I think what annoys me even more is Leonard's response. Because I could even buy Amy having a moment of stupid and suddenly feeling mopey, but Leonard should have set her straight and told her she is out of her mind. Not saying something that sounds like Penny has the magic touch with Sheldon out of everyone in the gang, himself included. I'm sorry, despite what Shennies like to think, that is simply not true. I think the only reason why it may come across as Penny getting walked over by Sheldon less than Leonard and Amy is because when she's fed up with Sheldon she can just shut the door in his face and ignore him, whereas Leonard and Amy can't or won't.

Precisely this. Leonard (and then Amy) have always been the ones doing the "heavy lifting", whereas Penny would either get into an argument with him (I'm not saying without reason) or just ignore him (and that's okay). She obviously took care of him during the Summer as Leonard asked her to (we saw they went shopping for groceries together and that's fair) in the same way he asked Sheldon to look out of her and they got closer, but - and here comes the big but - Amy was there, too. We haven't seen what happened. I mean, he has a girlfriend, I'm sure they did most things together as a couple, right (in S6, they both mention Shamy going to the bank and grocery shopping together, so that's not even a stretch)?

I find interesting that especially this season, wherever they have a plot with them, Penny has a problem with Leonard so she can't be with him. In the past, most of their plots revolved around either them getting angry/not understanding each other or being forced to stay together by the circumstances. What their relationship amounts to is that of two siblings that love each other, but would rather keep distance since they mostly get into arguments/don't understand each other's way of living.

And since this is really what we're talking about here, is Amy then supposed to feel jealous of Leonard, too, since he's Sheldon's best friend? Is she supposed to be jealous of his mom? His meemaw? Everyone around him? Let's just say someone didn't bother to check because Amy as the Crazy Jealous Girlfriend just doesn't make any sense whatsoever. Amy. Jealous. Of the people she feels are like her family?

And Leonard, you too - what are talking about? You're the one living with the guy! lol

Anyway, I'm off with this, I'm strongly feeling I'm not making any sense anymore. :p Just like this episode. :p

Agree with you. Sometimes there are some words or episode I want to forget and this one is included in the package. It's like when we get 2 or 3 excellent episodes in a row, they can't resist throwing something inconsistent in our face. I hope that at least this is leading somewhere with Sheldon and most of all : It has to be managed carefully.

About Amy being jealous of Penny :

I don't like it but I think it is pretty coherent. Even If the guys keep repeating that she has a huge impact on him, she doesn't seem to realize it. But she can notice other's affinity with Sheldon, including Penny' one.

She also said that she felt bad about lying to Sheldon (thanks cod because I couldn't forgive her to abandon Sheldon in this situation otherwise...). The guilt feeling mixed with the unawareness of her impact on Sheldon compared to the very minor impact Penny could have on him explain the jealousy feeling

For us, It's nonsense but if you look at it with Amy's eyes, It's not suprising at all.

About the last aired episode :

First thanks for your insights. It was IMO the best ep of the season and your comments just comfort me in that choice !

The kiss was very interesting, I loved it !

1. The way Sheldon looked at her. You're blind if you didn't see with how much love and gentleness they gaze into each other eyes.

2. The way Sheldon grabed her without fear, disgust or hesitation. Nobody now can deny the fact that Sheldon appreciates kissing her.

3. The "light's up" mention is in fact very interesting (thanks Lionne for insights) and makes to whole scene very funny and "nerdy". That's the Shamy kind of uniqueness I enjoy.

4. Finally the most promising part ; Amy's cardboard and troubled reaction. Yes it's not the passionate kiss we're waiting for but this kind of reaction tells us that there is way to go( and thank it because we have 3 more seasons for that ). I'm relieved that the sex starved behaviour was in fact just a facade; It was already clear for us but now it can be for the average viewers too. There's not the "suprise" element of the first SIK. This time, everything was planned but stills, Amy is shown very shy and uncertain. This is, in a way, very good because like you said, it opens to a lot of possible scenarios inculding the one where Amy is the one slowing down and Sheldon the one containing his desires and dealing with the whole hypocrisy of the situation. Those stuffs could deepen their understanding and love for each other to finally allow a proper romantic love making worthy for our Shamy.

I have not a single beat of disapointement regarding SIK 2.0. Good job writers ! ( even if you need a good correction for the last taped ep...)

Yea I admit when I was at the taping and they had Amy say that was like wtf why would they even do that??? I 'll be honest, shenny scenes are kind of a huge turn off for me and I get very protective of Amy. I wanna take her away from all this and keep her under a warm blanket and give her hot chocolate while listening to Neil Diamond while I caress her hair and tell her how precious she is. This wasn't supposed to be like this Amy was always so confident and I really hated seeing her like that and this episode got me feeling down for a while. And it's really not fair how they're making this such a wild ride of emotions.

