But it's NOT too subjective to say it's funnier that ever based on YOUR personal preference? Do you even understand what subjective means? Do you understand what opinions are?

I couldn't care less if 99% of people out here think it's funnier or how many Emmys it gets. I don't think it's as funny or unique as it was. That's my opinion. Why can't you just let that go? Geez!

Then stop watching it. You aren't required to subject yourself to something you no longer like. Why can't you just go back to your season 1-3 DVDs? Geez!

I love logging in again and finding out I'm popular. Thanks for all the likes, peeps. I feel the love, I really do.

Anyone else have to Google what polemic means? I did.

To Koops: Okay, some of your points got me, because I do agree that there are some moments when Sheldon displays quite a bit of self-awareness. Such as 43 least season, where he points out to Raj and Howard that, in case they haven't noticed, he has a lot of problems with normal, everyday, human social behavior that most people take for granted.

I also find it fascinating that you point out it's positive human emotions which Sheldon seems to repeatedly deny rather than negative ones. Very interesting.

I do think that a lot of time Sheldon might know how he feels but he refuses to admit it. I think in this episode we see Sheldon snap right into saying he's angry when Amy gives him permission to say it, indicating he knew how he felt under the surface. Her giving him permission to express it is what made all the difference.

However, at other times, I think there's a murky point at being in denial at an internal level and an external level - sometimes I do think Sheldon is fooling himself too, other times I think he's putting on a front but he knows the truth. Nevertheless, the show does a good job at often playing that close to the vest, so that the audience has to debate the issue. Such as the Snow White moment from last season - was Sheldon ignoring her because he had no interest in kissing Amy, or was he concentrating on that computer with suspicious concentration and not even looking at her that implies something more than it seemed?

And....argue that one ad nauseum until the cows come home.

----------------

I was totally going to write more than this, but I'm so hopped up on NyQuil I think I better stop.

Where am I?

.....GO SPORTS!.....

There's no party like a Koothraparty! WOOT WOOT.

(faints)

The fact that Sheldon is inconsistent could be explained by the following science news from 2012...

"Empathy Represses Analytic Thought, and Vice Versa: Brain Physiology Limits Simultaneous Use of Both Networks"

see http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2012/10/121030161416.htm

At rest, our brains cycle between the social and analytical networks. But when presented with a task, healthy adults engage the appropriate neural pathway, the researchers found.

The study shows for the first time that we have a built-in neural constraint on our ability to be both empathetic and analytic at the same time

The work suggests that established theories about two competing networks within the brain must be revised. More, it provides insights into the operation of a healthy mind versus those of the mentally ill or developmentally disabled.

"This is the cognitive structure we've evolved," said Anthony Jack, an assistant professor of cognitive science at Case Western Reserve and lead author of the new study. "Empathetic and analytic thinking are, at least to some extent, mutually exclusive in the brain."

The research is published in the current online issue of NeuroImage.

This might suggest that when Sheldon is/has been engaged in heavy analytical processing he is at a low point in his ability to have any empathy. Perhaps that also extents to understanding of his own emotions.

BINGO!! There it is!! I knew that was coming. If you don't like the show as much as the 99% of posters out here then just go away.

If you had read some of my previous posts you would see that I've said that I DO still like the show, but it's not as good as it used to be IMO. I rated the first three episodes of this season as Very Good. But apparently we're not allowed to offer ANY criticism without people trying to change one's personal preferences. I said I didn't like episode 4 and was met with demands to provide "evidence" of why I dared to disagree with the rest of the posters out here. The Protectors of the Show need to lighten up.

Bernadette needs to go on a field trip or something, so Howard can have his freedom back. For now, he is kind of tamed.

Well, she did that, in the first episode of this season, 3 episodes ago, so....

And Howard had the estrogen cream incident , and subsequesnt boob touching with Raj which was hilarious.....

I must say that I completely agree with you. Whether I share your opinion on each particular episode or not is irrelevant. We have to feel free enough in this forum to be able to voice our opinions whether they are good ones or bad ones, and I for one do not like the bullying by majority rule, because it is not right. the only real problem I have is when someone states their opinion as fact, but besides that taste is a personal thing, and while it most certainly can have a rational component it doesn't necessarily have to.

I think that the reason this "why are you still watching/posting/griping" issue comes up again and again is that one wonders why some people seem to watch the show only as a reason to be able to complain about it.  "It's not as good as it used to be", etc., etc., is almost a badge of honor among some people--like it's somehow a sign of intellectual superiority to find fault with every episode, or most aspects of an episode.

Since most people who come to message boards come to talk about a show they like, one wonders why some people would spend so much juice simply complaining about the show.  I know there are plenty of people out there on the internet who have nothing but bad things to say about the show (and one wonders, again, why they bother), and I don't think that everyone on the planet has to love this show, but if I no longer like a show, I stop watching it, and I certainly don't go onto message boards to talk about how much I no longer like it.

So, while some people seem determined to dislike pretty much every episode--or at least, seemingly, to only talk about how much they dislike various things--it constantly begs the question of why they watch a show they can't seem to find anything positive about.  Or maybe they just can't bring themselves to say anything positive because they're determined to dislike the current seasons.

As for people being asked to "provide evidence", I think that it's understandable to want to know why someone finds fault with an episode when most people like it.  I mean, we all for opinions for a reason, they don't just hatch in our heads against our will.

