menamena Posted October 19, 2013 Posted October 19, 2013 (edited) Also the whole idea of comparing Sheldon to a monkey who needs to be "reprogrammed" is honestly offensive to me, even though I'm sure it was not intended as such. Imagine, the genders switched and a guy compares Amy to a monkey who can be "reprogrammed" or "manipulated" by her boyfriends will. It just isn't right. I am with koops on this. If you enter a relationship solely to change someone then that's an extremely unhealthy relationship. Plus, canon clearly disagrees with that interpretation. Sheldon and Amy are together because "Amy is more similar to me than anyone I've ever met.* Also, this episode where Sheldon is openly smitten with Amy - she did not have to manipulate him to get that side. He just adores her THAT much. Anyways even then, I don't think the cause of Amy's attraction to Sheldon is as simplistic as her liking monkeys. I think she loves Sheldon because he also gets her in so many ways and is there for her when she needs him. If Amy's attraction to Sheldon was based on his similarities to a monkey then she wouldn't have enjoyed playing counterfactuals with him or experimenting on the whole gang with him or countless other instances where they work together. 3ku11 Posted October 20, 2013 Posted October 20, 2013 Mayaim's really pretty in real life, not that Amy is ugly it's just she is not pretty in the show, I think it stand's out more because say Kaley for example is extremely hot in the show and out of the show, so it stand's out more seeing Mayiam, wow she's actually pretty haha. As for Shamy I don't think Amy is trying to change Sheldon nor do I think she is trying to modify his behaviour through testing the monkey, it's hardly comparible to Season 3 when Sheldon tried to change Penny's behaviour with Chocolate using a Positive Reinforcement Behavoral Technique, because he presumed Leonard would be appealed by a better girlfriend, but of course he wasen't Leonard loves Penny for who she is, just like Sheldon who could be argued is a big baby when it come's to Social and Emotional Intelligence, so Amy may have to navigate the variables and complexities in their relationship, so therefore giving Sheldon the oppurtunity to change his behaviour hence increase his intimacy and social awareness with Amy, but Amy is not wanting to change Sheldon, just the way he see's her and the world, it come's from a good place. Will Sheldon and Amy have sex sooner than we think?? I agree with you on the writers milking it. Honestly, as much as I love Amy's references, it is really starting to irritate me. Almost every episode this season, there has been some sort of reference regarding Amy and Sheldon's sex life, or lack there of. It kind of seems like pushing a dead horse, at this point, considering they haven't even kissed. The references seem more like deliberate teasing, more than anything. I will say that they are making progress, but I don't see sex for at least 2 more seasons (if we get that many, which I hope we do). I adore Shamy - no, I have an unhealthy obsession with them, but the writers need to decide what they are going to do. They either need to make the 'leap' or stop the references. I think just seeing an actual *possibility* of losing her would make him step up. In 6.01, she was going to leave him at the restaurant unless he said something meaningful and he did. Granted, it was from a movie but I don't believe he knew any better. They are much farther along now, but I think we need something similar to that situation in order to get things moving along. Something that makes him think, "Wow, I need to step it up." Clearly, Sheldon is VERY lucky to have a girlfriend as wonderful as Amy and I hope that some day, we'll get to hear him vocalize this to her without a smart ass remark on the end. I sure do love the Shamy. Sure the kisses didn't last long but they both count. Maybe it is just me but the first time he kind of kissed her back. He was a little surprised but he remained relaxed and didn't even flinch if I recall correctly and he didn't freak out!! I count that kiss and I think it was a goood kiss!! The other kiss was spontaneous and enthusiastic and he didn't even move but when he realized what was happening he clumsily hugged her. It was sweet!! It is definitely a success that the audience love the couple even though the are moving in snail's pace. I would love another kiss especially a SIK but I would like scenes with them doing casual nerdy things that don't get us all wondering if what is happening will or will not lead to a kiss. I insist I want a round of counterfactuals. Or a glimpse on the girlfriend/boyfriend sing along night!! We know thry exist but we never actually got to watch them singing together!!!!!!
