The flower scene was sweet and precious.  She already knew and complied knowingly.  I loved that it backfired.  He has the sweetest "please".  I could construe this to Sheldon begging for sex.  Sniffing flowers is a euphemism for sex. 8P

Welcome, Meg. How I managed to miss you post? I have no clue. LOL. Well, I was on my cell phone so that was a fair excuse. LOL.

Anyway, I'm in California waiting for tonight's episode :)

I love SHAMY in 7 x 8! Sheldon´s PLEASE! It´s great!!!!!

Hmm I thought Shamy was ok in this episode, I just don't understand why Sheldon wanted to pull a prank on Amy?

The best Shamy moment was Amy telling him it was diabolical.

That gif makes Sheldon look like he wants to do more than just a butt slap, what's with his leg?!

OK on seeing the promo the butt slap is kinda funny :) Also I dont know if its because Sheldon is supposed to be drunk but Jim looked like he sure enjoyed doing it!

Also massive spoiler with them saying penny married Zack!

...Sheldon looks cute, but Amy's body language isn't funny to me at all. After seeing it, I can safely say that if I was in Amy's shoes I probably would have started crying from the shock and embarrassment. The way her whole body jerks and the look on Mike's face would just....I don't know. I'd kill someone for treating me that way, especially in front of other people.

But you know. Mileage obviously varies.

In any case.

Welcome Meg, and happy anniversary to Koopsy!

Sheldon's body jerked pretty hard too when she shoved him from behind as they entered the house after he said someone (Raj?) is probably, "slaving away in the kitchen...."

thoughts?

Nothing wrong with it in my book, but I just love any Shamy interaction, no matter how quirky or "wrong" it is.

I wonder about the book comment from Sheldon, since he only mentioned it in one sentence, and basicly only to work towards the smell the flower prank, did he really read such book?

Or was it just something he made up?

Thoughts anyone?

Sniffing the flowers is an euphemism for sex?! Really?!? :o

About the butt slap: it looks better than I expected. Sheldon's definitely flirting. I thought, from the way they said he was leaning on one leg and propelling her forward, that it was going to be more ridiculous, outrageously comedic, but it's definitely more of a boyfriend-slap.

As for Amy's reaction, I'll wait and see. Lio, octopi and all, but just because you would react in a certain way it doesn't mean Amy must too. I know it annoys you, and I know it says a lot about the state of the lack of physical affection for her in the relationship. To me, like you said last week, it's more a bit sad that this scene shows how she has to catch all the crumbs he throws at her, than about embarrassment because of the nature of the gesture itself. But she's not a poster-girl for the perfect intellectual woman, just as Sheldon isn't the poster-boy for asexuality or autism. Also, Mike is probably also smiling because Sheldon just a second before has announced to them all that "she's great".

I also kind of agree with Monique and see an interesting pattern. In a lot of episodes this season they have had a parallel with Sheldon or Amy doing something at the beginning of the episode and then the other doing the same thing at the end. The "zone", here Amy shoving Sheldon and him slapping her later, the "You should go" from the taping this week. It's kind of cute.

eta: @Chiany. I don't know if he truly did, but I did like Amy's mentioning "Is this a new type of coping mechanism?" as if it's something that he does now. Trying out new coping mechanisms. I do think it's possible that he read the book and got the idea for the prank from there. Because the whole prank plotline was kind of random otherwise.

Yeah I liked Amy's reaction to that, especially after his "big 3" in episode 7.

Hoping this will continue this season, loving it.

Did not laugh at seeing him being shoved or tripping into the house either, no. I also noticed that, and didn't care for it.

I hated Sheldon in this episode. His total lack of sympathy during his big empathy lesson was cruel. Someone (Penny) should have taken Leonard to the ER. Chances are the places where he scratched himself raw we're going to become super infected. (I have eczema, so i was team Leonard.)

The sweater thing was funny thru having dinner with Howard and Raj. Then it became the act of a sociopath. Also... Pranks? I hope Amy was the one who broke his flower.

Amy seemed to be in a state of "what is wrong with these people?" Howard and Bernadette were there too, but they had each other.

Yes, the sweater thing went a bit too far, but I don't see what was wrong with the pranks? I thought it was cute.

They have a whole bunch of new stuff in Amy's apartment. The lamp by the couch, a lot of new pillows and, my least favorite, girly magazines on the coffee table instead of the science ones she used to have. At least they give her a lot more science lines this year though.

