Okay so ... When Sheldon asked Amy to come over for date night for tonight's episode, I'm basically supposed to understand that he flat out asked Amyif she was ready to lose her virginity. Because obviously she didn't know it would involve raiders; she said as much herself.

Do you think he threw a little winky face into the text, you know ... for whimsy (qhats life without it?)

"Hey Amy. Hope you're ready to lose your virginity tonight! Got something fun planned and it involves a whip!. ;)"

Don't mind me, guys. Hahaha

OMG I CAN TOTALLY SEE THIS HAPPENING

For some reason, I honestly could see this happening.  It is very much in character.  Oh my...I love it!

I actually think that Sheldon's use of "lose your virginity" and "rock your world on my couch" is evidence that he's NOT thinking sexually, because he obviously did not intend for her to think that something sexual was going to happen.

He did not intend for his words to be taken that way.

I do love the spontaneous date night, though, even if it was in order to try to ruin LHOTP. An unscheduled skype call to set an unscheduled date night! Oh, my! :p

I just loved the new episode really much. It was adorable. In my opinion, there was a heavy flirting in those goodnight wishes "Goodnight Dr Fowler." "Goodnight Dr Cooper."  There was no reason why they called each other so formally in that situation... normally a couple would say goodnight honey or whatever, but this is the way Shamy is actually saying endearments to each other. And oh that amount of flirting in Sheldon's body language and looks he gives to her and in his speech also in general in this episode. Can I even say, not to exaggerate it, but is he starting to have a passion for her?

"Fond of her" isn't enough anymore to describe his feelings for her.

Sounds like a fanfic one-shot to me. Someone needs to get to writing!

They can call each other all the pet names they want, but I find the "Goodnight, Dr. Fowler." "Goodnight, Dr. Cooper." exchange to be adorable :-)

I know people think it was cute for them to call each other by their titles, but I don't think it was a pet name thing at all. In fact, the unnecessary formality was probably more of Sheldon's way of unconsciously informing Amy that he sees her as an adversary here, not an ally. She might not have picked up on it, but I think she will for the future.

However, I would love it if they called each other by the titles in a "pet name" fashion. That would be super cute.

Oh, yes. I agree. Especially with how sincerely he apologizes when she points it out, which is something in itself. I forget who (forgive me!), but someone in this thread a while back said something about how sex isn't the first thing Sheldon thinks about when these kind of things pop up. For example, in the Love Spell Potential when Howard tells Bernie he'll take her "on an all new adventure" when they get home, and Amy has to inform Sheldon that Howard means sex, despite it being obvious. I think it's true, too, his mind doesn't immediately take that leap.

Having her "lose her virginity" in this way to Raiders because he loves the movie so much is probably a big deal to him, which I'm guessing is why he made that choice of words.

Skype session

" Good night Dr Fowler ", " Good night Dr Cooper"

Amy shut Sheldon's jaw

hoo ... I don't know for you but just that is enough to make me feel excited.

Remember we also have the "I like you, quirks and all" also coming up

@Adorkablyme. It's a pattern. Since S4 the 10th ep on the season has always been meaningful to Shamy:

4x10_ Alien Parasite with Sheldon getting sorta jealous of Amy wanting to have sex with Zack and their first hand holding

5x10: He asks her to be his girlfriend

6x10: Fish Guts

Hmmm... maybe we'll get an ILY for real?? I mean, if Sheldon can tell Leonard and Penny he loves them, surely he can tell Amy. I know it's a different kind of love, but still. :p

Hmmm I agree Maddie. I think Sheldon would have an easier time with an ILY vs. physical contact. I always said I could see a proposal before Shamy coitus. i could definitely see an ILY before a SIK. :) In a sheldonesque way of course  :icon_biggrin:

^^ Yeah, that's what I was thinking. This season he seems much more direct with his feelings. It feels like the writers are pushing him towards an ILY. :D Perhaps he becoming more man, less emotionless robot.

There is this person (crying infant) going to a lot of the review sites sprouting about how "Amy is wrong!" And you can almost hear the wild inhalation of indignant snot being sucked back into his skull in as tears are being fought back.

1. Indy saved Marion when the ark was opened! Why would Marion have been at the ark opening if Indy hadn't f--ked up the sale of her amulet? She'd have been dead or partying down in Hong Kong.

2. The Nazi's were digging in the wrong spot! See number 1. If Indy hadn't f--ked up the amulet sale, then they'd have been digging in the right spot.

3. Indy stopped the plane that was taking the ark to Germany! They probably weren't going to the Island at all!- Damn, they could have killed a lot more Nazi's? Wow. Indy really screwed that one up. I think they still would have opened it at a secret location.

4. The Nazi's followed Indy on the plane. They didn't know where Marion was. This one is plausible. But that means this was all Indy's fault! Even more so! Also, I think the Nazi's had figured out where to find Marion, they just were keeping an eye on Indy.