I hate how much they sacrifice for cheap laughs which I don't even know how genuine they really are cause they encourage us to give "big laughs" when appropriate. So idk if it's worth it even for the average viewer who isn't too invested in these characters. Idk I just want Bill back I got super excited when we waved at the audience the day of the taping lol

Penny kind of teamed up with Sheldon because she was in a career crisis too and because her boyfriend was not enough supportive. It's not like she's doing it just for Sheldon. I'm sure she's the last one able to support his complaining so If the writers tried to show us "how strong their friendship is", well,  I think they didn't get it.

What I don't get is why they feel compelled to make it seem like their friendship is so close that Amy would have to feel jealous? Why do they even want to go there or imply that?  :bad:  It makes no sense to me.   I really don't care for it when they sort of play the line a little too much like they are trying to always leave the door open for Shenny even though I know that isn't what they really want to do.  But sometimes they really do make it seem that way, but why? :scratchhead:   They have no intention of going there and have shot it down in the show many times before in previous episodes.  Yet they now and again, like to tease a little as if there could be a question of a romantic thing with them and I don't understand why?

Molaro clearly loves Penny and Sheldon scenes together, and he claims to be a huge Lenny fan.   But he has basically pushed Leonard aside a lot this season in favor of Sheldon/Penny scenes through most of the first half of the season.   We had gotten away from them being together in the second half so much (I felt they overdid the early part of the season with them) and it was nice to see that the show was having all characters progress nicely, then =@ they go and do silly things like make implications they did in this episode.  It really puzzles me why they even go there.   :icon_question:

I understand he likes to make it clear who are the lead cast members by putting them in scenes together.  I have no issue with that, but I do have issue with them constantly flirting with that line of "is there something more between Sheldon and Penny than friendship".   Why did they have to have Amy clarify that they having nothing romantic between them?   All it does is make you wonder if there really is something there then since it had to be brought out in the script.  It just really bothers me when they go there and do things like that.

Like I said, I can understand Amy developing a bit of an insecurity now that she sees Sheldon is responding to her advances, but I just don't see a need to bring out anything to imply Sheldon and Penny are anything to be honest.   We all know they are friends and yet as some mentioned above prefer to keep a distance from each other.   But when they had him siding with Penny earlier in the season against Leonard always it was disturbing.  It made them too much on the same page and that isn't who they are.  They really are supposed to be polar opposites not understanding each other.   Molaro had them understanding each other too much in the early part of the season (thus that makes sense that Amy was feeling a bit insecure).   I just don't care for that approach.  I like it better how Bill avoids that whole issue by just not putting them together in such a manner.   :girlsigh:    I sure hope he comes back and does more writing and participates a lot more in the next three seasons.

THIS. I get so heated and frustrated when they make Amy come across as weak and insecure just so they can remind us of who the two leads are and put those two together. I just wish if they really wanted their SheldonxPenny scene they could have come across it in a more unique and interesting way that actually made sense. And most of all without having these words come out of Amy's mouth making her come across this way. We know that it's just words and the facts of previous episodes don't add up, but to the casual viewer they might not take it the same way.

They could have easily had Sheldon/Penny still go see a psychic. I had no issue with that scene although I do find it hard to swallow that even Penny could talk him into going to one and also I really hate that it was a psychic because that stuff is a bunch of hooey, but at any rate, they could have figured out a completely different approach to getting them there.  It is the whole finding Amy had lied to him and then they take off to go see the psychic that was a bumbling mess.   It led to all kinds of character inconsistencies through all of the set up getting there.   It also led to awkward dialog that just brought out sloppy writing choice.

Yeah. Notice how, this season, every time they've had a Shenny plot they had to find convoluted ways to make it happen. Send Amy out of town, have them paired up together by a names pulled out of a hat, Sheldon being on forced vacation and Penny being unemployed and now have everyone in the gang being fed up with their complaining. They just don't strike me as two people who naturally gravitate towards each other, because they have very little in common. They would both go through Leonard or Amy (or A/B in Penny's case) before they go to the other.

I always felt like Penny and Sheldon could learn from each other given what their differences are. For example, last year, I thought that given Penny's issue was commitment and Sheldon's issue was affection, they could both learn from the other to give their SO's what the other is good at giving (commitment in Sheldon's case, affection in Penny's case). But that was about growing as people while learning from each other's differences. This weird sort of commiseration about stuff that is mean to make them more similar to each other and therefore go from that bickering relationship that used to be so entertaining to this sort of "we're just going to be a-holes together and behave like immature children towards everyone else" (Penny in particular, in this episode, was even more immature than Sheldon) is just not what makes S/P scenes fun to me. I don't think they've had one memorable scene together this year at all, I don't really think they did since the infested chair of death episode in S5. Now THAT was great Shenny.

