Wow, loved it! Yeah Amy's being much more like her old self this season and it's great! Kinda wish I'd gone unspolied, just to know what my reaction to seeing the last scene would be. I'm probably better knowing in advance though, the shock may just have killed me if I didn't know what was coming...

The writer's are getting their give them some credit they have progressed shamy a lot, it's a work in progress. This show is not about big moments or cliffhangers, but gradual progress, and that make's it realistic, I tend not you or anyone here in general but people expect too much from Sheldon and all the character's, I am sure at some point this season well see Sheldon wanting an SIK.

Actually after thinking about it you are right, we need to see some initiative on Sheldon's part that he wants more as well, love spell was a good start but its not fair on Amy that it nearly always comes from her POV, am feeling a little underwhelmed atm

Still looking forward to seeing how it plays out

I woke up every 2 hours across the night to check this report, so if I'm now going to be tired all day I'll hate all of you (and myself). LOL!

Anyway, my thoughts on the episode.

Things I loved:

1) I loved how while the other couples had more traditionally romantic storyline, the Shamy plot seemed to have nothing to do with romance until, at the very last moment in the hotel room, the whole science plot with Sheldon turns into "the most romantic thing anyone has ever said to me". I love that the *science* turned out to be the romance for Shamy.

2) I think the only part *I* care about seeing really is that scene in the hotel room. I cannot even begin to describe how incredible I think it is. Not only Amy is back to her blunt, honest, brutal season 4 self, making everyone around her feel awkward. But, like Jon said earlier, she GETS Sheldon in a way nobody else does. She knows how to make him feel better and she knows to tell him the truth instead of hiding behind "I'm proud of you". After so long of her admiring his brilliance left, right and center, it's great that we see her point out his failures and show that her admiration isn't blind. Fantastic stuff.

3) Sheldon. In the whole episode he is brilliantly arrogant and mature at the same time. He is still his old self, showing off like a peacock when he thinks he made his great discovery and yet, just like with Kripke last year, completely devastated once he realizes his failures and really really hard on himself. That is a great sign of maturity and of the fact that, as much as he is a narcissist, he isn't a fraud: he doesn't want praise for something he doesn't feel he deserves and Amy is the only one who understands that. And I love that he seems to only care about what she thinks. First you get the impression he is upset because she isn't proud of him, then you see him cheer up because she isn't proud of him. And what he finds romantic is the fact that she feels embarrassed about it just as he does, when nobody else does. He knows she's the only one who understands and finds that romantic. So great.

4) There aren't any complaints from him about serenading Bernadette for Howard. For a guy who last year used to complain about cocktail parties, this is another massive leap.

Things I did not like:

1) Amy's self-deprecating "I didn't even make the cut", "I don't get lucky"/"You and me both" jokes. Yawn. Can we please move on from the whole idea that Amy wants what Sheldon won't yet give her? It stopped being funny ages ago, especially when they show Sheldon all caught up in his science and Amy only caught up in romance. She's a scientist too, and a smart one at that, can we focus on that a little?

2) Related to 1, I wish they had her a little bit more involved in the science plot. I was hoping the photo Bill tweeted would have been about her being the one having tea with Sheldon while he works (and maybe working too). It's the kind of adorably nerdy domestic scene I'd like to see.

3) And now, also related to 1, for the big contrarian. The daydream. *Shock, horror* I know. I really don't see what the big deal is about that daydream, other than giving a visual of Sheldon leaning in to kiss her. We know that Amy wants him to kiss her, I don't see the point of reiterating that point again and again 100 times. It adds nothing to the overall story. I totally agree that, had it been a dream or daydream on Sheldon's part, it would have actually added something to their progress. Not only that, but I'm so glad it's a daydream because I don't really like the implication that she would be happy being told she's a distraction as long as he kisses her and I wouldn't like the implication that she *is* distracting him. It's such a stupid cliche.  And the whole "Like mommies and daddies do" line... I hope it gets cut and changed to something else. This is a man who had face-to-face RP sex with her, why would Amy fantasize about him saying something so baby-like after he virtually nibbled on all sorts of body parts  is beyond me. I'm sure this scene will be giffed until the cows come home, but it adds absolutely nothing to the episode nor to the overall progress of their relationship, so I could have done without.

Nothing more to add!!I agree with every point you've made!!

After reading the report all I can think is ''this the most romantic anyone has ever said to me''.. But not only because there is something Sheldon actually finds romantic but because she knew exactly what to say!!After reading that I wanted to do the little dance Amy did on the couch on the 7.03 episode!!!! :dancer: :dancer:

I dont know if its the actual daydream people are excited about, but rather the implication that a sik is in our near future. At least thats it for me lol. The dialogue of that scene is not up to the show's standards, and it doesn't even sound like Sheldon, but that doesnt mean Amy cant daydream about it.

Hello, I'm Stefania and I come from the other forum, koops invited me here. :D

Can I jump right in? Of course I can!

