which kinda confirms a big step like that is very very very far away...I see season 10.....LOL

Lol But not necessarily because they can find something else to keep the audience in suspense. So that's why he asked why he follows the show and likes it.

There was more to Eric's answer but I want to wait until I can get it verbatim before saying anything because I don't want to start a frenzy. xD

Yes please avoid a frenzy

My favorite about the SIK was that he was a boy then became a man. I see that every time I watch.

They could've had him kiss her out of happiness and get lost in the kiss. Just like the one we got except without the angry part. So it could've gone from happy to even more happy. But I agree that the transition from angry to happy was much more passionate :)

And I'm so much happier that they chose to go with the one we got cause it's true, Maddie, we got that "I DESERVE romance" which made me swoon and throw my fist in the air!

When I was trying to imagine how the SIK would happen I thought of that scenario of Amy saying something really clever while their are working tohether (that's just a bonus :p ) and him getting all excited and kiss her. If he freaked out a little at first by the realization that he actually liked it and then settled with this reality (within seconds not drag this out for say days) it could be sweet and nice and meaningful.

But truth is I am too happier about what happened. And it's not a surprise these writers are really talented so they made the best scene ever. I don't know what other version of SIK could top that.

The thing is that we have seen change in him on his own.  The kiss itself.

While he at first kissed her to mock the whole romance thing--which he was right to feel manipulated about--then of course he realized that he liked it after all.

And pretty much the next thing we know, he's happy to kiss her at the end of their date night.  And enjoyed it, even though, their kisses are still very chaste--on both their parts.

I think that it's never going to be in his nature to initiate those big steps.  If these things are difficult for him, they're always going to be difficult for him.  Until he figures out that he likes them.

He didn't like the idea of needing/having a girlfriend.  Until he realized what it was that he needed--but he had to find out by experiencing the negative, the idea of Amy possibly being with someone other than him (first Leonard and his groin, then Stuart and his pumpkin lattes.)  He doesn't like holding hands, and for his own personal reasons, he probably will never completely enjoy it.  But if he really didn't want to, he wouldn't do it, so on some level he's okay with it.  With Amy.

He doesn't generally like hugging, and we've seen that the only time he initiates it is when he's overcome somehow.  But with Amy, again, he's okay with being hugged.

These may not seem like big things, compared to the other couples and all of their smooching and sex, but for the Sheldon we started out with, each of these are enormous steps and enormous changes to his understanding of himself.

I don't think that the writers mean to imply that Sheldon will never change, because obviously they have changed him.  But the change has to be organic, which means it has to happen for reasons that fit the character, not just because the fans want to see certain things happen.  In Sheldon's case, his natural state is striving to maintain whatever status quo he has become comfortable with until something acts upon his homeostasis, like a girl moving in across the hall who invades his world and brings all kinds of outside influences to bear upon him and his friends, or meeting a girl who, wonder of wonders, is pretty much just like him.

Amy is the catalyst that interrupts his homeostasis, and that's always going to be the case.  He will probably always be trying to return to a state of equalibrium, with whatever new factors he chooses to include (kissing, hand-holding, having a girlfriend), and Amy will always be introducing new factors into his state of being, which will constantly have him recalibrating.

I don't think that it means that he's always going to resist her until she begs or whatever.  But just that it is not natural for him to be the seeker.

Dessertisserved wrote a fic where Sheldon is mesmerized by her intelligence while she's working on some equations on his board and he calls her beautiful (not exactly what you're saying but you will not be disappointed) it's brilliantly written! https://m.fanfiction.net/s/9423525/13/ Edited by totabcn

Yes, this is what I was referring to.

I don't see him doing anything on his own accord without some sort of nudge or catalyst, of sorts. The doesn't mean that he can't, but it would be very out of place. I don't mean Amy has to beg and nag to get what she wants; but the boy usually needs a frying pan to the head to make him move.

ditto...I feel like you were our mascot today (or rep) and made us VERY VERY PROUD!!! You go girl!!

Aw thank you guys. :D I'm just glad I got into the room AND got to ask a question because that crap is all luck. xD

Idk I think it's pretty big to hear that Amy wasn't the reason he left, especially from Molaro, because that was something we all took a bit of offense to when the episode broke. So I think it means good things for Shamy that the writers don't see any peril in their future. And honestly, half my goal for asking the question was to rep the fan support directly to the writers, and based on the audience applause and cheering when I said as much, I'm glad they at least now see what the fans want.

You did a great job, Michy! Thanks so much!!

Okay I'm very sorry because my recording is apparently terrible and it's hard to get the words exactly, but this is the best I could get from the recording. Perhaps beter video or somesuch will surface and people can correct it, but here's the best I can do for Eric's answer:

Q: My question is sort of a follow up to the previous question, and it's on everyone's mind. Will Amy and Sheldon ever get down to business?

"Easy, easy, this is a PG panel."

Kaplan: What spirit are you asking that in? I mean...

"You're asking if his interest is purient? Is that..."

Kaplan: Well, no, no, I'm wondering like, in a sense, if you're relating to the show almost as if it's - it's real, and you're enjoying it as something that you have an emotional connection with, you would feel bad to hear that the, you know, motley collection of people on this panel have figured it out are planning it, right?

"Eric Kaplan, killer of dreams."

(Then there's a lot of talking in between that I can't really discern at the moment.)