Totally agree!   When they force it, it plays forced and isn't entertaining at all.  You are right the infested chair was about the last time they were entertaining together.   I have not enjoyed a single one of their scenes together this season because they have all been forced and not natural at all.   As you said, they could learn from each other, but the writers instead are trying to demonstrate they are similar instead of them being polar opposites which they were for five seasons.   So why did they change that since S6 is beyond me. They are much better and far more entertaining as polar opposites who can nuture from each other now and again, but otherwise are better off going to their SOs.

I hate to bring up a comparison to 'Friends' (or any other show where characters try to date the ones that you know they are not meant to be with) but it's like when they had Rachel and Joey have a romantic fling.   That was so weird and it ended up going no where, but you know it was written for shock and twist value.  It upsets most of the viewers, and for what?   I don't think the writers would take it that far, but I agree with everyone,  even tip-toeing around it is unecessary.

I wouldn't say I didn't enjoy their scenes. I still think S/P are entertaining, they're not... Amy and Raj (*shudders*). I liked them in both the premiere and Scavenger hunt and I loved that little farewell to the check engine light joke. But they were not memorable scenes, and they most definitely didn't have that spark of hilariousness that made them a great pairing in the past. Leonard and Bernadette and Howard and Amy stole the show over them in Scavenger.

And now all of a sudden we are meant to buy that Amy is feeling insecure about Penny?! Amy is respectful of his personal space and issues with touching, but only to a certain extent. She's hugged him and "forces" him to hold hands. And he's now kissing her! How can it even cross her mind he's more comfortable with Penny when she's the one who has the most physical contact with him and spends most of her time with him?! When SHE is the one who had to tell SHELDON how to behave as a friend WITH PENNY in Monster Isolation?! When SHE is the one he goes for advice to?! Sheldon might have given Penny a good word here and there about her career or Leonard, but he has NEVER gone to her asking her "What should I do?"?!

Yeesh!  Remind me not to go off-line for a few days, LOL.  I loved what everyone said and have fun going back and reading it.

koops - In The Flaming Spittoon Acquisition Sheldon asks Penny out on a date, she calls him on it, he asks for a way to get Amy back and in a roundabout way Penny tells him what he needs to do.  Isn't that him asking her "What should I do?"

Well I didn't enjoy them in the premiere at all and I felt they were not that entertaining in Scavenger hunt. I liked the Bernie/Leonard and Amy/Howard parts of the episode far better.   I just tolerated them in Scavenger.   I felt the premiere was very forced. .  I felt the premiere wasted the entire possibility of showing progress for Shamy in lieu of bringing Shenny closer and that was silly. They were already close and being closer served no purpose.   It was just a way to again flirt with Shenny pairing because they had to make sure to mention Sheldon had watched her topless scene and again have them hug and have him sleep over at her apartment, all the things to make it appear like they were more than friends, when they weren't and they were not even wanting to go there.   So what was the purpose?  I felt it was the worst premiere (other than S4 premiere because of the Penny/Raj thing) ever.   I do agree with you about them forcing Amy/Raj too.  Feels the same there to me.

I think Sheldon has gone to Penny a few times to ask "what should I do" but not in so many words.  He has used her advice on a few things so I don't have an issue with him now and again using her as a sounding board.  The one area I feel is completely out of character in him doing so though is about his career. He would never ask her advice about his career because he doesn't have any faith at all that she would have a clue about his career, much less care one wit about his field of interest.  So that does come across terribly forced to me.   If anyone, he would turn to Amy on this one and Amy would have given good advice.  That is why this whole round-about way for him to visit the psychic was strange and bizarre.  It was very forced and made little sense because it was so way out of character.

I don't think Sheldon went there planning to ask what he should do, he just got his bluff called out on him but I truly believe he was going there to ask her out so he could make Amy jealous. It's just that Penny saw right through the absurdity of it all of course.

I think Sheldon has used Penny (and will continue to use her) as a source of information about things he doesn't understand, like girls or social conventions, and then make his decision based on the information provided. And he will unknowingly take her advice in the process, or give a try to what she suggests because he thinks it might be worth it. But that's different from putting his pride aside and asking her straight up what he should do, like he's done plenty with Amy. He asks Penny questions. He asks Amy for advice. The difference is subtle, but important.

@Star. Regarding the career stuff, I also agree. The only thing I find off about the upcoming episode is indeed the fact that Amy (and I think Leonard too?) try to give him actual suggestions and he dismisses them but when Penny says "Oh, maybe you should just chill!", Sheldon's all "Yeah! That sounds like a good idea!". I mean, what? Sheldon who obsesses over which console to choose for days on end is fine "chillin'" over his career decision, instead of losing sleep over it? I understand that the point was to get him drunk so they could do the whole "break up" metaphor stuff, but it still seems rather OOC for him. I just let it go because it was a minor thing. But the psychic thing is just so on-the-nose! I'm glad he doesn't seem happy to be there, but still... Can we please not turn Sheldon into a hippie? If anyone should help him find his way career-wise it should be Amy, Leonard or at most Professor Proton.

