Week 25 Live + 7, 10 March, 2014 Based on Week 22 ratings. OK, this was the third and final week and also the second full week, for the Olympics. TBBT again ran a repeat, (7.07, The Proton Displacement) and as a result, there are no Live + 7 data for TBBT this week. At the end of the post, I will provide TBBT average numbers for it's Live + 7 and its ratings for that week and see how it did, against shows that included Live + 7 data. In first place in total demo, was Criminal Minds with a 3.8, in second was the Wednesday American Idol with a 3.3 and there was a tie for third between The Following and CSI with a 3.1. In demo lift it was The Following in first with 1.4, second was Criminal Minds with 1.3, and in third was Castle at 1.2. In total viewers, Criminal Minds with with 13.65 million, in second was CSI with 13.62 and in third was Castle with 12.48 million. In terms of lift, there was Castle with 4.73 million, in second was CSI, with 3.85 million and in third was Criminal Minds with 3.59 million. For comparison, during the week shown here (week 21,) the Live + Same Day ratings for TBBT, with the repeat of 7.07, The Proton Displacement, was a 2.6 demo, with 10.16 million viewers. Those same day numbers would have placed it eighth in demo and sixth in viewers, against the Live + 7 ratings. The two weeks ago, the Live + 7 ratings for a new TBBT (against the first night of the Olympics), had a demo lift of 2.8 (to an 8.0) with a 6.49 million viewer lift (to 24.03 Million viewers), that double this weeks highest lift in demo and more than doubled this weeks total demo. For the year, TBBT is averaging a 2.49 demo lift, with a 7.76 total demo. In viewers, TBBT is averaging a 5.56 million lift, while averaging 23.81 million viewers. Tensor Tuesday, March 11, 2014; Weekly Rankings Week 25 Ratings based on Week Twenty-four numbers. For the first time in about a month, there are no special programing to take into account with the top ten broadcast shows. TBBT had a new episode (7.17, The Friendship Turbulence) and for the second week in a row (the first time any entertainment program has done this during the current season.) The top ten in demo follows. Sunday, viewership was down about 14% for the 7-11 PM time period (primetime starts at 7 PM on Sundays). On Monday, it was down 10% for 8-11. It's looking like the 8 PM slot has lost 4-6% of its viewers. If we use last weeks TBBT ratings, we can expect the ratings for this coming Thursday to be around 4.9 (compared to 5.3 this week) and viewers to drop to about 17 million (compared to 18.1 million this week). Last year, it lost, roughly, about a million viewers and a half a ratings point off the yearly average, when Daylight savings time (DST) starts. Using last year's example, we can expect 17 million viewers, as before, but the demo will drop two tenths, to about 4.7. However, last year, DVR viewers increased with the start of DST. With the increase in DVR viewers, the Live + 7 numbers dropped by less, a half a million viewers and only a tenth in demo. IF, and I repeat IF, TBBT increases it's DVR numbers by the same as last year, it could get over a 3.0 in added demo and over 7 million in added viewers. Compare that to the Live + 7 numbers this Monday (two posts up) and see how silly those numbers are. It will be interesting to see what happens. I will get to the Syndicated ratings up tomorrow. Tensor Posted on 11 March, 2014, Syndication for Week 25. Based on week Twenty-four ratings. OK, so I lied, I'm in the middle of doing nothing so I thought I'd get this out today. Judge Judy(JJ) again led housholds this week, while Wheel of Fortune(WF) again lead in viewers. TBBT finished fourth in both measures. In the household rating (we normally look at the 18-49 demo, but in syndication, it's more how many households and total viewers). JJ was first with a 8.0 household rating, and (WF)was second at 7.5. Jeopardy(JY) was third with a 7.2 and TBBT pulled in a 6.6 for fourth. In the ranking for total viewers, WF was again first, scoring 11.82 million viewers, JY barely climbed into second with 11.17 million, JJ dropped to third with 11.12 million and TBBT was in fourth with 10.16 million. The weekend edition (two nights) of TBBT was in sixth place, in both demo at 5.1 and total viewers with 8.32 million