I don't think Amy needs a make over exactly: I just really, really, reallyyyyy want less padding around Mayim's body. It really bothers me because I, as someone who studied fashion and fitting, always "spot" the padding and it drives me nuts! Maybe is because I'm too much of a perfeccionist when it comes to fitting, maybe is because I see in pictures how Mayim's body actually is and that makes it easier to find the extra bits they must put around her.

Her style, per se is not bad. Really, I mean it! I am someone who thinks anyone can look great in any style, as long as the clothing fits. And that's my only problem with Amy's clothes: the not fitting part, the I-can-see-that-padding-over-there part. I wouldn't want to change the cardigan + shirt + t-shirt combo, but would love to make it less weird looking just by having the cut fit better. I believe her quirkness comes from the overall style, not the strangely looking silhuete they strive to give her.

I would like a one episode make over. Like head to toe. Orchestrated by Raj and the girls. Everyone thinks she looks fantastic (and she does), but only Sheldon sees that she feels cold, over-made up and vulnerable. So he chews the others out for not taking Amy's needs and taste into account.

That being said, Amy dressing like Amy doesn't mean they have to pad her to weird bulkiness. Put her in the requisite number of layers in her size and let the chips fall where they may.

I hate the implication that she needs a makeover.  FIrst of all, it seems to imply that part of what keeps Sheldon holding back is that she's not pretty or glamorous or otherwise physically attractive to him.  But we know that that's not the case.  I don't think that's even a factor for him.  He's already been contemplating intimacy/physical interaction with her, and it's not based on physical attraction.

I don't think that female appearance has much, if any, effect on him.

And she doesn't seem to have any kind of self-esteem issue that would imply that she needs to change for her sake.

And it also kind of sends a message that unless a woman conforms to some sort of "look", that she is somehow unworthy of male attention, or that she somehow isn't "good enough", or has to be "pretty" for whatever reason.

Amy's clothing has evolved somewhat--she's generally not as "clash" as she used to be, but she seems to have an eye for color and all that.  She simply wears lots of layers and modest hemlines and necklines.

And since Sheldon loves her the way she is, and she seems to be fine with how she dresses, then it seems to me there's no point in giving her a makeover.

I don't think she wears padding, I think because the clothes she wears are so much bigger than her size they end up "padding her up". Like, you can see interviews BTS where she's half dressed as Amy that the shirts are incredibly long for her, for example, so if you wear bulky cardigans over that they get all bunched up and makes it look like padding.

As for Sheldon not being affected by her appearance, I think he is, but in his own quirky way... *cough*Star Trek outfit*cough* :p

Amy is okay with her outfits ! Correct me if I'm wrong, but I never heard Amy saying she's not comfortable with her own style and this is what matters IMO, So not Make-over for her.

I dont think anyone here would implicate that Amy NEEDS a make over. Some just think it sounds fun with an episode that would focus about that as it could have very many fun outcomes to it.

I dont mind if Amy stays exacly the same when it comes to clothing, but either dont I mind if they changed her alittle. Its not her clothes that justifies who she are. Mayim's portrayal of Amy would shine through any outfit

I adore her in her cute cardigans, but can I just say I was in love with her as Snow White. She looked so elegant and yet still had her quirky personality. (checking herself out in the compact mirror, trying to get a kiss from Sheldon) She just gives me feels in so many places. Ahem.

No, don't change Amy. The point of the character is that she is what she is, regardless of what everybody else thinks. To thine own self be true said Polonius (I think). Don't make her conform to regulated standards - let her be who she wants to be and be original (and Mayim can do whatever she wants IRL). That's called acting and playing a character.

No shes beautiful just the way she is. You wouldent ask Penny. To. Change her appearence. Kaley and to a lesser extent mel hav blessed with natural Beauty, but Mayim is gorgeous in their own way, and apart from Amys look defining her characters personality. Doesent make sense asking for a makeover, that wld imply sheldon cares about physical beauty and appearences. We allí kno he Doesent haha, and has proven he likes Amys quirks and all ;). Besides whole point of the show is taking ppl for who they aré, and not judging a book by its cover, Lennys a prime example of that. Giving Amy a makeover would be disengenious to the show jmo.

sorry. My point was let the character look like what they want her to look like. She should not turn into the person playing her. What the character is doing is yet another layer that I don't care to go into.

She doesn't need a wardrobe change.