While I think that the Anything Can Happen episode will be funny and enjoyable in general the little things just annoy me. When we read the report the fact that Amy was fed up with Sheldon complaining about his work and her complaining about him not being comfortable struck me as really odd. But I doubt it is hypocritical. I mean come on she obviously does care about his work and his future and she is there talking over and over about it but she probably wanted one evening to relax. It's not that bad. Especially if we take into account that she had to listen at the exact same thing from Penny cause that's what friends do. She didn't need to lie obviously and I believe she shouldn't have but she never meant for him to know and she felt really bad that she did. And I doubt Sheldon or Penny would be ok with Bernie and Amy hanging out alone. I am not trying to excuse Amy I too wondered why she complained. But I just understand her it wasn't such a terrible thing after all. Personaly I am way more annoyed by her line about being jealous of Penny cause it is just so absurd. I mean they did make a point at Cooper Extraction that he cares about her and listens at her and that she finally found out. Are they trying to make the same point again??? Plus Sheldon's indifference was a bit disturbing but at least I can head canon that as him being grumpy cause he couldn't take care of sick Amy and probably put vapor rub all over her chest :p

This is probably going off topic, but I agree that what made me like Sheldon and Penny interactions up to S5 is slowly fading now, either because they pair them up to moan about their SOs or something just feels... off.

In the same way, I'm sad we don't get a lot of besties scenes anymore. I know many people were getting bored with the lesbian jokes, but Amy and Penny's friendship was a huuuge thing of S4/5 for me and I'm always grateful they did it this way, just like Penny being the most vocal in her support of Shamy. Some would say their friendship evolved, yes, but we can still show it, right? We could have Sheldon/Amy/Penny scenes and have them make sense. Hell, the four of them have dinner with each other A LOT, I'm sure they do a lot of stuff together - as much as I laughed at Amy's comment to Leonard about them spending more time together and her thinking "it's weird", why wouldn't they? Sheldon and Penny do, no-one thinks it's weird.

I feel like I'm going back in circles, but things like these only put doubts in the back of people's minds without any proof of what they're even hinting at, especially since it's something we know they have been strongly against in the past. So what now?

I remember Amy being with her bestie and her boyfriend and thinking it's the best time of her life. That I liked. Not this unfounded jealousy that makes no sense and only makes me wish they would go back to write Amy in a way that is always consistent or without throwing bones at people here and there. We have Shamy, we love Shamy, let's stick with it.

I wondering if I should just mute and ignore the TV during that bit of conversation with Amy and Leonard. But then again, by that time, we'll have the taping report for the penultimate so that should hopefully get us through. I was seriously considering remaining spoiler free for the last two episodes, but now....not so much.

Hallelujah! This psychic thing is just so OOC and stupid and unnecessary. Instead of making Amy look hypocritical in this episode I wish they would have shown her helping Sheldon with his career crisis, maybe show them having an honest conversation about it. In the murder mystery thing Amy said the RA covers what happens if they have career changes! What happened to that! They've obviously talked about it if it's in the RA but the writers have obviously forgotten about that one line that showed so much progress in their relationship and stomped on it like they stomped on all progress this whole episode! Just like forgot that in the raiders episode Amy said they should tell each other when there upset with the other. Stomp! And Amy being jealous? Twice this season it's been mentioned how much of an effect Amy has on Sheldon. Stomp! Two steps forward, three steps back. Just ugh. Ok I'm done talking about this.

If you think it would help you, by all means do so. I know this sounds silly and I should get a life and blah blah blah, but I was mad for TWO days after an episode aired this season because I was pretty much against it (not saying which one just because it's irrelevant) and thinking about it right now makes me cringe.

So yes, do it if you think it would help. We all want to be more happy than angry at our ship. :)

Loved all the debate today guys. That's what I love about this fandom, we can fangirl and analyze and rant to our heart's content! Have to get some sleep now, but I just had to say I enjoyed the posts today a lot. Hopefully the last two eps will make us all forget about this one. :)

Lol this is kinda off topic but that scene where koops said Sheldon could hug Amy after he sees the star wars cake and then falls to the floor again, is so canon in my head every time I think of it I have to remind myself it's not gonna happen. But gawd it would be so IC and so sweet if it did.

I'm so glad I'm not the only one who feels partcularly protective of Amy (Sheldon too but I just have an acute soft spot for Amy). Anytime something in the show threatens to upset her I just want to hug her too.