viewers and Modern Family was in seventh for both with 7.11 million viewers and a 5.0 demo. If you look at the actual ratings listing, a Saturday morning program called Weekend Adventure is listed in the top five. Due to a quirk of how the syndicated ratings are collected, Saturday kid's shows show up in the evening syndication ratings, although they shouldn't. I generally pull that show out when figuring relative standings. Tensor News and Notes for Week 25, March 13, 2014 As most have heard, TBBT has been renewed for an additional three years. Getting a three year renewal was extremely rare (that it's happened twice for this show is even more amazing). But, why would they give it three years? It can't that much bigger than the other shows out there, can it? Well I was going through the ratings tables and I think I found something. I will be looking the 18-49 demo numbers, for scripted series, no sports or reality series. Besides TBBT, there were ix other series that had demo ratings above a 4.0 this year. Scripted Series: 1) Agents of SHEILD, which had one 4.0 or above, with a premiere of 4.7. It fell, the second week to a 3.3 and the last new episode came in at 1.8. 2) The Following, which also had one 4.0. It premiered at 4.4. It fell, the second week to a 2.0 and hasn't broken two since. 3) The Simpsons, It had a one 4.0, on January 5th, 2014, it pulled in a 4.6. Of course, it directly followed the Green Bay Packer-San Francisco 49er wild card game. The highest rated wild card game of all time, with a 27.7 rating. 4) Modern Family, It has had three ratings above 4.0. The premiere and the second week were 4.2 and the fourth week it had a 4.1. But, it hasn't had a demo rating above a 3.5 since 13 November, 2013. For scripted series, the highest demo rating this year, besides TBBT, was a 4.7, from Agents of SHEILD. The LOWEST rating of any TBBT episode this year was a 4.8. And of the three series that have had one episode above 4.0, there were only five other episodes that broke a 3.0, and the Simpsons had four of those 3.0s. TBBT had two episodes below a 5.0, that 4.8 low, and one at 4.9. All of the other episodes were above a 5.0 with one at 6.1. Average wise, TBBT is at a 5.25 demo average this year, no other scripted series is above a 3.5. with Modern Family at 3.36, almost two full point behind. For reality series, there are only two that have managed to get above a 4.0 this year. 5) American Idol hit a 4.7 on the premiere Wednesday episode, and a 4.0 for the second Wednesday, and haven't broken a 4.0 since. Note that the premiere, at 4.7 was still below the LOWEST TBBT demo. As a matter of fact, recent episodes have been below a 3.0. The last Wednesday episode was only a 2.7 and the last Thursday episode was a 2.2. 6) And now we come to the closest series to TBBT. The Voice opened last fall(it runs twice a season, once in the fall and once in the spring) with a 5.1 on it's premiere on Monday. That is the only demo for an entertainment program that was higher than the lowest TBBT episode. That's right, ONE demo rating for all show, over all the year so far has managed to beat the LOWEST TBBT rated episode (and the week that The Voice scored that 5.1 (over two hours, giving it a better chance to pull in more viewers), TBBT had a 5.5 for the first half hour of the premier, and a 6.1 for the second half hour). The Voice had a Spring Premiere of 4.7 and a second week of 4.5, both on Monday and a 4.1 for the second week on Tuesday. Overall, The Voice has had 14 demo scores above a 4.0, eleven in the Fall, and 3 so far in the Spring. It's Fall average was 3.83 (again, I combined the Monday and Tuesday shows) almost a point and a half below TBBT. EVERY Big Bang episode this year was above a 4.0, that is 17 of them so far. Combined, every other show, over five networks, there are only 23 other 4.0 ratings. Combining the demo with total viewers there are only two shows that are in the top five for both demo and viewers. TBBT is number one in demo (5.25) and number 2 in viewers (18.20 million). NCIS, while it leads in viewers with 19.22 million, is only fifth in demo with a 2.99. To get a quick idea of how far ahead TBBT is, I'll use the non-rigorous way of multiplying the demo by the viewers in millions. In third is third, is The Voice at 46.09. In