10,000, pick a number) requests a day? Do they only take the first 100? Of course then 101 thinks they are all assholes. What if they are getting 50 requests a day, and all of those families are showering then with more requests to provide what those families want? At some point, the celebrities won't have time to do anything but reply to the requests. No one has a right to pressure anyone to do anything, just because their job gives them visibility.

I have a question about a passing moment in ads for TBBT on TBS, I guess.

I think it's in the ads, anyway.

They show some kind of filtered stills of the cast apparently taking bows at the end of a taping.  In one of them, as I recall, Simon and maybe Johnny and one or two of the girls and Jim are there and Jim is holding up what looks like a newspaper while Simon is pointing at it, I think.

Does anyone know what that was about?

That is, if my description makes any sense...

I haven't seen the ad, so am not sure.  If I see it I will watch for what you are asking and see if I have a clue, but as of now, no...no clue.  Sorry.
