A SHAMY SIK is coming dont be depress!! Don´t forget, Lenny started kissing and hugging is season 1. And THEY ARE Leonard and Penny. SHAMY is SHAMY!!!!!They are U N I Q U E (remember???)

Yeah Shamy are unique, but Leonard and Penny's relationship has always been underrated when it comes to how unique it is, no different to Shamy really. Only difference is Leonard and Penny have had a lot more experience when it comes to affection and the fundamentals of showing affection in a relationship, particularly Penny lol. You cant go from never considering relationships as a relevant part of human nature, too suddenly jumping Amy out of no where haha, its Sheldon he is a work in progress always well be, but he has come a long way so it well come.

They are unique because the physical aspect of their relationship is not a big factor for now.  It's almost like watching two (very intelligent) 12-year-olds roam about that aren't really sure what to do with themselves.  You see the love there, but in a different way than by them sleeping together, holding hands all the time, etc.  As Sheldon said, it may not seem like it, but what they have is extremely intimate, regardless of how many kisses they share or how many times they have physical contact.  He's just not ready for that yet.  Amy adores him so much that she is willing to wait for him.  I find that to be quite lovely.

Koops: Not in the sense that I think Shamy can school the other couples, but I don't think that just because their issues aren't your typical "grown up" issues, that means they are not able to negotiate their issues very maturely. I actually think their current situation regarding sex, and Amy's patience with it (one liners asides) is a prefect example of mature communication/negotiation. Successful negotiation doesn't mean doing it. Understanding when one isn't yet ready, discussing it, working through the issues and being patient is successful negotiation to me. I don't know that many women would have had Amy's patience, and knowing Sheldon, for him to make an effort it takes A LOT.

Taking this here so Midol & Seagull don't completely ruin things in the general spoiler discussion thread:

I suppose that I just thought that the grand idea of Sheldon and Amy ever being asked to school or advise the other couples was a little bit out there. I'm trying to imagine someone suggesting that to Bernadette, and imagining her going off like a bottle rocket in your face about how she and Howard are married and living together, vs. Sheldon and Amy's platonic "boy-slash-girl" relationship. And I'd have to give it up to her, and not just because she's so scary when she's mad.

However, overall you make a good point and I know it. In fact, that's one of the things that I'm glad they are working on this season. In the beginning, they had almost flawless communication - although that was still a little bit in a honeymoon phase and they were still pretty guarded. However, Amy used to have a way of phrasing things in a way that Sheldon immediately understood without fighting back at her - she got him to see things that everyone else had to struggle and use every inch of their patience in order to try to make him see. The fundraisers, for example. President Seibert could threaten him with physical harm and he still wouldn't go, but Amy could make him see the importance of fundraising and why all scientists had to do it, and he threw his suit on and got to the party.

They have a unique bond and, best of all, they are incredibly honest with each other. This is part of why I shipped them right from the start. Also, neither one of them is remotely manipulative, so everything that they do is always right out in the open. I think we've only seen one example of Sheldon not dealing honestly with her, and that's when he went to try to get revenge on her and even the score for ruining Raiders, but in the long run Amy let him know they were NOT going to deal with it like his parents did, and Sheldon responded to that very quickly, and very beautifully. Of course, he got his zinger in at the end, but that was for comedic purposes. Best of all, Sheldon's response to Amy's inquiry about their romantic future couldn't have been more beautiful. So there's that.

Surely, they could probably teach Leonard and Penny a few things about talking things out rather than fighting it out or trying to sweep it under the carpet with make up sex all the time, but L/P have gotten a lot better at that too. They can fight and go through their things now without fear of Penny bolting for the nearest exit or Leonard doubting himself so badly he pressures or trips over himself.

Nevertheless, I'm not sure how Sheldon and Amy are going to deal with some of the bigger life issues in the future. Probably in their usual, quirky, "does anyone even more what the hell they are even fighting about?" kinda way. Such as Prady saying that their one and only huge and original right over their respective fields was how Sheldon and Amy engage in the "I'm smarter than you! No! I'm smarter than YOU!" type of tête-à-tête. I had a feeling it was something close to that, but who knew for sure, right? (Although you probably did, Koops. You're smarter than me.) I'm not sure how they are going to get through such issues as Sheldon *finally* meeting Amy's family (we really need to learn more about Amy's family. And Sheldon really needs to pay them and Amy the respect of meeting them already. I want more Amy-centric storylines, and the issue of her father and if she even has one in her life needs to be answered) because we know how arrogant and off-putting he can be, and if he's insecure about meeting them at all that could be a disaster. Lots of fodder there for the future - we'll see how they negotiate through it as some of the issues get more difficult and close-to-home.