second is NCIS with a 57.46. And number one, TBBT with 95.73, almost twice of the second and third place shows, combined. And finally, let's look at the average each of those shows that have a 4.0 demo or above for at least one episode. The averages for American Idol and The Voice are based on the combined two nights a week during their runsTBBT 5.26 The Voice 3.83 Modern Family 3.66 American Idol 3.22 Agents of SHEILD 2.61 The Simpsons 2.52 The Following 2.05 Note the large drop between TBBT and the rest. Tensor. Overnights 14 March, 2014 Week 25 For Thursday 13 March broadcasts TBBT ran a new episode last night (7.19, The Mommy Observation. As a note, the show is currently showing shows out of taping order).bringing in a 4.9, with 17.26 million people. The share stayed steady at 17. With this being the first week of Daylight Savings Time, the numbers are a bit higher than I expected, but there may be a reason for that. CBS in some cities in the east and southeast pre-empted at times between 8:00 and 11:00 PM, due to the ACC and SEC basketball tournaments. As a result, adjustments down are expected. TBBT again dominated with that 4.9. Second was Scandal with 2.7 and third was a tie between Two and A Half Men and The Millers with 2.6. The change in time has obviously helped Two and A Half Men. In total viewers, TBBT was number one with 17.26 million viewers. The Millers was second with 11.10 million and Two and A Half Men was third at 10.04 million viewers. Again, adjustments down are expected, due to preemptions for basketball. Due to those adjustments, and the uncertainty involved, I'm going to hold off on the half hour splits and the comparisons until they come in with the finals. As to when that will be, we'll see as I have rehearsal tonight and if the finals come in late, I'll get to the finals post when I get home. Tensor Final Ratings 14 March, 2014 Week 25 For Thursday 13 March broadcasts Ok, first off, I'm sorry this is so late. But I had rehearsal last night and spent today in Orlando at Disney and then saw my daughters show tonight in Orlando. I just got home, and I want to get this out as tomorrow my show has what we call long Sunday. We have to go through all the tech cues (lights, music, sound effects ) and then, after dinner, do our first dress rehearsal. Soince I may not get to it tomorrow, here it is. TBBT ran a new episode on Thursday (7.19, The Mommy Observation. As a note, the show is currently showing shows out of taping order).bringing in a 4.9, with 17.26 17.34 million people. Well, TBBT did not adjust down, which is something of a surprise. The Millers, at 8:30 and Two and A Half Men, at 9:00. both adjusted down two tenths, and almost a half a million viewers. The Crazy Ones, at 9:30 adjusted down a tenth in demo and about 300,000 viewers. Considering that this was the first week of Daylight Savings Time and there were preemptions of the show, the fact that it did not hit a season low is rather astonishing. TBBT again dominated with that 4.9. Second was Scandal with 2.7 and third was a tie between Two and A Half Men and The Millers with 2.6 2.6. The change in time has obviously helped Two and A Half Men. In total viewers, TBBT was number one with 17.26 17.34 million viewers. The Millers was second with 11.10 10.52 million and Two and A Half Men was third at 10.04 9.43 million viewers. Again, adjustments down are due to preemptions for basketball. Due to those adjustments, and the uncertainty involved, I'm going to hold off on the half hour splits and the comparisons until they come in with the finals. Unfortunately, I don't have the final half hour splits, so I won't get to the splits this week. Week 26 Live + 7, 17 March, 2014 Based on Week 23 ratings. The first new post Olympic TBBT ran this week (7.16, The Table Polarization), the other shows were all back also, so the shows with highs this week are back to normal. In first place in total demo, was TBBT with a 7.7 (Just for comparison, last week, with all the repeats the high was a 3.81), in second was the Mondays, The Voice with a 5.8 and in third was and Modern Family with a 5.5. In demo lift it was TBBT in first with 2.7, second was Modern Family with 2.4, and in third was The Blacklist at 1.9. In total demo, only The Voice and Modern Family were able to get