The Mendacity Revelation

Just wanted to put this out there because this story NEEDS to be discussed. What does everyone think? Is anyone dying from these delaying updates like I am? Are there people out there who eat each chapter like its candy? OMG, this woman can write. Here is what I like about the story:

1. Covers issues on the show that I would love to see come to light like:

    A. Sheldon's lie to Kripke

    B. Sheldon's acerbic behavior to Amy in Season 6

    C. How much Sheldon takes Amy for granted

2. Explores previously unexplored (or little explored) areas of fanfiction:

   A. We get a clear idea of the kind of family Amy comes from including meeting her parents, her sisters, and her niece and nephew

   B. Amy's father isn't dead

   C. Besides work and Sheldon, what else does Amy have in her life?

3. Ratchets up the drama and angst of Shamy for (hopefully) an awesomely fantastic pay-off love story

4. The superb writing of this truly gifted author seems to envelop the reader from the first word. She is talented at eliciting a plethora of emotions in and building on themes from chapter to chapter. Something almost innocent and unimportant in one chapter ends up being very important later. This is the mark of a great writer. I am not sure if she is published in the real world and just playing in this one, but I am thankful for her every day. (Even though I know that makes me sound like some kind of stalker person.) There are plenty of great Shamy writers out there (xMarisolx, Lionne6, Sheps888, Jesterkoops, RickyTheMonkey, bazingafan, and NerdForestGirl to name a few). But I am always going to have a special place in my heart for Misophonia, one of the reigning monarchs of Shamy fanfiction.

Here is what I don't like:

1. The delays in updates. Usually, Misophonia is good at maintaining her pace with this, but she hasn't been so much with this one. (I have heard there is a lot going on in her personal life. So, it's probably not her fault.) I am not really complaining or anything. But a quicker updating schedule would make me so happy. Then again, I guess I would only be happiest if she would just write the whole thing and publish it all at one time.

2. We have stayed in the angst for so much longer than ever before with a Misophonia story. She warned us, but, my God, it has seemed to be forever since Sheldon and Amy exchanged a civil word. I guess this could just as easily be blamed on the long waits between new chapters (and she certainly warned us this would happen), but I just want some happiness, love, and passion. Bring the love, Miso! Of course, anyone who read the latest chapter knows she did just that. Hopefully, it will last.

3. There aren't any sub-plots in this one. In her masterpiece, the Family Reunion Probability Theorem, there were a few sub-plots running parallel to the main plot. I like the complexity of that kind of writing. I think it would help this latest story in that the reader wouldn't feel the angst between the two main characters as hotly as we do. Then again, this could be because of the updating schedule. I really won't know until Misophonia is done and I can go back through and read it all at one time.

4. There's not as much humor in this story as there has been in previous ones. This really isn't a criticism, but more of something I am just pointing out. I would like more humor. Maybe it's coming. I don't know. But one of the things that is great about this author is her ability to weave humor into even the more dire of circumstances.

Here are some questions I have that I hope to have answered before too long:

1. Now that Sheldon has told Amy he loves her, will she believe him?

2. When is the sexy time coming?

3. How can one reconcile Amy and Sheldon without serious therapy?

4. Will the reconciled couple fall back into their old issues or will they be better than before?

5. Is Sheldon ever going to meet Amy's family and how is that going to work? (Please let it happen soon.)

6. Is Sheldon ever going to admit the truth to Kripke? Will Amy make him?

Well, that's what I think. How about everyone else? Do you have a favorite Miso story? What is it? Here are my favorites in order of importance:

1. The Family Reunion Probability Theorem

2. The Osculating Supposition

3. The Love Spell Continuation

4. The Mendacity Revelation

5. The Hickey Endeavor

Sound off, fellow fanfiction fans!

Oh good, I'm always looking for recommendations and I've yet to read any of Misophonia (although I've read Bazingafan, Shepps88 and Jesterkoops mentioned above).

I'll start on the Family Reunion one then as it's top of the list......

Sound off, fellow fanfiction fans!

Wow, Pemberley. You wrote an essay. LOL. Thank you for your heartfelt compliments. I am not sure that I am worthy of such praise, but it is appreciated just the same. I will be glad to answer your questions (in a way.) I usually don't talk plot until I have written everything out, but I will do my best to give you some information.

1. Now that Sheldon has told Amy he loves her, will she believe him?

You will find this out in the next chapter, actually.

2. When is the sexy time coming?

It is coming, but not in the next chapter. Shamy have some work to do before we could realistically get to that point and keep them in character.