*claps* I agree. The thing is, while I believe their communication and negotiation skills are incredible, the issues they communicate and negotiate on are what is suitable for their life experiences. Asking them to negotiate children and buying a house now is like asking a 7th grader to master differential equations. But if the 7th grader has great math comprehension skills, when they get to differential equations, they'll be just fine. The skill and the issues are two different things. But if you have the skills down to an art, you will be fine with the topics. And even then, Sheldon does display more maturity than Amy in that regard. He can recognize what they are or aren't ready for and can explain that very eloquently (6x14, 6x15, 6x23). I just think they have their own unique way of navigating through things, but the fact that they don't hide behind the fake pleasantries and white lies like many couples do will only do them good in the long run.

Sigh...as happy as I am for Lenny fans, seeing this list and realizing we only have two sort of non-official kisses on our list was rather depressing in a way.   I so want to see our list have at least a third kiss on it soon.

Exactly Stardust... We should show this list to writers and let them think for a moment, which pair would need kissing... and soon!

This is one of the main reasons I like Sheldon & Amy so much.

They are completely honest to each other, where Penny & Leonard are only just now slowly getting there.

I should bite my tongue on this, but I'm having not one, but TWO different conversations via text message about forum discussions getting really interesting and into the meat of certain things, only for someone to pop up and say, "Hey! How about Shamy kisses?! Anyone EVER think more about THOSE?! What do you think a Shamy kiss would be like and what type of moon do you think will be shining and what color of cardigan do you think Amy will be wearing and *giggle* OMG Sheldon's hair."

And then we all descend into a conversation about naughty things and sometimes I'm just not sure I can go through all of that again.

I know it's only a matter of timing, Cat, I'm not making fun of you. Anyone could have popped up and done that. But still. Absolutely classic. I almost choked to death on my mint Milano.

The reason I'm really thinking about this though is that I have concerns whenever we're like, "they better give us a SIK or something on this time-frame or I'm just going to be really upset!" And honestly, I'm really not that concerned for myself as I am for the people who are getting upset or making huge predictions (and this is why I stay away from predictions): the massive set up for disappointment. And if the show starts to disappoint you, it's interesting how much people stop being able to watch it or deal with the reality of what the show is laying down.

I used to be utterly dumbfounded by how the Shenny shippers managed to convince themselves (SO GODDAMN WHOLEHEARTEDLY) that something was happening that TOTALLY was not happening. But now that I see it in the Shamy shippers, I kind of get it and how the whole thing started. On the "other forum" (the Lollipop Guild? I call it my "mother forum" since I started out there), they have all of the separate shipping threads and such. I decided to go back and read some of the oldest Shenny threads, just because I was saying that our current group of Shenny's here (Willo, Qapo, Wally) were far different - more playful, into "alien Sheldon," avant garde, offbeat, unromantic interests and etc - than the old Shenny shippers I remembered, who were far more centered on the romance. (Sheldon carrying an engagement ring around in his pocket for like 4 years was a big one I remembered.)  So someone asked me, "What did the old guard Shenny shippers used to be like?" and I was like....well? Let me go refresh my memory, and see how they used to be, so I went through a reread a lot of their old threads.

It was really fascinating to me! It's like, here we are as Shamy shippers, arguing that Jim and Mayim have been nominated for Emmy's and the show has to realize that Shamy is the money-maker for this show, and CLEARLY this means the writers know we need to see a little Shamy action soon? (Obviously they didn't think we needed to see it in Fall sweeps for season 7 - we're wrong again, folks! And oh yes, I've een people say they were disappointed!) and etc....and then before Mayim ever arrived it's the EXACT SAME conversation on those old Shenny threads: Kaley and Jim were the show's big breakout stars, their chemistry was unbelievable, so CLEARLY the writers had no choice in a rational universe but to put them together! Anything else was totally unthinkable! They had their reasons, and Lord knows that their fanfiction library is extensive, and the writers did play on Jim and Kaley's comedic chemistry...and suddenly it's all there - you have them wisely, sagely, with total and utter confidence, winking at each other and saying, "Shenny will happen in season 4. It's going to be canon."