above the Live + Same Day rating of TBBT's 5.0. With their 5.8 (The Voice) and 5.5 (Modern Family). The 2.7 lift ties for the series second highest lift ever. In total viewers, TBBT with with 23.38 million, in second was NCIS with 21.40 and in third was Wednesday's The Voice with 18.41 million. In terms of lift, there was The Blacklist with 6.35 million in first, TBBT in second , with 5.66 million and in third was Elementary with 4.94 million. You'll note that TBBT beat NCIS by almost 2 million viewers and for the new show Live + 7 this year, TBBT leads NCIS. When using the C3 (the number of viewers who watch the show AND THE COMMERCIALS, up to three days after the broadcast) and include repeats, NCIS still leads TBBT in total viewers, but is significantly behind in demo (as an example, the Live + Same day average for TBBT demo this year is 5.26. For NCIS, that demo number is 2.99. For this week, TBBT demo lift was three tenths above it's yearly average and it total demo was right at the yearly average. In viewers, TBBT just above it's yearly average in lift, while for total viewers was about 300,000 viewers down. Sunday, viewership was down about 14% for the 7-11 PM time period (primetime starts at 7 PM on Sundays). On Monday, it was down 10% for 8-11. It's looking like the 8 PM slot has lost 4-6% of its viewers. It will be interesting to see what happens. Based on last weeks numbers, and the historical drops after Daylight Savings Time, I predicted a 4.9 demo and 17 million viewers. As you can see, the ratings were a 4.9 demo and 17.34 million viewers. Now, before anyone congratulates me, I did not take into account the preemptions last week. I did not know that here were stations that were carrying several different conference basketball tournaments, instead of TBBT, and that depressed the numbers a bit, getting my prediction pretty close. So, I was a bit lucky. I will get to the Syndicated ratings up tomorrow. Tensor Posted on 18 March, 2014, Syndication for Week 26. Based on week Twenty-five ratings. The syndicated rankings didn't change from last week in both demo and viewers. Judge Judy(JJ) leading in housholds this week, while Wheel of Fortune(WF) leading in viewers. TBBT finished fourth in both measures. In the household rating (we normally look at the 18-49 demo, but in syndication, it's more how many households and total viewers). JJ was first with a 7.8 household rating, and (WF)was second at 7.3. Jeopardy(JY) was third with a 7.1 and TBBT pulled in a 6.4 for fourth. In the ranking for total viewers, WF was first with 11.63 million viewers, JY was second with 11.02 million, JJ dropped to third with 10.82 million and TBBT was in fourth with 10.11 million. The weekend edition (two nights) of TBBT was in sixth place, in both demo at 5.0 and total viewers with 7.99 million viewers and Modern Family was in seventh for both with 7.05 million viewers and a 4.6 demo. Tensor News and Notes for Week 26, March 19, 2014 I am currently working on a post (more than likely several), comparing the 2003-2004 TV season with the 2011-2012 and 203-2014 seasons(those seasons will make my points clearer. As I'm having to look up a lot of numbers by show, by year and add to this that this is our last week of rehearsal, (our play opens Thursday night) I am not ready to post it. Fortunately for me, Ed over at Spotted Ratings (a website I can't recommend highly enough) started, on Monday March 17th, a series on the 18-34 demo . Many readers of my ratings post will recognize that I report the 18-49 demo. While the advertising dollars correlate quite well with the 18-49 demo, this series of posts, by Ed, will lay out the argument that a combination of 18-49 and 18-34 correlates even better with the ad dollars. It's a great entry to and explanation of why exactly advertisers chase the different demo and why a show with many viewers, may get cancelled or why a show with a lower number of viewers gets renewed. Even why a show tied with another in the 18-49 demo is renewed while the other is cancelled. As each post is put up, I will link to it from here. I want to thank Ed for his generous permission to link to his site and his posts on this subject. Tensor News and Notes for Week 26, part 2. March 21, 2014 On Wednesday night, I linked to the site Spotted Ratings