How Do You Feel About Amy's Character Development?

Hey guys, I'm new. Quite honestly, this question is the main thing that motivated me to make this account.

So...

I like Amy a lot, even now, but I liked her so much more in the beginning. When she was still robotic like Sheldon, it made the Shamy scenes more intense and adorable because they were both so hesitant and lost about their feelings. Now she's just way too emotional and sexual (in other words - HUMAN), and she's constantly chasing after Sheldon. I feel like it would've been so much cuter if BOTH of them were still robotic, and the writers simply made Amy more verbally expressive of her feelings.

Any thoughts?

Well storyline wise they would of hit a wall with robotic Amy, Sheldon wasent going to progress all move an inch, so they had to make Amy the responsible one in that regard. And the reason she was robotic because she never had those experiences growing up, so diddnt know how to converse with anyone, so she was kinda emotionally stunted, and compared to Sheldon she has had more experience in social convention, so your seeing it coming through the surface now. I would agree with you if this was posted last season, but this season theirs more of a balance in their relationship, and Amy is less compromising her self for the sake of progress, and showing a back bone. Sheldons actually the one who is now chasing Amy.

"The Zazzy Substitution" kind of showed something had to change or shamy was finished. Mary Cooper's intervention bought them some time. Amy has new experience in the form of a slumber party and hidden Amy emerges. It took Amy a while to figure things out but She is forging ahead now.

Well done I would say.

I can't choose between Amy from the beginning and Amy now. I feel like the character has been growing up all these years and actually that is why Amy was introduced to the show. She changed and she is going to help Sheldon grow up. There was a time during the late 6th season when she would put up with anything but still I think that this was part of the character. When she first came she was like Sheldon emotionless and robotic but then she became part of a group and she started learning how it feels to have friends and how to behave. Of course she wasn't very good at that from the beginning :-p but she learned and she got better. Especially with Sheldon she needed some time to manage to be herself and manage a romantic relationship but as it seems now on s7 she is back to being dynamic and independent and being involved in a relationship. I think it had to happen and I like grown Amy as much as I liked 'old' Amy.

I do like the new Amy more. She is not so restricted in friendships and relationships than her first date with Sheldon where everybody was like 'wut?'. Or as Howard said, "Good God, what have we done?". Upon meeting Penny, she has learnt how to be independent and looks up to her as a big sister. Though Amy's robotic responses baffled and rib-tickled a few in her 1st episode, character development has to happen for a show to keep their fans entertained. She is now aiming big to finally have coitus with Sheldon, which she ruled out in 'The Lunar Exciation'. I would not be surprised if the crew behind the show (Chuck, Bill, Mark, Steven) embarked on a mini-project called Project Amy!!!

To be honest I liked it when she was more robotic, she is still one of my favourite characters. Her mind/ personality is less 'robotic' with the influence of Penny which I don't mind. But she could at least still talk like she used to, her speech has completely changed. But im not going to stop loving her quirks ::)
