Misophonia Posted October 18, 2013 Posted October 18, 2013 I don't know what it was, but there was something "off" about Sheldon last night. I don't know if it was Jim or what. He looked a little strange to me. I have been racking my brain, but I can't figure out what makes me feel this way.
denajeanx Posted October 18, 2013 Posted October 18, 2013 (edited) There is a sneak peak for The Romance Resonace? I don't think so. All I've seen is a Promo. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c49-ee0O-Xg I don't know what it was, but there was something "off" about Sheldon last night. I don't know if it was Jim or what. He looked a little strange to me. I have been racking my brain, but I can't figure out what makes me feel this way. I felt the same way. But not just Sheldon, I felt the entire cast/episode was off. I still enjoyed it but I wasn't on my usual 'high' afterwards. Edited October 18, 2013 by denajeanx
rachelshamyfan Posted October 18, 2013 Posted October 18, 2013 (edited) It was taped just after Jim's emmy win so maybe they celebrated a little too much but in any case I enjoyed it Little random but I liked the way Sheldon greeted Amy at Pennys door Edited October 18, 2013 by rachelshamyfan
Chaliceinnana Posted October 18, 2013 Posted October 18, 2013 I don't know what it was, but there was something "off" about Sheldon last night. I don't know if it was Jim or what. He looked a little strange to me. I have been racking my brain, but I can't figure out what makes me feel this way. Sheldon was acting happy. He was smiling. He as kind of glowing with joy. It was probably more Jim than Sheldon. Maybe Jim hasn't figured out how to do in love happy Sheldon as opposed to "MY BRAIN IS BETTER THAN EVERBODY'S!" happy Sheldon. The difference isn't subtle.  Also when Howard yelled at him, he acted like Eunice from the old Carol Burnett show. Or a large startled chicken. Loved it. Very specific choice. Susana Alcira Posted October 18, 2013 Posted October 18, 2013 The seven of them were GREAT last night, but Jim and Mayim showed how Sheldon and Amy exactly feel one each other. They are great actors!! Next EMMY to both of them, please!!!!!
stardustmelody Posted October 18, 2013 Posted October 18, 2013 (edited) Chalice...love your comparison to cats in love. I laughed so much at that.  Thanks for the entertainment.  I think the cast were slightly off because:  1) It was taped right after the Emmy's and they all were out late 2) Many of them sounded like they were losing their voices so probably didn't feel well 3) After coming down from the pre-Emmy high, reality was setting in that they now have to wait another year 4) Mayim in particular seemed low energy for her and her voice was close to laryngitis so I think she wasn't feeling well at all 5) Jim was playing a very "happy" and "smitten" Sheldon who was desperately trying to win brownie points with his significant other (sorry, but love that he implied that).  I think Jim was possibly playing him a little over the top to try and get energy levels up from the rest of the cast that seemed a bit tired and worn in their performances last night.  LOL!  They all were slightly off.  So he was very high energy which only accentuated Sheldon's glee at Amy working nearby. 6) Jim was happy. Good grief, he just won a third Emmy.  He was still on a high, while the rest of the cast wasn't.  In past years, they always took the week after Emmy's off and didn't tape right after. I think they should have stuck with that approach this year because it is clear that it does take a toll on them when they have so many events they attend before and during that evening.  Next year the Emmy's are scheduled (I believe) in late August, which would put them before they start airing. It will be interesting to see if they work through again or take the week off. Hopefully they learned to let these guys rest after such festivities.  Loved Sheldon's reaction to Howard yelling at him. It was definitely a winner in my book!  I should mention, that despite the "off" nature of the acting, it was a great episode. I loved it and thought it was wonderful watching Sheldon show how much Amy meant to him. He just loved having her around all the time and could not stay away. Sure he was very awkward and annoying in his approach, but then he wouldn't be Sheldon, would he?  At least he made giant steps forward to show her that she means the world to him. and that he loves having her around him.  That is what I loved about it, along with the fact he wanted to fix any anger she had toward him.  Very cute to see smitten Shelly! Edited October 18, 2013 by stardustmelody
Misophonia Posted October 18, 2013 Posted October 18, 2013 (edited) I did find it fascinating how they were not-so-subtly pointing out how alike Sheldon was with the monkey. The implications of this are numerous. Â 1. This explains the root of Amy's attraction to Sheldon. 2. As Amy studies, teaches, and manipulates monkeys all the time, it should be easy for her to do so with Sheldon. Moreover, she infuses the test monkeys with human traits all the time (cigarette smoking, drug addiction, watching cable, etc). Therefore, it should be just as easy for her to "humanize" Sheldon. 3. Since she has a deep, developmental understanding of how monkeys are put together, she, therefore, has a better innate understanding of Sheldon than anyone else. 4. Amy is the clear leader in that relationship. (Like we didn't all already know that.) 5. That they will, at some date, have wild monkey sex. (OK. That last one might be something only I got, but I am sticking to it nonetheless. Plus, when they finally do have coitus and it is compared in some way to monkeys mating in the wild, I will be screaming "I told you so! I told you so!") Maddie Posted October 18, 2013 Posted October 18, 2013 The episode felt a little off to me, too. Sheldon did seem different, much "happier" than normal, but I kind of assumed that was because of Amy. There was definitely a sparkle in his eye the entire episode, even when he was forced to ride the bus and lost some of his precious sleep, but I suppose that was because of Jim's Emmy win. savvyhat Posted October 19, 2013 Posted October 19, 2013 I absolutely adored happy Sheldon, haha. Maybe it was a tad much at some points, but it just made me want to snuggle him. Also, when Sheldon pays Amy a visit to apologize, I liked how Sheldon responded to the door being slammed in his face by saying, "What, no goodbye?". Makes one wonder if he has come to expect something with their goodbyes like a hug....or a kiss on the cheek. Teehee.