for part one on a series of posts looking at the 18-34 demo.. Well, yesterday, he put up the second part . This one looks at individual shows. Ed uses the labels 34/49, 18-49+, and 18-34+.The 34/49 label is the percentage of the 18-34 demo, to the 18-49 demo. For instance, if 18-34 is 7.1 and the 18-49 is 10.0, then the 34/49 would be 71%. I used those particular numbers for a reason. Analysis of the data, by Ed, indicates that the average show's 18-34 rating is 71% of it's 18-49 rating. Of course, there are shows that are above and below that number and Ed looks at those that are way over or under. The 18-49+ and 18-34+ are numbers that compare each show with the average of the current year. The average show is normalized out to equal 100, then the various shows data is compared and calculated and each show gets a number for how it's doing that year. Ed has a scale, indicating the different levels a show's number means. The 18-49+ can be used to compare shows across years as viewing has declined. The 18-34+ was introduced in the first post. The highest 18-49+ rating Ed has found, for a comedy, was the last year of Friends, which had a 300. Last year, TBBT had a 249, for the second highest. I'l let you all discover the numbers for TBBT and compare them with the other shows, for this year, on your own in the article. It should be quite obvious why TBBT got a three year renewal.Again, thanks go to Spotted Ratings and Ed for doing the post and allowing me to link to it.Tensor. Judge Judy(JJ) leading in housholds this week, while Wheel of Fortune(WF) leading in viewers. TBBT finished fourth in both measures. In the household rating (we normally look at the 18-49 demo, but in syndication, it's more how many households and total viewers). JJ was first with a 7.1 household rating, and (WF)was second at 6.9. Jeopardy(JY) was third with a 6.9 and TBBT pulled in a 6.0 for fourth. In the ranking for total viewers, WF was first with 10.72 million viewers, JY was second with 10.14 million, JJ dropped to third with 9.74 million and TBBT was in fourth with 9.11 million. The weekend edition (two nights) of TBBT was in sixth place, in both demo at 4.8 and total viewers with 7.36 million viewers and Modern Family was in seventh for both with 6.52 million viewers and a 4.3 demo. Tensor News and Notes for Week 27. March 24, 2014 The final part of the 18-34 demo post's is up at Spotted Ratings . Ed looks at combining his 18-49 True rating with the 18-34 True rating and how this may explain why some marginally rated shows get renewed. Since the main purpose of this type of look is to understand why marginal shows may get renewed and, since TBBT is no where near a marginal show, this type of look wouldn't normally include TBBT. However a question by a reader of the post asked for a comparison between How I Met Your Mother and TBBT. As a result, we have a a look at the ratings of TBBT in this calculated numbers. For instance, TBBT has a "raw" number score of 5.26 in the 18-49 demo. This is the number reported by Nielsen. At Spotted Ratings, Ed uses some calculation and includes the strength of a show's lead-in, strength of the other shows airing at the same time, number of people watching for a given time, etc. In this, TBBT has what Ed calls a "True" score of 5.46, in TBBT's case, this is higher than it's raw score. It's total score of the combination 18-49 demo and 18-34 demos is 9.11. That means that TBBT 18-34 True number is 3.65. In the article Ed give the 18-34/18-49 combined True scores for 51 different shows. TBBT 18-34 True score is higher than the combined 18-49/18-34 of all 51 of those shows, in the post. Again, giving an idea of just how big TBBT is. Again, I recommend you visit Spotted Ratings. Ed does an outstanding job with the alternate ways of looking at the ratings and explaining it. I again want to thank him for graciously allowing me to summarize and link to his explanations. Tensor News and Notes #2, 26 March, 2014 For basic cable TBS is the number one network in the 18-49 demo and in total viewers for the first quarter to date. It won the demo and total viewers last year and continues strong with TBBT as the number one off net basic cable series in both demo and total viewers. In regard to the first week of the NCAA Basketball Tournament, the ratings