My mistake, I thought that marriage was a partnership of sharing and mutual respect, not "that's yours and this is mine, I'll do whatever the hell I like and you can't stop me." How foolish of me. ;)

Bernadette is hardly respectful when she constantly reminds Howard that he earns peanuts and tells her girlfriends that she is much smarter than him

I just don't get their relationship but nm jmo

I didn't enjoy it at all. I thought JEJ was way over the top zany. I almost thought Sheldon was going to wake up from a dream. Funniest line was when he referenced how much to get the stripper OFF him. No interaction with Carrie either. Disappointing episode altogether.

This was a terrible episode.  One of the worst ever.

All the girls did was talk in a tea place.

They mentioned WonderCon in Anaheim, which is a real convention.

It's funny how eighty % of people can say they really enjoyed the episode, yet their are few that say they diddn't. Everyone is perfectly entitled to their opinion, but considering I would say the majority enjoyed it and the minority diddn't, maybe you diddn't enjoy the episode for other reasons then it just being a crap episode.

I wouldn't say it was a crap episode I guess I just thought it was pointless. JEJ made a fool of himself, so much so that I found it kind of embarrassing. I know it's a sitcom but can't they stick to some story lines Penny & Leonard, Amy & Sheldon, tenure, etc. I thought the tea scene was stupid and Amy wearing the tiara. I thought the hitting refresh for Comicon was pretty funny because I've done that for things. I also thought they were smart not to buy scalped tickets. I hope whoever said it was a 2 parter was right and the guys go to Comicon with JEJ, not acting like a demented child though.

I think JEJ's behavior with Sheldon was meant to kind of subvert the idea of both maturity and celebrity.  Sheldon goes to stalk JEJ, but in the end, it's JEJ who wears Sheldon out and goes all over-the-top with him.  Normally, that's the sort of thing a fan might do to a celebrity (which is how Sheldon earned all those restraining orders.)  And then we see this great, renowned actor, who normally seems to exude gravitas and solemnity, acting like a kid (immaturity) and doing crazy kid things--banana split, carnival, ding-dong-ditch, etc.

He was supposed to be over the top and silly.

As for sticking to story lines--it is a sitcom, not a soap opera and they have a long way to go with the couples, so they're not going to get to the end of those stories in any kind of hurry.  The show isn't just about the couples--it's about things like "what do you do when you can't get into ComicCon?" as well as science and pop culture and social awkwardness.  As for tenure, I don't know that they have any intention of coming back to that idea anytime soon, but they might.  I don't think they want to do to much change in things like anyone's career.  They're always going to be underdogs and I think that if they tenure issue ever comes up again, it might just go to someone else.  I know that the HR lady recommended the guys, but that doesn't mean that she was the only one with any say or that they were the only candidates, so who knows?  I don't even really care about the tenure.  That was so long ago and doesn't really matter at this point, IMO.

The tea scene was also about the subject of maturity--what the girls thought sounded grown up and sophisticated (especially compared to what the guys were doing, in their opinion) turned out to be a silly kid thing.  And of course Amy's going to wear her tiara.  That's kind of the point.

Although I do think it would be fun to bring JEJ back at some point, I kind of doubt that will happen and if it does, I don't think they'll show them going to ComicCon.  Or Tijuana.

After so many years a show just cannot have the same impact it used too, for example the first scene was classic TBBT but it's been done before, so when it was done 5 odd years ago it was unique and different, and the fact it cannot be done on any other show still makes unique and different. But even in TV land life goes on, this is no longer a show about Four Eggheads and the hottie neighbour next door, that premise ended by Season Four. I think people just need to accept the fact their is seven characters in this show now, at Season 7 if we were still watching a show about 30 odd adolescents playing video games, going to comic con, playing paintball, reading comic books e.t.c. And that's all they did then that would get old pretty fast, it may not seem like it would and you may miss the old days of TBBT (because I do too), but trust me it would get old pretty quick. It's weird though because people always go on about TBBT running out of original ideas, so not sure why people would want old hased storylines from seven years ago, that absolotuely make no sense to where the characters are now. I said this on other threads, but I think the problem is some viewers have simply outgrown the show, the show outgrew that nerdy, geeky type storylines when the show started to evolve by Season Four, so maybe when you get people saying what happened to TBBT? They simply forgot to grow with it, so they have simply outgrown the show, and if thats the case no complaining is going to changed the shows transformation. Is the show like it was in S1-3? No but I am glad it's not, change is the only constant, this is not too say they cannot combine the boldness and maturity of the show, and incorporate influences from the early days, the first scene was indicative of that.