Catlina Posted October 19, 2013 Posted October 19, 2013 Annnd I read that as "wild donkey sex."  Time to turn off the computer for the night.....  Wild donkey or monkey sex, either one is good as long as they are going there! Sheldon doesn't know the molecules of his heart have changed their place since Amy came to his life. Maybe he always thought he is a free atom floating in the universe with no binding to anything or anyone. But now he and Amy are having such a chemical binder and binding energy he doesn't want to part from her, ever. I think he clearly thinks with implying Amy is his significant other, that he is planning to live with her the rest of his life. denajeanx Posted October 19, 2013 Posted October 19, 2013 I am so happy we got a little taping report for 7.07, but I am befuddled by this: 'We have another scene with the girls making jewelry in Penny's apartment. When Howard and Bernadette arrive Howard keeps making fun of raj, who gets upset with him. Howard goes over to him and apologizes. Amy states that they probably will have sex become Sheldon and her do!' What does it mean?! LOL Ahhhh.

koops Posted October 19, 2013 Posted October 19, 2013 (edited) I don't think Amy and her fondness for monkeys has anything to do with Sheldon and how good she is with Sheldon. Neuroscientists don't get trained to "humanize" people. Her being attracted to Sheldon and so good with Sheldon has to do with the fact that she started out AS Sheldon. She was in his shoes, his head, his heart for most of her life before meeting him and the gang. She gets him. Unlike Leonard, who, because he is used to his mother, is good with Sheldon but in a different way from how Amy is good with him. Leonard puts up with him and tolerates him, without understanding him. In a way, he deals with Sheldon the way Mary does. Penny does that too.  Amy, for the most part, does not "put up" with him or tolerate him, but understands him. It may appear like she puts up with him on the surface, because with understanding comes patience. But understanding adds a very much deeper layer to "being good" with someone. Parking Lot was a lovely contrast  between Leonard and Amy in that regard: "You're my best friend, why do you never take my side?"/"Because I can never understand your side!". Who took his side in that episode and TOTALLY understood his side?  The monkey scene was absolutely brilliant but it was pure comedy. Sheldon is not a monkey who needs training. She is not trying to change him or humanize him in any way and it would be just plain wrong if she ever tried to do that. They are equal in the relationships, nobody is leading anybody. She's simply more open minded than him and so develops faster and he struggles to keep up, but he's trying and for a lot of things he is way more mature than she is, and has demonstrated so in many occasions last season (Wheaton, Fish Guts, Love Spell). She might be better now at navigating social situations (although her reactions to the drinks at the bar in 7x01 shows she has a while to go), but that's about it. Just as Sheldon follows stupid advice about his relationship in this episode, Amy looks up at stupid ideas of romance to model her relationship on. They both have work to do.  The final scene in this episode was so telling because it came full circle from last year: their individual quirks make them love each other more.  eta: I actually got sidetracked with this, but the reason why I came in here was to ask (with a big smile) whether we can have Shamy-related episode discussions in the Spoiler Free thread once the episodes have aired? Otherwise it's hard to have Shamy convos without taking over the episode threads. I hate missing out on discussions! LOL. MJistheBOMB Posted October 19, 2013 Posted October 19, 2013 That's a good idea Koops but at the same time, sometimes while discussing spoilers, other topics will naturally flow out of us as well so it will be impossible to only discuss spoilers here. LOL. Those curious about what is being discussed in both threads will just have to go to both threads.
koops Posted October 19, 2013 Posted October 19, 2013 Yeah, I know, I'm just saying because the Spoiler Free thread is pretty dead right now and it seems like most of the episode convo is happening here But it's tricky to discuss things without straying into spoilers and viceversa I guess. Bummer.