were terrible. Thursday, it was a 1.0, with 3.79 million viewers. But that's not really important. CBS has to televise those games to get the much higher rated games this coming Thur-Sun. This past Sunday, the games were hitting a 4.0 demo and will probably be in the 8.0 range by Sunday. The important ones are next week with the two semi-final games on Saturday and the Championship game Monday night. Add to the fact that there are only 24 episodes to put into 36 weeks, those two weeks could have been repeats anyway. So it be it does CBS (and the show's ratings) good to not televise during those two weeks while CBS builds toward the championship. For comparison, TBBT averages a 5.24 demo with 18.16 million viewers. Reruns at 8 PM on Thursday, for TBBT are averaging a 2.8 demo with 11.51 million viewers. Week 28 Live + 7, 31 March, 2014 Based on Week 25 ratings. An alert here. There are some possible questions about the Live + 7 numbers this week. If there are changes, I'll make them when I see them. When looking at the numbers remember that viewing was generally down this week overall. TBBT had a new episode, (7.19, The Mommy Observation). In first place in total demo, was TBBT with a 7.5, in second was the Modern Family with a 5.4 and in third was Monday's Resurrection with a 4.6. In demo lift it was TBBT in first with 2.6, There was a tie for second with Modern Family and The Blacklist at 1.9. In total demo, Modern Family was the only show whose Live + 7 demo rating beat the Same Day rating of TBBT's 4.9. In total viewers, TBBT with with 22.90 million, in second was Resurrection with 15.53 and in third was Wednesday's Blue Bloods with 15.09 million. In terms of lift, there was TBBT with 5.56 million in first, Elementary in second , with 4.36 million and in third was Modern Family with 4.31 million. For this week, TBBT demo lift was up one tenths above it's yearly average and it total demo was right at it's yearly average. In viewers, TBBT was within 10,000 viewers of its yearly average in lift, while total viewers was down by almost 800,000 viewers. Before you all panic, it's interesting to note that last year, on essentially the same date (13 March:14 March), TBBT had one of it's two episodes below 20 million viewers in Live + 7, after the first of the year. Also, remember that last year, TBBT was averaging ~21 million viewers at this point last year, this year it's averaging 23.73 million. This is up almost three million from last year. In demo the average up over a half a point (7.75 to 7.23). This is almost unheard of for a show in it's seventh year. Tensor Posted on 16 April, 2014, Syndication for Week 30. Based on week Twenty-nine ratings. The syndicated rankings were pretty much back to normal, with TBBT coming in fourth in both households and viewers. Wheel of Fortune(WF) and Judge Judy(JJ)tied for the lead in households and WF led in viewers. In the household rating (we normally look at the 18-49 demo, but in syndication, it's more how many households and total viewers). WF and JJ both can in with a 7.2 household rating. Jeopardy(JY) inched up to third with a 6.7 and TBBT was in forth with a 6.0. In the ranking for total viewers, WF was first with 10.61 million viewers, JY moved up to second at 10.44 million with JJ in third with 9.91 million, TBBT dropped to fourth with 9.12 million. The weekend edition (two nights) of TBBT was in eighth in households at 4.1, but sixth in viewers at 6.46 million. In seventh in households was Modern Family with a 4.3 and with 6.06 million viewers, it was in eighth place. Again, a reminder for the ratings contest, details can be found Tensor News and Notes for Week 30. April 17, 2014 CBS put out an interesting press release today. It is showing the demo ratings and viewers for the year for the top ten comedies. For those who have been following the ratings posts, the numbers may seem high. But, remember that there are several different measure. Live + Same Day is what we usually see for the next day ratings. The other measure we usually see is the Live + 7, which measures how many DVR viewers watch the show in the week after it is broadcast. The numbers in the press release are more than the Same Day ratings, but are less than the Live + 7 that we've seen for the year. One we usually don't see is