Popular Post Lionne Posted February 23, 2014 Posted February 23, 2014 I always thought that season 3 was a build up to Amy. Especially the way that Amy came right after Dr. Plimpton, who Sheldon obviously had feelings of affection and respect for, and he did get somewhat jealous over her. I always wondered if Sheldon had some very loose idea of being closer friends with her, but after how she behaved during her visit, he knew that she definitely wasn't right. And then, BAM, in walks Amy. All of the failed matches, also, made the click with Amy all that much more sweet. All of his double takes over her, and that moment where she takes sex off the table and he gives her this long look and then offers to buy her a beverage is just....one of my favorite moments of theirs ever. You can just see Amy catch Sheldon's total and utter attention and focus right in that moment, and honestly I don't think he's ever really looked back.

Popular Post Lionne Posted February 23, 2014 Posted February 23, 2014 (edited) Not just that, but also her comments. About church etc. He almost litterally was hanging on her lips. So true. I don't know how often I've watched that scene, but somewhere, sometime, I have to be able to fit "if that was slang I'm unfamiliar with it," into conversation, because I can imitate it almost perfectly at this point in time. His double take when she says that! It's priceless. ETA: Random thought....I was watching some old episodes, and I miss seeing Penny and Leonard together in bed, having some of their discussions. And I realize that even more than "I love you" or marriage proposals or anything like that, the scene that I can barely dare to dream of is Sheldon and Amy, just snuggled in bed together after having sex like it's something "they do now," and are both totally comfortable with, having some post-coital conversation about mundane matters like their friends or gossip or discussing whether they'll have sushi or Italian for work the next day, and what type of food cravings they get after a night of sex. I can see it: "Amy, you know that I crave the carbohydrates you can only get from pasta after a night like this?" In any case, we're so far from that I can barely visualize it, but the idea of them still partly entwined and enjoying pillow talk just about makes my heart leap into my throat. If and when we ever see that on the show (god, I hope we see that on the show. Writers, come on, why don't you want to move forward so you can write scenes like this?!) I will in such a state of shock I might black out the first 20 times I even try to watch the scene. THAT is the kinda stuff I want to see for Shamy in the future. Popular Post koops Posted February 23, 2014 Posted February 23, 2014 That scene is just perfection on so many levels. It's epic. "When science discovers another member of your species..." indeed. I wish they would recapture that aspect of their relationship, which is truly what set them apart from the rest, rather than just putting them at odds like they are doing right now, which is something we see all the time with Sheldon.

Popular Post koops Posted February 23, 2014 Posted February 23, 2014 OMC Lio! Your bed scenario. Even better, if their version of pillow talk includes science factoids that they giggle over like idiots. Or something like BazingaPunk's bed scene, with Sheldon recording all their sexual activities in a log book and them reading it together in bed. There's so much cute stuff to do with these two once they cross into the physical realm that I'd be very disappointed if we never get it just so the writers can continue make the same damn jokes they made for the past 7 years.

