Testing, testing…*taps mike* (mike rounds on Wally furiously)

Spaced was having trouble posting images, so this is a test of the emergency cartoonified piffle service. In three, two, one…

When Sheldon taught Penny physics.

When Sheldon got Penny hooked on Age of Conan.

When they optimised the manufacture of Penny Blossoms.

More here... 23 Times Big Bang's Odd Couple Stole the Show

Well that seems to work. Here, in which case, is a completely arbitrary film. WARNING for thespian/droid cursing.

Are we sure it's not a failure of the mouse-keyboard interconnect?

Cheers Chiany!

Your name always reminds me of Chianti, which is probably a sign I need to contemplate some sort of restorative stay in the Swiss Alps.

I tried to match TBBT characters to wine types the other day and settled vaguely on;

Pinot Noir or Sangiovese - Sheldon (inky, dark and difficult with subtle complexity OR strange varietal of conflicting nuances)
Merlot - Penny (warm, rounded, friendly and easy to drink too damn much of. Particularly when it’s on tap at book launches. Not that Penny is.)
Malbec - Leonard (earthy, heavy, grounded)
Spatlese Lexia - Howard (ridiculous fruity monstrosity with tropical overtones. Available in 4 Litre casks)
Champagne - Raj (Classy and trashy simultaneously)

I’m not so familiar with the others‘ natures, but I’ll take a stab;
Rose - Bernadette (deceptively pretty but gives you a blinding headache)
Mead - Amy (medieval inclinations)
Wine in a can - Stuart (Bleak and terrifying)
Sangria - Zack (unwise on a number of levels, but still charming)
Wodka - Kwipke (just to be a pain in the arse)

I love Stuart by the way. Wine in a can, not so much.

I may make a shonky chart out of this when I'm next idle. Whilst my literary ambitions stare at me in disbelief...

Greetings!

When we're not busy stocking the shelves of our imaginary shop with baby griffins and sonic death rays and Secret Agent Laser Obstacle Chess Sets (lunch sold separately), we are resolutely conquering (read: trying to figure out) the ever expanding borders of social media.

To that end we have tentatively stuck our foot into the waters of Instagram.

https://instagram.com/bigbangtheoryhq/

Some examples of the random and irresponsible "cartoonification" (thanks, Count) you can expect now and then...

After much ado, we finally have a mobile view for HQ. Our wonderfully colourful site is still best viewed from a desktop, but we hope the mobile version will be helpful for those who like to read on their phone.

We also have a new BBT calendar    and a new feed, both of which can be accessed from the home page

Unfortunately the calendar is only viewable from the desktop view for now.

Our Forum is currently down (it wasn’t my fault I swear!) but shall return on September 1st, with a smashing new template, and the same ill-tempered, wine-swilling moderators. Well Major Gripe will be back anyway…

In the meantime, for those who don’t follow our Twitter thingmabob, here’s some splendid cartoonification by Kim Krause. Brilliant eh?

We are magnificently failing to keep up our presence here, owing largely to a combination of incompetence and apathy on my part, so I do apologise.

Here is our latest venture – The Semi-Definitive Non-Canon Fan-Fiction Collection. And if I could have fitted any more hyphens into that then I would have.

One of our members has tirelessly whittled themselves away into a screed in the dark, cataloguing all the completed TBBT stories on Fanfiction.net. First into pairings, then into sub-categories within the non-canon pairings (that being our particular interest).

There are 3330 completed stories, of which 1950 are non-canon. Just to give you an idea of what a mammoth task (or tusk) compiling all the bastards was. These non-canon pairings are predominately Shenny, Shelnard, and Wolopali, along with any Alternative Pairings of any description, so for example, say, Penny/Amy, or Sheldon/OC, and a number of OT3 scenarios.

Here they are. The Top 5 of each genre as faved on fanfiction.net, followed by a link to the full collection. Adding the works from Archive of Our Own, LiveJournal and rogue tumblr sites is currently underway.

http://www.thebigbangtheoryhq.com/#!fan-fiction/c1lrw

CP3w0JeUsAAln2v.jpg

Non-Canon pairings also make up 97% of the Top 100 TBBT fanfics, which the long-suffering compiler has listed HERE – http://www.thebigbangtheoryhq.com/#!top-100-fan-fictions/c1wd3

The Top 100 is comprised of the most popular (completed) TBBT stories on Fanfiction.net.

Incidentally, the splendid anime-style cartoonery is by Gwendy85, who, along with BehindtheVeil, is one of our favourite Shenny scribblers. You chaps might know this one, by BehindtheVeil?

At some point there shall also be an HQ Masterlist of 50 selected stories. Unfortunately, as these will largely be chosen by the essentially anti-romantic Major Gripe, this list will probably consist entirely of stories where Sheldon is a toaster, or ghost, or alien, or where Penny is a pirate, or space-barista, and Meemaw owns a velociraptor etc. So just a heads up there.

Anyroad, we hope some guests here will enjoy perusing this collection. And for those residents for whom non-canon is not your cup of cha, (although it might be argued that ALL fanfiction is by definition non-canon) please enjoy the below clip instead. (Or not, I mean, you don’t HAVE to...)

It’s a minor masterpiece of rejection, which should resonate with writers of every ilk under the sun.
("Ilks Under The Sun" sounds like it could be a Turner painting…)

On a completely unrelated, but for me, poignant note, I have been forced to relinquish my avatar of “Buster Keaton With A Kitten On His Head” as I see the newcomer Dr. Tamale has demonstrated a similar and admirable affinity for it. As he will plausibly spend more time here in future than I will, having duties elsewhere, I shall gracefully surrender it. I have had that avatar for over 2 years, but there is no bitterness. (Dr. Tamale, meet me behind the woodshed at dawn with your second.)

I am now a sepia-tinted Victorian fop. Or rather, Sydney Carton as portrayed by Martin-Harvey.

I heartily endorse this website. It's, um... refreshing.  And way colourful in so many aspects!

(Disclaimer:  I have recently been drinking with the Count - but I think we are even for shouts so the advice provided on this posting is general advice only. It has been prepared without taking into account your objectives, shipping situation or needs. Before acting on this advice you should consider the appropriateness of the advice, having regard to your own objectives, shipping situation and needs. If any words utilised in the posting actually influence you in any way in this, you should probably get independent expert advice  relating to the words utilised and consider their full import before making any decisions. Where quoted, past performance is not indicative of future performance.)

I think historically, most significant inter-tribal disputes, whether religious, philosophical, moral or political, were ultimately solved by the liberal application/consumption of potato wedges and booze.
I believe it's even mentioned in Herodotus.

Bacchanalianism aside...

Heads up, it's Chuck Lorre's birthday. If anyone wants to put on their special festive trousers.

Not sure why I thought going to the pub in a lab-coat and goggles, then staying up till 4am watching the trilogy whilst drinking Laphroaig was a good idea but I'm going to have a talk with myself about that later on...when everything stops hurting.

In the meantime, happy Back to the Future Day folks! (urgh. even that exclamation point gave me a headache...)

Drinking Laphroaig, is always a good idea.   Although I also enjoy a few others, 18 or better.

For reasons which probably don't bear close examination, a while back our TBBT HQ forum members began Wheatonifying TBBT. What I suspect began as a vaguely cathartic manner of dealing with mildly aggravating elements of TBBT 2.0 (S5-9), eventually turned into something faintly terrifying, as Wil Wheaton began permeating the very fabric of the TBBT universe, both original and remastered.

If anyone here wants to join in, we'd be delighted! He's such a splendid presence. The more incarnations he has, the better. Until he takes on his final form, and destroys us all.