But these characters are growing up and moving on, they just cannot portray the guys and their science and geek culture interests as realistic as they did back in S2, they are much older now. The reality is their is a lot more sub plots now, that they have to write seven characters, some people just need to accept they write seven characters with subplots for a 22 minute show, to a nearly 20 million audience, They cannot possibly cater to everyone's personal tastes, but compared to other shows who generally decline at this point, and considering everyones personal preferences for the show, the quality is still very good, very different but still very good, I've watched the show since the begginning and I'm still enjoying it so its all good ;).

Why do you feel compelled to correct people who post their opinion or interpretation of an episode or character? It is not your job to police everyone. You are not the Hall Monitor; although, you certainly act age appropriate for the job at times.

Well written post. I also think that TBBT is by far the best sitcom on the air right now. I've been a loyal viewer since s1e1 and agree that they can't cater to everyone's taste. Besides this episode, I've been happy with every episode of TBBT. I agree that they have a lot to write for but this episode was nothing more than a way to get JEJ on the show and I thought his portrayal of himself was horrible. Sharing a banana split and going on a Ferris wheel with Sheldon? Way over the top. Why couldn't they be a little more subtle like other cameos like Wil Wheaton, Bob Newhart, Stan Lee, etc.? The whole story of the episode made little sense aside from the guys deciding whether or not to buy scalped tickets for Comicon. I guess this is just one episode out of 7 seasons that I didn't like.

WTH?  I wasn't correcting anyone's opinion, just stating why I thought it was funny and what the point of the various scenes was.

I'm allowed to disagree with anyone's opinion and state my take on an episode and offer a different perspective about what I thought it was about--that's what we're all doing here.

I'm not policing anyone--but you're trying to police me, apparently.  And you're making what amounts to a personal bash, which is against the rules and which I don't mind pointing out.  And that's not being a "Hall Monitor", that's just stating facts.

What's it to you, anyway.  If you have a different opinion, feel free to post it.  But BEWARE!!! I might disagree with you!!!!  :icon_rolleyes:

Ohhh I loved that episode! I love love love Star Wars (the old movies! The new ones were okay, but the old ones are legendary!).

James Earl Jones was hilarious! The scenes of him and Sheldon were really funny!

For me this was one of my favourite episodes of the current season.

Too bad Carrie Fisher's scene was quite short! It was hilarious anyway. :girldance:

The girl's plot was ok, but not the best imo. It was awesome to see Amy's tiara anyway!

I totally agree that more screen time for Carrie would have been funny.

It was all good fun.

Be honest if you were Bernadette, would you let Howard loose with money?

And as for grown up....aren't they reflecting the fact that if we're honest no one ever really feels 'grown up'....well at least I don't!

Sleepless nights with a sick kid will make one feel grown up, dead tired, old...

....of course we have not gotten to that on TBBT.

What struck me as interesting is that Sheldon is actually sharing a banana split with JEJ in the scene.  That is one dish from what I can see in that clip.   How times have changed.  Sheldon used to freak out if anyone touched his food or took a french fry off of his plate.  Now he not only shares food with Amy, but with JEJ?!?!?   Amazing! :shok:

I think Sheldon being able to share food is not a big change but does shows he's matured more.

I was also surprised that JEJ liked hanging out with him. I expected another restraining order

Overall, it was a very good episode