But it wasn't, was it?

And the sad result is that almost every single one of those old Shenny posters is gone. You see their posts about quitting the show, the show sucks, everything about the show went wrong, the writers destroyed everything, EVERYTHING. And I visit Paradox and I know that they are still saying the same thing - "I won't watch the episodes anymore, the show was destroyed, etc." Their expectations for a show they had no control over were not met, and it ruined everything for them.

I see it with fan fiction too - because Sheldon and Amy have varied a little bit over time, I see about 5 different versions of Sheldon and 23 different versions of Amy (love the one were she's skipping at the mall because she LOOOOVES the mall!), and way too many readers and especially many of the authors have head canoned these versions of Sheldon and Amy and cannot cope with the reality of what's on screen anymore. You spend too much time predicting things, or constantly yearning for certain things - particularly sextastic times, someone is telling me about a fic in which Sheldon and Amy have sex in front of sea lions and I'm seriously not sure I can handle that - and then the show comes along and gives you it's canon and blows a hole through your head canon and somehow really destroys a lot of your predictions and it disappoints. Massively. And it's ruined, RUINED! Like this:

(Link only, for language): http://thebloggess.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/IMG_2327bsmall.jpg

Too much time spent speculating over Shamy kisses and when they are going to get it on is a dangerous game. Careful how you play it, or you might end up really disappointed.

PS. But that said, they are totally going to have sex while surrounded by a chorus of horny Hungarian dolphins next episode and all of this will be moot.

Guess we'll just have to wait and see if Episode 10 will be another Shamy centered episode like the previous seasons.

I hope so. I mean, don't get me wrong, I'm biting my nails and hoping for a SIK as much as any other shipper. I'm also just trying not to set myself up for any expectations or head canon that will cause future disillusionment and ruin my enjoyment of the show. I hate seeing it happen to so many other people who love the show, but it would hurt worse to see happen to Shamy shippers. 'Cause I love you guys.

indeed, I am not expecting anything, as not to be to dissapointed if nothing happens.

I'd like to see an sik soon but even if it doesn't happen I will still enjoy the ride of progress our shamy are making this season

Yep, any progress they make I take it!!

Sorry for partly inconsistent post, but It's sunday and I have to let my mind float freely. ;) I tend to think that before Amy, Sheldon had no other "true love" or passions in his life than physics and science. But when Amy came to his life, something changed. He had always loved his mother and sister like it's normal to love family members. But had he experienced romantic love and passion before Amy? If he hadn't. Because it seems now he is going through puberty, I think he will reach experiencing that point more and more near time in the future. In emotional and physical areas. I think he loves Amy very much, and had begun to understand his love for her is romantic of it's kind somewhere during season 5. I believe it was very true what Amy daydreamed, he has been "distracted by her" since the moment he met her. But distracted in a good way. I think him showing romance will be awkward and sweet at the same time. I think he has experienced it some way and some amount inside of his heart, but hasn't let it known for Amy much yet.

I think, if we want to find "reason" for Sheldon's behaviour in latter half of season 6,  something was bothering him and he wasn't quite himself in some episodes. Maybe he was dealing with his issues concerning what it means to be in a long-term relationship,. Some would just say it's just poor writing from writer's side, and maybe it partly is. I couldn't say Sheldon was on "a pink romantic cloud" on seasons 4-5, not even near that, but maybe it was because of his inner issues he were dealing he behaved to Amy like that in season 6, I don't know. Because Amy shook the very foundations of his entire life, so he had to put everything on their right places again in his mind and in his heart, and it wasn't easy for him.