3. How can one reconcile Amy and Sheldon without serious therapy?

One chapter at the time, honey. No relationship is without its issues.

4. Will the reconciled couple fall back into their old issues or will they be better than before?

To a degree, they will. However, I can assure you that, by the time I am done, both will have learned some valuable lessons and will have changed some of their behavior. Amy isn't going to be the carpet she has been up to this point, and Sheldon will learn he has to work if he wants to keep her. No more sitting on his laurels for this guy. Moreover, Amy has to be more vocal with Sheldon about what she wants. A man in love will do just about anything for you, but he can't read your mind. You have to tell him sometimes (not nag incessantly, but tell him and wait to see what happens.)

5. Is Sheldon ever going to meet Amy's family and how is that going to work? (Please let it happen soon.)

Actually, this will happen in this story and it will be happening in the next few chapters--hopefully to humorous results.

6. Is Sheldon ever going to admit the truth to Kripke? Will Amy make him?

I could answer this, but it would be better (I think) if you find out through the course of reading the story. :)

Your issues with me:

I apologize profusely for the delays. Life has been kicking my butt lately. I have a lot of change happening right now and I can only write when I physically have time to do it. I am also not the kind of writer to just slap something together and publish just to be able to update. It is the way it is. And, as I have seen writers out there who update even less than me, I would say that's as good as it's gonna get right now. I will be trying to update as least once a week from now on, though. I can promise you that. It just won't always be the same day each week.

Humor has been an important element in this story, but angst has been a bigger one. I think that is why it doesn't seem as funny as the others. But, as you said, I did warn you. Don't worry, the angst will lessen as we go on and the humor will come.

There aren't any sub-plots in this story. I thought the main story of Sheldon and Amy needed to be the only focus. Otherwise, I have a feeling you would be chewing me out for not staying on the main issues enough. (Admit it, you would.) I don't know about you, but it annoys me as a reader to be left hanging on a cliffhanger and then have a new chapter that focuses on something I couldn't care less about. That only leaves me more frustrated than I was to begin with.

Again, thanks for all of the compliments. I am humbled. And let me know if you have further questions about this story or any other I have written. I will do my best to answer them.

This is by far another masterpiece. I love this story so much for many of the reasons you outlined, Pemberly, about the story.  While I sympathize with the delays, I understand how life happens and one thing about Miso, is her stories are such amazingly high quality they are well worth the wait.   I do feel like I am on a starvation diet at times when I wait, but then i feel like I get a lovely feast that leaves me wanting more.  LOL!

I'm dying here.  Been wanting to read her stories for so long, but I'm very close.  You guys should probably start a thread about the family reunion story too so I'll have somewhere to post my praise once I read it.

I already did. It's on here and has been for a while. Believe me, like someone else said on here, it WILL change your life. It is that good.

Since you guys have been so sweet, I offer the following spoiler-like tidbits:

The next chapter title is "Kiss It All Goodbye." I have been listening to a lot of Snow Patrol lately, which is greatly effecting how I am writing things. Also, accoutrements to the chapter will be a large erection and a tattered copy of Pride and Prejudice.

Do with that information what you will.

FYI: I will be uploading Chapter 17 either Friday or Saturday. (Sorry, Stardust. I can't get it edited before then.)

ummm when can I expect an update?

Now. It's up. Sorry. It's a super long chapter. Editing was quite a chore.

Music from Chapter 17:

  • Snow Patrol: "Open Your Eyes," "Chasing Cars," and "Shut Your Eyes"
  • Yaz: "Only You"
  • Mazzy Star: "Halah"
  • Willie Nelson: "Always On My Mind"
  • First Aid Kit: "Blue"

Warning: If you listen to these songs while reading the chapter, you will need more Kleenex than the world can ever produce.

Three Light Spoilers for Chapter 18:

1. I will be posting either tonight or tomorrow.

2. The chapter title is "Crystal Blue Persuasion".

3. There IS a Shamy kiss.

man-opening-door-for-lady-tm.jpg

The following songs were playing on rotation while I wrote this one:

1. "Roar" by Katy Perry

2. "Harvest Moon" by Neil Young

3. "Crystal Blue Persuasion" by Tommy James & the Shondells

4. "Dragging the Line" by Tommy James & the Shondells

5. "Crimson & Clover" by Tommy James & the Shondells

I have a tendency to fixate on one artist most for each chapter. Have you caught on to that yet?