Was it the writing, the acting, the costumes, the way someone's hair was combed?  The lack of this or too much of that?

We could all say, "I loved it" or "I hated it" and then not elaborate further--how boring would that be?

But whatever.  djvang is certainly free to torture himself by watching a show he no longer really enjoys.  And he can keep saying it over and over and over.  Who gives a frickety-frack anymore?

Yet you reply, and try and change others personal opinions, when they offer criticism of your opinion. Do as I say, not as I do? And do you really expect to be as critical as you are, on a site populated by a majority who like and will defend the show, without any kind of response to your comments? By all means, have your say, but to expect that no one is going to reply to defend the show or disagree with your comments seems a bit naive.

Probably only anyone motivated to write 5 paragraphs about it.........

I'm not concerned with his opinion.  Just addressing why the question comes up repeatedly.  I don't care whether or not he likes the show or the episodes.  But there's a reason why people wonder why he bothers--and not just him, really.  Anyone who sings that same song.

Yay! The horse is being beaten to death while people nail themselves up on the cross!

Maple Weaf, get me the popcorn and 3D-glasses. We are in for a show tonight!

I always try to remember it a show and a comedy at that. It isn't intended to be deep or philosophical....it's Thursay night brainless escapism. Some episodes and scenes will have you going blue with laughter, others will just go right past you........but it's there to enjoy if you like the humour. And all said and done it's a well written and acted hoot.

OMG, again the old discussion about people liking how the program is going on and the people who doesn´t likes its developement...

Well, I was engaged in all this in the past and I would like to say here that even I was complaining last year about the episodes and changes in season 6 (still I think the same!) I didn´t stop to watch it because it is my favourite program and I was complaining because I was feeling sad about how it changed so much and was not so funny as I was expecting BUT I AM LOVING THIS NEW SEASON and I am liking very much the new episodes. I am so happy with the program this season, in my case you can see that "to stop watching" was not the clue. Last year I kept myself watching season 1, 2, 3 and 4 (yes, I like this too) and complaining here about season 6 (because this is the place for that and I was watching season 6 episodes expecting they will make the next one good, again and again, some I liked, some I really not) but now I think seven season will be in my good list too :) Keep it up!!

The only one still I don´t like and I will say it in LOUD VOICE is: Bernadette! OMG even I feel she is not acting in a good/natural way. I know guys that probably you know her (as an actress) better than me and you will say she is good, etc but when I see she and Simon playing roles together I see a BIG difference between them! It is like Simon is alone in scene, I feel sad that they put this...ah...."goofy"? bad? actress next to him, a fantastic comedian. He deserve a much better one. Be free Howard!! :D

Regarding this episode: aaaarrrgh...they spoiled Indiana Jones for me (my Childhood hero!) :hysteric:

But ok, this episode was hilarius :) :) :)

I'm still not getting how that ruins Indiana Jones? The movie is about Indie's quest to find the Ark, which he did, and surviving all of the attempts on his life by Nazis, swordsmen, and snakes, which he also did.

I guess it's because Indy's supposed to be the hero who finds and saves the Ark, like if he didn't intervene, the Hitler would have the Ark and supposedly have some kind of supernatural power over his enemies.

But if Indy hadn't gotten involved, the Nazi's would still have tracked down Marian, found her medallion, found the Ark, opened it and been destroyed.

I do think that if he hadn't been involved, the Ark might have been left on that island or wherever, so even though he didn't get it to the museum, as Leonard pointed out, he did get it to America.

However, how did he and Marian get it off the island?!?!?  Could they have carried it by themselves?  And then what about the sub?  Were there no Nazis left aboard to guard the sub?  Even there weren't, how did Indy and Marian pilot it all by themselves?

Did anyone notice that Sheldon's apartment flag was upside down in this episode? Any valid reason, or is it a blunder? (This is during Amy's explaination why Indiana Jones plays no role in Raiders, near the refrigerator @1:30)  post-10416-0-15284100-1382109088_thumb.p

It was upside down in the next episode too. I wonder what's up with that. I'm going to go check the previous ones and see.

I'm not sure whether it's been like this since the day Leonard performed the rocket fuel experiment. 80

Amy's critque of Raiders was amusing and she had a point - Indy lost out to Belloq at the start of the movie and kept loosing out to him right up until the ending - the only thing that saved him and Marion from being vaporized along with every one else by the ark was closing his eyes - which I always found amusing - was that really what saved him or could the ark tell who the who the bad guys were - would Indy have been vaporized if he had been the one to open the ark? - I don't think he would have - I liked the guys rewatching Raiders again to see if they could find a flaw in Amy's argument but couldn't - they could have mentioned that Marion would have been killed by the nazis if not for Indy, so that made him a hero, even if he kept bungling recovering the ark.

Exactly, so why didn't he know this? I knew it! Sheldon has extreme cult film and television obsessions. They all do and I usually learn something, whenever the guys have one of their arguments but this was dead obvious. Also, I have seen loads of people on other sites come up with other arguments to refute her 'revelation' so why couldn't Sheldon? It's completely out of character. He's just getting dumber.

I rated the first three episodes of the season as Very Good. But apparently that's not good enough for the majority.

I'm not trying to change anyone's opinions. I simply state my opinion of each episode. And I stated before, I rated the first three episodes as Very Good. But anything short of glowing adoration of every second of every show is attacked as heresy.