"Sheldon, can't you put that book down and hold me while I fall asleep?" "If I was a dogapus, I could hold you while you fall asleep, read this book, fold my laundry, and play catch with a ball at the same time. But alas, I am not a dogapus." "True. As a dogapus you'd also be mute. Now put that book down and come here." "Yes, dear." ETA: Like 10 minutes ago I said, "I can barely visualize it." Well, I guess we're down that rabbit hole now. Popular Post stardustmelody Posted February 23, 2014 Posted February 23, 2014 (edited) Flip it! Flip it! Fliiipppppp itttttttt! Why does no one think of the tables? I think it's hard not to default to wanting to see jealousy, or wondering if they will go there with Bert, because jealousy was the big switch that worked with Sheldon before. His jealousy of Stuart is what made him finally take the leap into "making an honest woman" of Amy by asking her to be his girlfriend. So it's a "tactic," for lack of a better word, which according to the canon works as a method of moving Sheldon forward. But two things: 1) Like Koops points out that I pointed out, jealousy or other "tactics" to move Sheldon forward are things that Sheldon is only reacting to. They aren't stemming from any pro-active thoughts on his part to move himself forward because he's ready and wants to do so. 2) Once upon a time, at the onset of this relationship, this wasn't the case. Sheldon was clearly moving things forward on his own because he was interested in her. He was texting her, tweeting her, Skyping her, setting up dates himself, such as taking her (and he was the one who apparently applied pressure to her to get her go with him) to a reading at a book store, going to her apartment to check up on her, and basically putting perhaps more effort into pursuing her company than she was for him. My original fascination with the relationship was that this was very different behavior for Sheldon; it made it clear how much he liked her and it was exciting to see him pursuing her. And doing so rather well, I might add. . . . Bravo! Agree wholeheartedly! "Sheldon, can't you put that book down and hold me while I fall asleep?" "If I was a dogapus, I could hold you while you fall asleep, read this book, fold my laundry, and play catch with a ball at the same time. But alas, I am not a dogapus." "True. Yikes. To the fanfic mobile, Koopsy Wonder! Oh Lio, you always seem to get it! Love all the commentary on the last couple of pages. One thing that I hope they somehow bring out in this coming episode is that Sheldon's growth has not ALL been because of Amy. I believe she was the biggest motivator toward his willingness to open up and awaken what was already inside of his heart and mind, but I also think Leonard and Penny had a big influence and impact on him as well. It has always bothered me that everyone assumes all of Sheldon's new adaptations to who he has always had potential to be (I hate the word change), is Amy's "fault" [by the purists]. But Sheldon was already even in S2 and 3 starting to come out and show signs he had potential to be more than the robotic version of himself. But it was Leonard and Penny (and even Raj and Howard to a certain extent) that had a HUGE influence on him as well. I am hoping somehow there is some sort of acknowledgement that it isn't just "Amy". If they do bring out that they have been a big part of him coming into himself as well, then I think it will come out a lot better and avoid a lot of the future arguments that the 'purists' make against Amy. They would have to learn to acknowledge that Amy was only one person of many who had a large influence on his transformation. To the fanfic mobile, Koopsy Wonder! Speaking of dogs, I still remember that Sheldon once said he likes to have his belly scratched. Now that's another potentially comical/adorable pillow-talk scenario for these two. Bravo! Agree wholeheartedly! Oh Lio, you always seem to get it! They would have to learn to acknowledge that Amy was only one person of many who had a large influence on his transformation. Exactly! And it's very evident in Staircase and how the Sheldon in that episode contrasts with the Sheldon of several years later, after Leonard's influence. And, in any case, Sheldon's characterization is so all over the place I find it really hard to say whether he's really changed or not most of the time. That's why I don't know if this episode is as effective as they'd like it to be, maybe they should have saved it for further down the line after really showing us more of this "affectionate and open-minded" Sheldon. Then, yes, it would have been more convincing.

I liked her for one episode though, that whole season was indeed a prelude to Miss Amy

Kazziedal Posted February 24, 2014 Posted February 24, 2014 Ok guys. I think I need help lol. I just spent the entire weekend editing all my TBBT dvds so that I now have a separate 4hr movie that is only shamy... As much as I love all the characters, there are occasions when I just want to watch the shamy moments and I was tired of fast forwarding all the other parts............ Do I have a problem????? And even though I don't have season7 yet, I did manage to include the SIK as the last scene. So now we know there is approximately 4 hr 5minutes and 10 seconds of shamy footage from seasons 3-6 including the SIK.
Tensor Posted February 24, 2014 Posted February 24, 2014 So now we know there is approximately 4 hr 5minutes and 10 seconds of shamy footage from seasons 3-6 including the SIK. You know how we always want to have our favorites moving forward? That 4 hours and 5 minutes of Sheldon and Amy works out to 1 hour and 21 minutes of time PER SEASON. Which translates to 3 minutes and 25 seconds PER EPISODE. Is it any wonder we all want things to move faster? If you want to talk in terms of how much per week, we see of their lives, we're looking at 1 minute 30 seconds per week, for a year. How much movement do we really expect to see in that amount of time?