Everthing he had previously thought he would live his life through alone without romantic relationship, changed. He absolutely gave no value to romantic love before Amy, he never thought himself being part of one. He didn't want it because he thought there is nothing it could give to him what he would need. But he had to admit he was wrong. So now when he was in a permanent, long term relationship in his life, he had to figure out how to live life forward in this new situation he had not planned to be in beforehand. Previously he had had so strong defence mechanisms in his mind, so letting them down and letting them go was a huge step forward. Letting Amy love him was a huge step of personal growth too. Opening himself to love seems to be Sheldon's greatest life struggle. But he will understand it is worth it, the more he opens to love that is coming from Amy's direction, the more free he will be from his former wrong defence mechanisms and fears. He will not be controlled anymore by fear,  but by love, and that is the greatest change that can happen in individual's life. And I sincerely believe that is going to happen because of Amy's unconditional love that she has been showing to him.

So many things he had believed in before and planned for his life before Amy, I mean living his life alone without a romantic relationship, all those things changed. I don't mean things like nobel prize, but when it comes to a romantic relationship. It must have been quite a struggle and change to go through that alone, without talking about it to anyone (except 5x23) so if that change of mind partly happened in the latter half of season 6, I can understand the confusion and his behavior better. If Amy had such a huge impact on him, making him change his beliefs, his self image, his view of life, if she changed so many things, I can understand him behaving strangely at times. That means no justification to nasty things he said to Amy, but I just say I understand them better if they were because of struggles and battles that he was going through secretly in his heart.

I believe he loves physics and his job much, but even more today, he loves Amy. And if he thought before he loved himself, solitude, his brilliant mind the most, now he had to give up to that egoistic love. It was replaced by superior to it, his significant other one Amy.

And thank God for that owner of the dirty sock on the roof (3x23), without him who left it there Sheldon might not know Amy to this day. It was because of that Raj blackmailed him to meet her. I think he never doubted it afterwards he got there. And how much I don't like online dating websites, I'm glad there was one for those two to find themselfs, although it was set by Raj and Howard's fake profile for Sheldon.

Catlina, I just have to say that post was absolutely beautiful~! xD I'm getting inspired to write my fanfic~!

Also, on a slightly unrelated note, do we know of anyone going to the taping tomorrow?

You know what though? Maybe it's just me, but, as much as I love to play the prediction game and chew my fingers off waiting for movement and whine about the writers when there is lack of said movement... there has never been a time where canon has blown a hole through my shipper head and left me disappointed. Quite the contrary. Canon usually has a way of blowing my mind in a way I would have never expected from my predictions. I mean. 6x10, 6x14, 6x23, 7x05 were all mind blowing and unexpected for me. I expected *some* movement but not to that degree or to that level of cleverness. Yes, at times in between some of those episodes I was cursing like a one-legged pirate with an eye-patch over my eye going "Arrrrr!!! Where is the progress?". But when it does hit... boy it hits me good.

But maybe that's also because I keep very low and reasonable expectations when it comes to canon. Hell, my fanfic was 10 chapters long to lead up to (spoiler alert!) a kiss! So, usually, when the writers do deliver to me, they deliver good. I was definitely not one of those who expected a kiss by the end of S5 or sex by the end of S6. The only time I was totally utterly disappointed was 6x16. And even then, WE CALLED IT! It was there! They just took it from us. I think, and hope, that the writers will continue surprising us when it comes to Shamy. Stuff has happened in the last 3 years that you would have never thought possible with Sheldon in S3 (I went back to fanforum to read the very early Shamy threads and, boy, were people so limiting in terms of what they envisioned for Shamy).

I also don't know that the comparison between Shamy and Shenny is that apt though, since Shamy is a choice that the writers made, it's canon and it's blatantly obvious that they are dragging it out and teasing because it is their cash cow, as per their own admission at Comic Con. I think the rants about Mayim and Jim and their Emmy noms were about the fact that, from Molaro's summer interviews, it sounded like they could not care less to even put them in scenes together, not so much with the fact that since they are Emmy nominees and have such a following they should be coitusing like rabbits every episode. Quite the opposite, I think, when the writers know they have a cash cow it becomes a long drought for everyone involved, which is what we are seeing now. The question is how far they can stretch it out and tease before it's too late or before you make irreparable damage to it. It's a delicate balance, but an extremely common one to have to handle and, for some reason, tv writers just can't help but messing it up more often than not (I'm looking at you Chris Carter!). This story seems to be building, and building, and building, and it has been building for nearly 2 years now but it is really lacking a punctuation mark at this stage, and if you keep building without ever punctuating, it will all turn into a massive anticlimax when people stop caring.
