Penny with all her imperfections, is the girl that Leonard is in love with, he has always loved her for who she is.  Some comments here, identify her as gold digger, so untrue.

I agree, I have never thought she was a gold digger at all. It's clear Leonard doesn't make much money so if she really was after his money she would have bolted a long time ago. I'm glad they added the line about her burning through her savings as to clarify that Leonard is NOT paying her expenses.

On the episode when they go out to dinner as if it was the first time them going out, Leonard does mention he gets paid pretty good by working on government research grants.  And hopefully he will get the tenure position, his pay will increase substantially.

Oh I didn't remember that, you have good memory, that's an old episode. Still I really don't think he has been paying for Penny's expenses except for the car surprise he gave her.

Thank you BipolarBear.  I think  Leonard helps her, which is okay, helping and supporting each other is a component their relationship, the last thing  he wants to see is his sweetheart  struggle.  Leonard's first priority has always been Penny, the way it should be.

Great episode. I got all teary-eyed when Leonard showed Penny her new used car! So sweet. She's lucky to have him. :) And Howard and Sheldon bonding because of the scary turbulence. That scene was hard to watch! I only flew a few times in my life and the last time there was turbulence and it was one of the scariest things ever. Luckily the lights didn't go out like in this episode. But it sure brought back memories!

As Amy and Raj are walking down the street, Amy states "Before I met Sheldon, I was ready to give up, too".

There was nothing for her to give up.

By her own admission, she wasn't looking for a relationship, but rather just going through the motions of one date per year, to keep her mother from pestering her about it.

Yeah, this is one of those times when the writers threw "consistency" out the window and it's stuff like this that really irks me and makes me want to slap them and make them re-watch their own damn show so they stay consistent with the story they're telling!

Excellent episode. Stuart while maybe only a supporter, as it turns out turned out to be one of the most important characters in this series history. What he said, layed the ground work for Lenny being endgame. They were on the verge of anotehr fight. And his comment "Your the best couple that I know" Brought wtf from Amy and Bernadette LOL. But was so true. Penny brought LEonard out of his shell and expanded his romantic world. And Penny mind was opened to new ideas. To me that was TPTB saying Lenny are endgame. I Really hope now, that the series final is 20 years on one last meal at 4A :cray:.  With the Leonard and Sheldon hug, the all time fav moment for me of this series. Leonard buying Penny the car. In a nutshell that is why they make each other better. When Penny lost all hope, Leonard was the one who was their for her. I remember some were like ARggh h LEonard bails her out again. I was like come on cynics lol.

It can't be, because we've already seen 20 years into the future, and Stuart was the only one who turned up for the meal.

So? That was a gag, or a long running gag Stuart being alone. 3 years from now i am sure no one well remember. And even if some people do, why would it matter. I mean Leonard already said it, so regardless people are aware of it. I don't think it would matter 5 or so years down the track

So true and one of my favorite episodes. When Penny thought that Leonard did not support her decision to give acting a full time quest he shows his true love and devotion to Penny by buying her a car. I think the writers showed how Leonard was deeply in love with Penny by the gifts he gave her:  the car as noted,  the locket when he left for the Hawking expedition, and the snowflake he brought from the North Pole. Not to mention all the times he paid for her food and rent. (EITHER OF YOU WANT TO BUY MY UNDERWEAR FOR $1400?)

One of my favorites as well. It was funny Howard and Raj looked like they were considering paying $1400.00 for her underwear!

I remember her talking about the car in the episode where she sold the car Leonard bought her. Then the argument over what to do with the money. Then I don't remember the car being mentioned again. But I could br wrong.
