Did anyone notice the monkeys watching in the last episode?  What other episode besides Fish Guts in S6 was shot in Amy's apartment?

 I think it was hands down one of the cleverest Shamy scene they ever came up with. Even better than D&D sex, in my opinion, because you can tell that Sheldon is reeeeally enjoying it. 

 

Ah yes, the Star Trek scene. Such good memories. I absolutely agree. Season 5 was a lot about things that were happening with Sheldon under the surface, and towards the end of the season, all of us knew that it was coming to a head somehow. Season six (and seven so far) has been much more in-your-face about the developments, while still trying to ride the fence with Sheldon. To me, the Star Trek scene at the end of season 5 told us more about Sheldon's sexuality than the end of season 6 did. It was extremely clever because the entire point of Sheldon and Amy's story in the episode was that Amy kept doing things that made him happy, which made him uncomfortable because he was feeling himself draw closer to her, and he couldn't do anything to stop it...uncharted territory (which is why the "boldly go" in the very next episode was so meaningful). So we know just from the rest of that episode that this is yet another thing that Amy did to make him happy, and it was working so well that no matter how much it pained him, he wanted it to keep going. That's a huge moment that I think clues us in to both Sheldon's sexuality and his feelings about the intimacy of the relationship at the time while not coming right out and saying much. With much of season 6, and the D&D sex, things were much more on the surface. Sheldon's fears about intimacy were out on the table during Spoiler Alert, and then addressed again, in an incredibly open way, during the D&D sex, which is good. However, the issue I have with it when I compare it to the Star Trek role-playing is that while the D&D sex let us know more about how Sheldon feels about the closeness he feels to Amy (and the fact that he isn't fighting it anymore like he did in Launch Acceleration), it didn't seem to give us any real information about where Sheldon is with sexual attraction, while Launch acceleration (AN ENTIRE YEAR PRIOR) gave us so much. And here we are in season 7 and we're just now getting a drunken ass slap and a statement of pressure, which still leaves wherever Sheldon's head is in regard to sexual attraction in question to me. I think that Launch Acceleration proved that there IS a way to write a Sheldon experiencing sexual attraction and not move him too much or destroy his character or commit to anything, or whatever else the writers might be worried about that's making them hold this card so close to their chests.

I did notice them! I was telling Lio about them this morning The only other ep in S6 after Fish Guts was Egg Salad, and they were on the side table, not behind the couch. Why have they been moved to behind the couch now? There's a whole bunch of new stuff around Amy's couch, maybe they moved them to make space for the lamp? Even then, the rest of the old stuff is still exactly where it was before. And, Bill was on the script for this one, and we know he was on the script for the original monkey idea. 

 

eta: Totally agree Meg, as always! To me it kind of felt like they stalled a lot ever since that hand hold at the end of S5. That handhold was such a culmination of everything that was building up within Sheldon and it made a lot of sense coming onto the tail of TLA, where we saw how she just kept getting under his skin and there was nothing he could do to stop it. S6 was much less delicate in putting the sexual stuff upfront, and at the same time a lot more noncommittal as far as Sheldon is concerned and a lot more on the nose as far as Amy is concerned. I much preferred the S5 balance to this, that's for sure. I'm also wondering about all those sexual lines that kept being put in the script for Sheldon ever since 6x17 and taken out or cut at editing. Again, there is definitely disagreement in the writers room about what is going on in his head or about how much to reveal at this stage.

The episode with the star trek doctor's game reminds how much I adore Leonard's WTF face when interrupting a Shamy activity. Johnny's expression is brillant. Everytime I'm LMFAO and it's additionally a very sweet moment between the two of them. I absolutely need something like that in S7. It must be weird or quirky and if it involves neurosciences, I will be in heaven... just to think about Sheldon's head covered with electrodes gave me a thrill. Lol

 Lol, no, I didn't notice them... On first look they looked like Hulk's fingers that are partly behind the couch (Sheldon had those Hulk-hands in some episode, was it season 3?)  I had to look carefully to see them as three wise monkeys