the Live + 3, the same day plus the number of viewers on DVR for the first three days after it is broadcast. The reason this isn't usually seen is that the ad rates for commercials come from that (it's a bit more complicated than that, as the ad rate is based on the number of three day DVR viewers that watch the commercials), but Live + 3 gives us an idea. It also gives us an idea of how much broadcast viewing has dropped in the last ten years, as the Live + 3 is basically what Nielsen reports, as what now would be Live + Same Day was what was used ten years ago. Here are the top 5 comedy programs through April 13th in terms of demo, which is the important number in ratings now. THE BIG BANG THEORY 6.3 Modern Family 4.5 HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER 4.2 2 BROKE GIRLS 3.2 Family Guy 3.1 Here is the top ten comedy shows in viewers this year. THE BIG BANG THEORY 20.13m Modern Family 11.97m THE MILLERS 11.51m TWO AND A HALF MEN 10.57m HOW I MET YOUR M OTHER 10.28m For fun, here are the top five comedy shows, in viewers for 2004 (the number preceding the name is the rank overall): 4. Friends 22.8 million 10. Everybody Loves Raymond 17.3 15. Two and a Half Men 15.3 16. Will and Grace 15.2 28. Still Standing 11.8 This year, the top five comedies have a total viewership of 64.46 million. The top five comedies in 2003-04 had 82.4 million. Note that the second place comedy this year (Modern Fmaily) would only have been the fifth place comedy in 2003-04. With a lower number of viewers, it's more difficult to get to the 20 million mark. TBBT is poised to become the first comedy since Friends, to crack an average of 20 million, per episode, for a season, as reported by Nielsen. The closest comedy show to getting to 20 million between Friends and TBBT was Everybody Loves Raymond, in 2004, the show that led out from Friends (as a note, last year TBBT averaged over 17.5 million. Friends, in 2004, was 27.6% of the top five viewers. Note that this year, TBBT will be over 31.3% of the top five viewers. TBBT's numbers were a down a bit over the yearly average, two tenths in total demo, equal in lift, down almost 2 million in total viewers and 200,000 in lift. Wheel of Fortune(WF) was in second with a 6.6, Jeopardy(JY) in third with 6.4 and TBBT was in forth with a 5.8. In the ranking for total viewers, WF was first with 10.39 million viewers, JY was second at 10.06 million, JJ was in third with 9.75 million, TBBT finished fourth with 8.86 million. The weekend edition (two nights) of TBBT climbed to eighth place, in households with a 4.1, behind Modern Family in seventh at 4.2. In viewers, it finished seventh with 6.32 million, ahead of eighth place Modern Family at 6.17 million. Tensor Overnights 2 May, 2014 Week 32 For Thursday 1 May broadcasts TBBT had a new episode last night. 7.17, The Proton Transmogrification In first place, was TBBT with 4.4. The Millers was second with 9.58 million and Two and A Half Men was third at 9.16 million viewers. While the demo for TBBT was tied for a season low, Total viewers was not. I'll call the adjustment up one tenths and 400,000 viewers.TBBT was the only show to break 10 million viewers and a 3.0 demo. For those that remember back a couple of years ago when there a a big battle between TBBT and American Idol, with TBBT becoming the first scripted show to be it. Well,American Idol is no longer against TBBT, but it's ratings have continued to drop. Last night, it pulled in a 1.5 I'll put up the half hour splits when I get to the final ratings when they are put up later. In terms of lift, first was Person of Interest with 4.38 million, Scandal was in second , with 3.83 million and in third was Grey's Anatomy with 3.75 million. As a comparison, I was going to use TBBT's average numbers for the year, However, since the above numbers are from after the start of Daylight Savings Time, I'll use the averages for TBBT, after DST. For total demo, TBBT is averaging 7.3, with a 2.5 demo lift. For total viewers` 22.59 million and a lift of 5.41 million. As you can see, quite a bit above the highs for other shows, when TBBT doesn't have a new show running. Tensor Finals 4 May, 2014 Week 33 For Thursday 3 May broadcasts I'm sorry this was so late, I've been busy working on the house as a result, I'm just putting up the finals. TBBT had a new episode on Thursday. 