A lot of them don't read the full taping report or just read it and assume the rest - but a couple just base their theories on what others have mentioned in the shamy tag

Hello shamy shippers. I want to know your opinion. Which episode do you think that cbs must submit for the nomination of the emmys???. In my opinion "locomotive manipulation" jim and mayim were amazing in that episode.♥♥♥♥

I think I now realize the pendulum we swing on as Shamy fans (and I often blame the writers' inconsistency for this, because it requires a lot of headcanoning away). We have a good run of a few episodes, get all excited and positive about what it all means, then hit an episode like this where there's a line like Amy's, and are thrown for a loop and tend to almost forget the good stuff: that Shamy have had moments of emotional intimacy and honesty in the past, that they obviously do talk and have discussed and worked out many aspects of their relationship (or they wouldn't have relationship summits, upgrade the RA on a fairly regular basis, add kissing to the RA or discuss career changes, financial instability and intelligent dog uprising, etc) and that they have finally made more leaps and bounds of progress in physical intimacy in the past two months than in the past two years combined.

Despite the fact that I agree that it represents Amy's perception here, and not necessarily reflecting reality (I don't think Sheldon is as comfortable with or open to Penny as she thinks), I think the timing of this "Penny" line by Amy is just off, especially given recent events. And I blame the writers' need for comedy/drama for that. As soon as there's a milestone, it only lasts a couple of episodes before Amy is already complaining about wanting more and/or different things, and it just makes her come across as if she's never happy with the progress Sheldon does. We got the D&D, we thought that would appease her for a while, but it didn't, the sex lines didn't stop. We got the kissing, we thought that appeased her, but it apparently didn't either because she's already trying to move in with him or now moping over Sheldon and Penny.

Granted, he moves frustratingly slow, but I think if the writers wrote her as being happy at least for a little while, his frustratingly slow pace would come across as a lot less of a burden for her. But since Amy being frustrated seems to be hilarious to some writers, we never go that many episodes without seeing her. It all comes down to what the writers see as funny. I think they've gotten a bit too complacent and lazy and refuse to think outside the box of "frustrated Amy" or "sad Amy" to move things forward with Shamy. This relationship has many facets to it that makes it fascinating and the whole "snail on the back of a turtle" aspect of it is just one, and possibly the less interesting. I would like them to explore the other facets more and devote more time to those, to what makes them a perfect match to start with, or otherwise people will wonder why these two are even together. Some of your posts seem to suggest that Amy is getting literally nothing but work out of the relationship, and I'm sure that is not what the writers want to imply (or she would be nuts staying in it in the first place, unless there's something wrong with her), but they are implying it as a byproduct of refusing to think outside the box. I would like to see more of WHY these two are together.

I think the other problem is that Amy is written a bit as all over the place because she's used as a plot device, and it's particularly apparent in episodes like this. In some episodes she's written as this very sensitive and emotional woman longing for all sorts of hippy-dippy things, in others she's written as a relatively pragmatic and content woman in her odd relationship. And I'm sure she can be both. But I feel like rather than blending these two aspects of her more subtly, in a way that is truer to life and to a real person, they have Amy 1.0 appear in one episode and Amy 2.0 appear in another, depending on what suits their needs in terms of the Sheldon plot (or who the writers are and who feels like Mary-Sueing into Amy that week). And I think until they start considering Amy as more than just a plot device to tell a story about Sheldon, this inconsistency in the writing of the whole relationship will continue.

Life and real relationships are never all good or all miserable. The good and the miserable are mixed together on a day-to-day basis. No relationship is going to be a cruise all along, every day, not even during the course of a single week. So, in that sense, I think that Shamy getting frustrated with each other because they both talk a lot (and they do, both of them) is realistic. These are two people that, despite it all, are still very similar. Both Amy and Sheldon want things done in their own way and are very stubborn. And I do think that, even though they might talk a lot, they are both constipated when it comes do discussing what they feel. I don't think I've ever heard the word "feel" come out of either of their mouths, and with anyone, not just with each other.

The thing is, this, and many of the great points made here, is a lot of meat to grill in 20-minute-long episode on a sitcom that involves 5 other characters. So I think if we expect clean resolutions to some issues before a specific milestone, or for the relationship to be turned inside out before things move forward again, we'll be disappointed. I don't think there's ever going to be a turning point where Sheldon becomes totally selfless and from then on we will never hear Amy complain again. That not only wouldn't be true to life, but also not true to the characters. But, on top of that, I don't think that selflessness towards her is something Sheldon necessarily has yet to learn, because HE HAS done very selfless things for her in the past. Fish Guts and Isolation Permutation the most prominent ones. We KNOW for a fact that Sheldon can be selfless and smitten and caring to her. They just need to be shown more. There can be comedy in that too, and progress in that too, not just in Amy moping and complaining and Sheldon being self-centered.

This ^ Koops you just perfectly summed up how I've been feeling after this past taping report (and wrote it out better than I ever could've)

Well someone else on tumblr was seriously wondering whether Shamy had sex in the episode, so I guess they just make it up as they go along lol.

Then they're in for a surprise with the "if that was a sexual realationship" line in the PP ep. Though it's really interesting that he said that after seeing Amy dressed like that. Could they have known then that something like that would happen in the previous ep back then?? I doubt but it would be cool if they did..