I thought that daydream sequence was meant to be off because that's what happens when you do daydream: it's not exactly based in reality. As for Amy, especially, I think it is fitting that she daydreams a very hallucinated, over the top romantic version of Sheldon that thinks she is distracting him from work. She obviously wouldn't want to hear those words in real life and in episode 5 she comprehensibly didn't leave her job to take Sheldon home.

As for the line "like mommies and daddies" do, I don't consider it particularly contradictory that she would think of that: Sheldon and Amy are those characters that will remain somewhat innocent or childlike even after they did/will do things that are "adult" by definition. I think. I thought it was funny that in 7.01 she said she happy she "wouldn't have to give the goodies" just because guys offered drinks.

Something that I don't think was mentioned and I thought was interesting is that Sheldon got that bit about Leonard and Penny on the rocking chair. Good for him for connecting the dots! lol

Oh welcome out of lurkedom Stefania :)

I do think I've been nitpicking the daydream a little bit too much. It's not that I think it's a bad move, I just don't see it as adding much in terms of progress, but I can see what Maddie is saying about it being a hint that the real one is coming (hopefully). Also, I think knowing it's a daydream in advance probably spoils the purpose of the scene, which is for the writers to pull a massive Bazinga on the viewers. So I can see that they'd want the scene to be believable enough while still being a bit off (indeed the dialogue being a bit weird).

I still am not sold on the "mommies and daddies" line for the simple fact that while Sheldon and Amy are inexperienced and possibly shy when it comes to real intimacy, I would think that she would use whatever she has already experienced as a frame of reference in her daydream. She has heard Sheldon tell her "I kiss you on the lips", "I erotically caress", "I nibble on your...". It seems odd to me that in her daydream she would imagine him revert back to such a kindergarten way of talking, you know what I mean? Both Sheldon and Amy have made enough references to sex in real life by now to show that they aren't that innocent, but only inexperienced and maybe a bit fearful.

I totally forgot about the rocking chair line, though! Thanks for bringing that up! That is one large leap of inference for Sheldon, indeed!

as I have said many times Sheldon is not so innocent when it comes to talking about sex!!

I didn't mean they are innocent, because that's not what I think at all, but that they would use those expressions.

Thank you, koops!

I the end, I think, it was meant to be off on purpose, since now Sheldon looks for phallic symbols online and Amy makes very sexual jokes that Sheldon understands.

I wouldn't be surprised if Sheldon in that scene doesn't look at all like himself.

Why does the daydream have to add much in terms of progress?  It could just be there for entertainment purposes only!

Bringing up the word "innocent" probably was not the right choice. lol

What I meant is this: take, for example, how many people call feces... poop. Or bum bum like Raj!

Sheldon has an old-mannered type of speech sometimes and he can get very technical and blunt when it comes to bodily functions.

I'm not sure how many times Shamy used that type of child-speak, I would have to check... but yeah, that's what I meant. :p

I mean in terms of getting super excited about it. We know Amy wants to kiss him/be kissed, it's nothing new. So I don't see the big deal. If they had Sheldon daydream about it or something it would have been both entertaining (like I said, I know the scene is meant to be a prank on the viewers) and another step forward at the same time.

I think--like a lot of other things that bug me about the show--the last scene was mere a set up of the big "In the zone" joke and a tease for all the Shamy fans. No more, no less. Since it is pretty much a throw-away scene tacked on at the end, it has to be. I agree with koops about the "Mommies and Daddies" line. Somehow, that irritated me to no end. I don't think Sheldon would really say that. I also started freaking out a little when he started talking about her distracting him. I was thinking, "OMG, not THIS plot device. Anything but this." One thing I have loved about the show is that Sheldon, at every interval, hasn't blamed or hidden behind his relationship with Amy to cover for any lack of progress in his work (with the exception of his dealings with Kripke which had everything to do with Kripke and nothing to do with Amy). There has been no malice from Sheldon towards her in that way. Instead, it's been more like he is in awe of her power and importance to him, which I love because it implies that Sheldon is aware that she is an enhancement to his life, not a distraction. I think that having Amy daydream about this demonstrates how much she likes the idea of being a "distraction" for a man clearly enthralled by his work that he was "in the zone" for most of the episode. Looking at it that way, it could be very romantic to someone like Amy.

The big take away for me was having Amy be the one to truly comfort Sheldon and "get" him by telling him she wasn't proud. Instead of having him say something generic like "Thank you, Amy" and maybe gifting her with a smile or a quick, awkward hug, he looks at her intently and says "That is the most romantic thing anyone has ever said to me." See where his brain immediately went? Romance. SIGH. I think--for this episode at least--Sheldon proved the more mature of the couple in regards to their relationship. Honestly, it was a great transition to see. I--and Amy as well--love it when Sheldon is driving the relationship train. :give_rose: If the daydream at the end was the writers' way of foreshadowing a SIK, even better.