I loved the Raider's revelation. I didn't see it coming. I was hoping for a snake diatribe. This was way better/worse!"

I think Sheldon knew what he was doing with the virginity comment. I wonder if he is worried he'll chicken out when the moment comes. He'd just rather Amy think he doesn't know what he's saying than really disappoint her.

"I know I said, tonight's the night for wild sweaty fun. Playing scrabble with the Periodic table doesn't qualify? Someone's hard to please."

I wonder if Sheldon's ILY will happen some exceptional, indirect and geeky way or direct way by saying it straight to her face...  I would love both, direct ILY or then indirect, maybe even so unnoticed that Sheldon understands it later that he has basically just said to her he loves her... I would take both.

^^^Completely agree. I do believe he knows exactly what he is saying. He has had virtual sex, is using too many innuendos this season and understanding other's sexual inferences too much to convince me of his innocence.  As for the virginity/couch rockin' comment I would have been mad but he played (aka I'm putty for Jim)  it kind of flirty vs. asshat. :nono:   That being said I look at it as Sheldon's way of dealing with the real-deal on the horizon and his insecurity in that arena. The more he "talks" about it the smaller the tweepodok becomes.

-I could see Sheldon saying the ILY before the kiss in a non-Shamycentric episode where it's just part of a conversation and she helps him out ....maybe in an episode about scientific television characters called Proton and Nye, where the viewership is high anyway. :secret:

Wide awake dreaming.  :lazy:

This makes me think of the Friends episode when Chandler says something about Ross buying Carol a crystal duck when he was in love with her, accidentally revealing to Rachel that he was in love with her. I would love it if Sheldon accidentally said something like this, a Freudian slip, revealing that he was in love with Amy without realizing it, and then everyone stopping and being all, "wait... did you just say you're in love with Amy??"

But then again, I would also love it if he were to just come out and tell Amy, "I love you." I would love any scenario that had him professing his love. ^_^

I think it would be awesome if, in a future episode, the gang is hanging out having dinner. Somehow, Indiana Jones comes up in conversation and Sheldon nonchalantly says, "Oh yeah. Now that I took Amy's virginity, she should have to watch all of the movies." He laughs at the memory and, bemused, stares off into the distance. "I thought I was gonna rock her world that day on the couch, but she really rocked mine instead."

That would stop conversation, believe me. Plus, Penny would choke on her dumpling. :danced:

If I may bitch about something (LOL). Based on what we know of episode 5 and how it ended with Amy and Bernie upset because of their men, why are the writers just okay with ending it like that?? It wouldn't bother me so much if it weren't the fact that it's always the girls saying, " I'm sorry..." Bernie says it to Howard in episode 5...Amy said it last night to Sheldon but did he say it back for seeking revenge? No! Haha. So thinking of that and how episode 5 ends, I think it's only fair that these episodes end on a happy note for the ladies sometimes too. It shouldn't always be: the man screws up. He screws up again. No apology. The woman screws up. Apology.

End rant. LOL.

Not only that, but then in the next episode it is skipped over when still unresolved as if everything is back to normal.   I think they should at least start out with some sort of resolution when they leave it open ended like that.   Sort of like they did with Spoiler Alert....no resolution, and episode 5 again no resolution.  Then episode 6 they are back as if nothing was wrong.

Exactly. Glad I'm not alone in this. They can't just leave those stories unfinished like that. Certain things don't need to be continued but if couples are in conflict, we should see how it gets resolved for crying out loud.

Those are possibly great stories being left untold. Anyway, here's hoping this won't take away from all the Shamy goodness that is headed our way.

I don't think the show has ever done "consequences", really.  The resolution is pretty much always implied.  In Spoiler Alert, I think the airing of grievances in the hallway is essentially the resolution.  The guys know what they did wrong--Lenny pushing his way into Penny's apartment, Sheldon blaming Penny instead of owning up that he didn't want Amy there.  I think that Amy, for all her indignity with Sheldon, was in the wrong in the same way that Leonard was--she just pushed her way into Sheldon's apartment (or tried) without really looking deeper than the surface logic of it.

But just as there were not consequences for Sheldon's "foamy vengeance", there aren't usually ongoing consequences for all the little ups and downs that they all go through.  There were no consequences for the guys messing with Sheldon's North Pole experiment, and on and on.

So it doesn't bother me that things aren't tied up with a bow at the end.  I kind of prefer it that way.  It feels less heavy-handed.

The writer's I don't think look at these finer detail's as most fans, not saying they don't they probably do but when it come's to resolution, they probably feel seeing TBBT progresses in such a slow fashion, that they can afford to hold off on it, and just focus on specific story arch's, but I understand everyone's views.
