"I have desires" is like my favourite Jim quote of all times. He is such a shipper, bless his heart.

 

Jim is one of these actors who really, truly get their characters. It's actually amazing. It reminds me of how Rupert Grint knows Ron Weasley better than the movie scenarist did.

He really is. When you hear that interview he did back IN SEASON 2 with Ausiello and he's basically talking about Amy as his potential love interest, you know he knows. I'd love to hear him talk about Sheldon/Shamy more in depth. I'm waiting for an interview like that.

I've been pretty silent here this week because I'm not quite as well-versed in giving a long, well-reasoned argument. I have been a bit of a creeper, though, and I love all the points that have been made. I decided to come out just to say....Yay! Episode tonight! I saw the precious bond while out to lunch with my friend today.  I was like, "ooohhh, the Shamy fandom are not gonna like this."  My friend looked at me like I was crazy and then remarked, "but yeah Sheldon and Penny sounds kinda gross."

Mr. Jim Parsons knows what's up. I know he says he doesn't have any input in the writing process, but they should totally ask him on a regular basis.

I don't know why they do this, tho. Is it to lure Shenny fans? To piss Shamy fans?

 

There is absolutely no one winning from this. Shenny is not gonna happen. Shamy is happening right now.

 

I'd call precious bond the Howard/Bernadette relatioship, Howard/Raj relationship. Shamy relationship, heck even Penny/Leonard as bumpy as their relationship is. 

 

Brings me back to s3e1 - Electric Can Opener Fluctuation, when Penny compares Sheldon's 'failure' and consequent retraction to her not being head cheerleader and I wonder if that's what they mean as precious bond...Sheldon talking science and Penny talking trivial, as it's usually what happens when they're together. (My opinion)

I guess because Penny/Kaley and Sheldon/Jim have really good chemistry and their relationship is very unique so they're gonna milk that cow dry. They're proud of that pairing, I guess. Which they should be. But I'm honestly kind of tired of them. What a breath of fresh air it was to see Howard and Sheldon have a couple of episodes together this season. I would love to see Sheldon and Bernie have a plot together, too. I'm just kind of sick of Shenny being together all the time, and it's not because I feel it takes away from Shamy. It just gets old.

 

Anyway, new episode tonight! So excited. :D

Dear Shamy fans: The SIK is now 3.328.000 viewers (in two months!) and IT WAS POSTED by CBS! Think, only two months for more than 3.320.000! It was the most amazing thing they have gotten in the entire TBBT´s life! Do you really think they are going to destroy SHAMY? Kaley is one of the three main characters (because of her salary), so they have to give credit for what they are paying for! Plse, don´t worry anymore!! Her answer to this question intrigues me. The interviewer asked whether she, Mayim, thinks Sheldon loves Amy, and she cleverly avoids this by talking about the semantics related to the issue rather than the emotions. She really doesn't answer the question at all...yet, surely, she has an opinion as to whether Sheldon loves Amy at this point. Maybe she knows something and is being extra cautious not to reveal too much?

I don't really see it as pushing any kind of agenda and I don't think that seeing Penny and Sheldon together gets old.  I think that as long as the story makes sense and the scenes make sense, then I have no problem with the two of them.  It kind of depends on why they are together.

As Jim said in that long-ago Ausiello interview, Sheldon and Penny are kind of polar opposites in how they look at life.

 

Sheldon is very much inside his own head, overthinking, looking at things from only the scientific or "logical" point of view, unable to see the forest because he's way too focused on the trees.

Penny is very down to earth when it comes to life and relationships.  She may have big dreams for her career (as does he), but when it comes to everyday life, she's got more common sense than he does.  She's the one who, unlike the guys, was able to get him to "strap on a pair" and go talk to Amy, she's the one who, unlike the guys, was able to make him realize that he should get to know Amy in person, rather than just over the phone.

 

Although Amy certainly has the most special relationship with him, Penny has a slightly more objective ear than Amy.  I don't think she's necessarily "closer" to Sheldon, but just like the difference between a sister and a girlfriend, there are different ways that each of them is going to relate to him and he to them.

 

Although Amy knows more about science and how he might go about choosing a different field of study, Penny has perhaps a different perspective on the emotional aspect of having such an upheaval.

 

I don't know.  As always, I'm not worried.  I think that while there may be a line or two here or there that individuals may object to, the big picture remains the same.  There is no romantic Shenny, Sheldon and Penny are always going to be friends, and Sheldon loves Amy.  Everything else is less important.

In other news, I believe I found a new reaction GIF that we can use for any (Silly) Shenny incident or disagreement we find with the writers etc...

I swear to god, I think I laughed at this GIF for like 10 minutes... Its likes dur dur dur lovely Shamy *smiles* and then BAAM! *shock face* Stupid Shenny comment written all over his face.

OK, Sheldon waking up with the geology book was really well done because a) that moment you think Sheldon and Amy finally had coitus was intense, and it led to drunk!Sheldon telling Steven Hawking that he likes kissing girls now.

I'm going to replay the episode on my dvr and get dunk with Sheldon. I'm turning my phone off though. I drunk dialed my grandmother on my birthday last year...yeah not so good.

All I could think about was "That's what he is gonna look like when he really does wake up with Amy the first time." And I don't mean freaked out and saying "Oh no!" I mean without the shirt...looking so damned cute.

 

A couple things I wanted to point out:

1) Amy did say "I hope he is this upset IF we ever break up." I know some were worried that she said "WHEN we break up."

 

2) Drunk Sheldon waking up was extremely well done. Un-spoiled people must have been freaking!

 

3) Amy helping drunk Sheldon to bed....too cute. And him asking where Amy was in the morning.

 

4) I mentioned this under the RD thread, but Sheldon's tone of voice was a lot more subdued this episode. I know they are putting him through the ringer, but I can't help feeling bad for him when he sounds quiet and not his perky, obnoxious self.

I haven't even seen the episode yet and I'm freaking out! Shelly looked so damn cute waking up in bed. If anyone knows an alien friendly site I can watch it on, it would be much appreciated!