7.23, The Gorilla Dissolution I want to point out that this has been a very brutal week for television viewing. Only one other show was higher than a 3.0 (The Voice at 3.0) and even NCIS, was the leader in viewers with only 15 million (it's averaging over 19 million viewers). On top of that, the NFL draft's opening night was on Thursday, and (this may sound weird)historically a show that pulls very heavily from TBBT in the 18-49 demo. (it pulled a 4.6, ON CABLE). With all this in mind here are the numbers for Thursday: In first place, was TBBT with 3.8, a season low and the first time it's demo has been under a 4.0, since May of 2011. Second was Grey's Anatomy with a 2.5, and third was Two and A Half Men with a 2.1 In total viewers, TBBT was number one with 14.42 million (there was a 14.23 million in September of 2012). The Millers was second with 8.96 million and Two and A Half Men was third at 8.35 million viewers. Note that no other series broke 9 million viewers on Thursday and only two others broke 2.0 in demo. Quick overnights for week 34. I'm on an interstate, in the middle of South Carolina, so can't do a full post yet. However want to get this out, TBBT scored a 4.8 demo with 16.29 million viewers. This was the most watched finale ever. For the night, it was over 2 points higher in demo than the second place show, and was the only show to break 10 million viewers. I expect the demo to go up two tenths and 400,000 viewers. More when I arrive tonight. Tensor Posted on 15 May, 2014, Syndication for Week 34. Based on week Thirty-Three ratings. Tensor Finals 16 May, 2014 Week 34 For Thursday 15 May broadcasts OK, I'm at my destination, I've eaten, relaxed a bit, time for the ratings finals.TBBT had the final new episode on Thursday. 7.24, The Status Quo Combustion., here are the numbers for Thursday: In first place, was TBBT with 4.9, this was a full point above what the show got last week. Second was Grey's Anatomy(9 PM) with a 2.6, and third was The Millers with a 2.3 In total viewers, TBBT was number one with 16.73 million. The Millers was second with 9.78 million and Grey's Anatomy(9 PM) was third at 8.92 million viewers. Note that no other series broke 10 million viewers and in demo TBBT was more than two full points ahead of second place (4.9-2.6). Instead of the two tenths demo increase I predicted, it was only one tenth. But, there was 450,000 more viewers, a bit higher than the 400,000 I predicted. As for splits, at 8 PM There was a new Hell's Kitchen (1 Hour), a repeat of Grey's Anatomy(1 hour), the season finale of The Vampire Diaries (1 hour) and a new Hollywood Game Night. (1 hour). Interestingly, it wasn't just last week. This week as far as demos was just as bad. Again, the only series, other than TBBT to break a 3.0 was the Monday edition of The Voice, and again, it was right at 3.0. This means that TBBT was one-tenth away from being a full two points higher than anything during the rest of the WEEK, not just the night. And it wasn't only demos, at 8 PM on Thursday there were 29.5 million viewers, last week there were 26 million, but TBBT had over 2 million more viewers than last week, meaning the other four shows picked up only about 400,000 more veiwers each.I will announce the winner of the ratings contest on Tuesday. In the ranking for total viewers, WF was first with 9.89 million viewers, JJ was second at 9.09 million, JY was in third with 9.77 million, TBBT finished fourth with 8.92 million. The weekend edition (two nights) of TBBT was in sixth place, in households with a 4.5, and viewers with 6.71 million. The weekday edition of Modern Family at 6.03 million and 4.1 in households was in seventh in both. Tensor News and Notes for Week 35. 22 May, 2014. Sunday Night Football finished behind both TBBT and NCIS. With that in mind, TBBT was number one in all categories for non-sports programming, EXCEPT for the Live + Same Day, which was taken by NCIS. It's interesting that TBBT's Live + Same Day demo is higher than all the other shows official numbers, and is better than all but Modern Family in Live + 7. TBBT's Live + Same Day is higher than all other show's total viewers official numbers (except for NCIS) and all other show's Live + 7 (except for both NCIS and NCIS:LA.
