I find it interesting that this episode apparently sucked so bad that the Lollypop Guild didn't even bother to create a thread for it. :diablo:

It's just that over there, I don't think there are people hating on Sheldon because Leonard wouldn't take off the sweater.  Here it goes round and round because the episode discussions always devolve into people pitting the characters against each other, etc.

Over there, they've already moved on to preparing for this week's episode.

but there is a thread for it...

Right now I see 7.09 and 7.07. There is no 7.08 at the top where the new episodes usually are.

Perhaps you could point me to it?

Edit: OK found it, they "forgot" to top it, its on page 2. A lot more negative Nancy's there than usual. Hmmm.

I don't think they forgot to top it. I think that as soon as there's a new episode at the top, the previous on is no longer topped and as people stop posting in it, it can quickly fall to the second page as all the other threads are posted in.

I hope Leonard remembers that revenge is a dish best served cold.  What an ass Sheldon was, and he was mean on purpose, there was no excuse this time, he knew he was being mean.  I hope we get a good future revenge episode.

it looked to me that this was already a 'revenge served cold'. Leonard made a mistake, and Sheldon had his revenge after 7 years. We all know that Sheldon wouldn't forget, not even after 7 years :p

I actually liked it. Yes, it was mean and yes, Sheldon was fully aware of it, but that's the point in revenge.

Despite from bringing back Lucy who I also cannot stand (good thing she didn't do much), this episode was far more funny than the previous Proton episode for which we even had to wait for 2 weeks.

But there was nothing that Sheldon had to be vengeful about. leonard didn't forget to return the DVD on purpose, he just forgot. And the fact that Sheldon knew and was mean on purpose is what bothers me. Sheldon has always been an ass, but what made him likable was that he was clueless about being mean. In this episode he's just being a regular d*ck. Sheldon used to like Leonard in previous episodes, not to mention seasons.

I have reconsidered and now I think the message was "Kids, this is what 'revenge served cold' looks like. And if you do it, you will appear to be a bad person". And that's the teachable moment. Sheldon lived out his fantasy about revenge and there was a price.

Also, what might Penny and Leonard be going to think of him now. More, or less? It's part of the slow severance of the boys' connecting tissue, perhaps. Leonard articulated that he needs Sheldon in some way in the Proton ep. Now this, and with tenure still unresolved, maybe it is a foreshadowing of him recalibrating.

Plus all the Itchy Brain stuff... :)

No, it was Sheldon being a mean , inconsiderate, petty, cruel prick. It does go a little bit beyond Sheldon being Sheldon

The point was Sheldon was trying to show Leonard how he feels on a day to day basis. It just wasn't funny. None of us like to see these characters humiliated to this level.

As I posted earlier , it would have been a lot better and funnier if in the ending Leonard might actually come to understand something about how it feels to be trapped in Sheldon's mind... ... but instead they went for more of a practical joke kind of thing...with the punch line being Amy's sexual misery...

This really felt like a filler episode between the whole sheldon discovery episodes. And in the scheme of things it was pointless and dragged out. It should have ended the first time the jumper came off. But they dragged it out even more. Just to see what it's like to be sheldon as a punishment, Sheldon going crazy would have achieved, what the whole episode failed to, in 10 mins.

A black dot in an otherwise fantastic season so far.

It's still a thousand times better than "The Speckerman Recurrence," the only TBBT episode that I have not watched again (and have no wish to see again).

I think is would have been more funny if Sheldon had finally got a clue of how much Leonard and the others finally suffer at the hand of him (Sheldon).

Instead we got a mean-spirited Sheldon that only cares about himself!!!!

How would that make it funnier?  All that sounds like is a way to make poor sad Leonard feel better.

And then they could all sing Kum Ba Yah.

No, it is NOT about singing Kum Ba Yah, but it is about not destroying a character that has been acceptably well written up to this point. Sheldon CAN be Sheldon, of course, which to my knowledge hadn't been being a mean calculating prick up to this point.