I'm expecting the Shamy dynamic in Thanksgiving to be a lot like Closet. Been there, done that, repeat. I don't think it will rock my world at all, I'm not a fan of disciplinarian-Amy and sulking Sheldon. The part I think will be funny is the two of them sitting in the backseat commenting on Penny's marriage. That's the kind of Shamy I like. And Moyra said that the "Ain't she great?" line was adorable, so I'm looking forward to that.

First and foremost, thank you for the welcome everyone (super happy to be here)!

I was finally able to watch the latest episode and catch up...

I wonder about the book comment from Sheldon, since he only mentioned it in one sentence, and basicly only to work towards the smell the flower prank, did he really read such book?

Or was it just something he made up?

Thoughts anyone?

I see what you mean, Sheldon was playing everyone, and the reading of this book would justify his uncharacteristic maturity. I suppose it's possible that he came up with that lie because he knew that Amy would care enough to ask why when he does something different. I liked how she was probing him, almost like she sensed that something was out of place. On the other hand, I would really like to think that he actually read that book, and just accessed that memory to get Amy to stop asking so many questions. Such a book would be exactly like something one would read if they were "working on it". I mean, if he went to a bookstore to buy that book, he would have to find it in the "self improvement" section, which I'm sure would not have been easy for him to do (especially as he sees much of that as hokum anyway...and honestly much of it is). The way he described it made me buy that he had actually read it. Plus Amy's line about the new coping mechanism makes me think that they openly discuss his personal progress (which is interesting thought...Amy keeping tabs on how he's doing...like, how much does she really know? How much does he tell her? Does she know that he's also working on the sexual thing? The mind races!), and so he would have no issue telling her he read such a book. So I can buy that he read it, and really, I hope that he did.

Yes, the sweater thing went a bit too far, but I don't see what was wrong with the pranks? I thought it was cute.

I agree. The sweater thing was classic supervillian Sheldon. I mean, it's incredibly awful, but it was pointed out that this was a plan that was hatched 7 years ago. Even a more revised Sheldon isn't going to let something like that go when the opportunity arises. Not a justification, I mean, he showed the empathy of a crocodile because he couldn't get past his own lesson to teach empathy to Leonard. Just terrible, but I don't think it necessarily says anything about him or his progress accept that old habits die hard, and getting closure is not a habit that's going to die.

As for the pranks, that's really the only thing I truly loved about this episode. He finally decides (after much thought) to use his tickets to play a prank on Amy? That's cute as hell. And playful, which I like to see between the two of them. Moreover, the scene with them in the kitchen was my favorite. Amy, again showing how interested she is in this whole self improvement thing with Sheldon mentions that his silly pranks are a waste of time (which I'm sorry, but she's dead wrong. Silly pranks are wonderful.) and she asks why he would do them. He says that there's probably a deep reason, and brings out the next prank. It's like because he's used to her psychoanalysis in helping him along,  he knows exactly what she's getting at, but it's like  DAMMIT WOMAN JUST LET ME THROW SOMETHING IN YOUR FACE! I love it.

I saw the promo with the slap. I really don't have any substantial feelings yet (other than concern about Jim's leg...like...he could pull a muscle, people). I need to see the entire scene in context, especially with the little smile exchange before I can make an actual judgement. As for now, it seems just like Fish Guts, with the writers toeing the line and getting everyone all hot and bothered while dodging the issue of what Sheldon's (sober and aware) deal really is (which is why I like the straightforwardness of his comment in 7.10...even though it's negative, I'm just happy to get something that's not breadcrumbs). Damn writers, how I love/hate them.

Definitely looks flirty to me. The leg lift added to the cuteness of it.

I agree, and despite what anyone feels about the supposed rightness or wrongness of the slap, I think we can all agree that Jim is going to knock this whole sequence out of the park. That's a problem with disliking the content with something like this...he's just so damn endearing. Like Koops, I was worried about the leg lift in the taping report, I mean...it sounded almost vaudevillain, but seeing it done, it's quite cute.

ETA: I forgot to mention my favorite part of the new promo! In the shot where the now infamous slap occurs, you see that near Sheldon's seat on the table is a crushed beer can. The thought of Sheldon Cooper drinking a can of beer and crushing it afterwards just makes me inexplicably giddy. That is all.