Kaplan: I'm actually trying to be supportive, I feel like - (some whooping covered up some words) enjoyment that you're going to get from watching the show, and I'm wondering if you thought through that if you asked us, supposedly we said - your question was, "Is Amy ever going to be happy?" and we said, "No, she can't - couldn't be happy," it might - it might make your relationship to the character maybe kind of a bit - kind of different, I think?"

Molaro: Does that answer your question?

Ferguson: Or does it just scare you?

Prady: I think for me, and I – I'm in a great position because – because my – my relationship with the show is – is part-time, so I get to come in and see what Steven and the guys have done, and the amazing thing about these two characters is that they – Sheldon will not move at all, and Amy will not let him not move. And it's this... just watching Amy move Sheldon is incredible. Because I will say – I will say, "There is absolutely no way Sheldon would ever do such-and-such," and then Steve will get angry and then – and then – and then show how – show how that would happen. And you look at it and say, "Yeah, that would move him. That – that would..." You know, and a lot of it has to do with Sheldon doesn't want to lose Amy. He doesn't want to have – be with Amy on her terms but he doesn't want to lose her, and so that lets him move forward. Also, everything Eric said.

And then Bill Prady took over with his response.

All that response does is make me go "HUH???"  It sounds like they're just babbling any old thing that comes to mind so they don't have to answer the question.  Bah.

But thank you for deciphering it for us, Michy.  I'll just keep believing that it WILL happen eventually, especially since they seem to REALLY not want to answer that.

That's why it kind of sounded like he was saying "You don't want us to tell you that they're not ever going to because that will change how you watch the show." I mean, I guess that he was just saying, "IF the answer was no, you wouldn't want to hear it," and not necessarily, "the answer IS no and we don't want to tell you so," but it still was a very weird way of just saying, "Why spoil the surprise?"

Here was the first Shamy question and answer. ETA: I added Bill's answer in to the other question as well.

Q: I just wanted to say that I really – I was really happy with the progress that Sheldon and Amy made in the last season (cheers/applause) and – you know, both individually and as two parts in a relationship, and despite the fact - I know Amy says that Sheldon's a known flight risk - despite that, I think we were all a little surprised at the end of season seven with his exit, so I was just wondering if Sheldon's walkabout is going to be something positive for his relationship with Amy and if they're going to find happiness with each other.

Ferguson: She's asking for spoilers.

Molaro: Well, he didn't leave because of Amy, and I – I – I would argue that they do have their own weird brand of happiness right now. I – I – that kiss moment on the train I think was pretty - (cheers/applause) and – and one other – just while we're talking about the kiss, that was such a stressful time in the writers' room. We were sweating and pacing and trying to get that moment right, to the point that there is a version of the kiss scene that we wrote - a completely different version that we wrote that no one's ever seen because we were so panicked that we needed to get it right.

Ferguson: What happened in the different version of the kiss scene?

Molaro: He was – in the other version – in the version that's on TV, he kind of went at her and he was mad because he felt like he was tricked to go on the train.

Ferguson: Right.

Molaro: There's a – a kinder, gentler version where he kisses her just because he's having such a lovely experience on the train, but I'm really happy with the way we did it, so.

Ferguson: Yes, I like that one, too.

This is absolutely horrible. I understood it to say that basically, Amy won't ever get what she wants out of her relationship, that she won't ever be happy, and they're too cowardly to tell us so. Basically, what I'm getting of this is "you know that thing you're craving? It'll never happen, but we can't say it, or you'll stop watching our show."

This is terrible. Amy has been on the show for four years now. There have been more episodes with Amy and Shamy that there have been episodes without. And yet she's still treated as damaged goods. They still don't know what to do with her, they still don't know why they brought her into Sheldon's life. A Sheldon who is ready to make compromises for Penny to live with Leonard and him but who won't make compromises for his girlfriend. A Sheldon who wants to be with Amy, just "not on her own terms."

Why does he even want to be with her? Are they even clear on that? If he really doesn't want to have sex with her, that's one thing, but what about the caring and compassion he used to display for her and hasn't for over a year, now? Amy's feelings don't matter. It's all about Sheldon, about how Sheldon feels and what Sheldon wants. What Amy feels and wants is only there to fuel his own character. Shamy storylines are never about Amy anymore, they're all about Sheldon - Sheldon losing his interest in his job, Sheldon wanting a video game, Sheldon wanting to break up with her

What happened to Amy Farrah Fowler? How did we go from her having Sheldon wrapped around her finger to her crawling at Sheldon's feet? How did we go from Shamy being the most well balanced relationship I'd ever seen on on TV to it being a re-heated version of Lenny where one wants more and the other doesn't? Shamy has become downright abusive, and the writers know it, but they won't admit it because they also know that they would lose money. They are about to throw away their most popular pairing and their most recognized actress (three Emmy noms and a SAG nom, god fucking dammit!) and they know it and they keep quiet about it to keep us strining along so they can get our viewership and money up until the end when they'll be like "Hey, we never promised anything."

Well I'm done with this. Amy Farrah Fowler deserves the sun, the moon, and all of the stars, and if they can't see it, they I won't be there to watch their show crash and burn.

I can say that I will lose interest and patience with this show if I don't see some Shamy love. I won't wait 3 years to be strung along ......

We've already waited 4.....

As for the panel....

Well, that Shamy stuff was a hot mess, yes? Can anyone really parse that?

This is what goes through my mind on almost a daily basis right now. All I can hope for is that the intentions behind these statements are not as negative as they seem.
